We Work Hard Too

“You know that you’re going to lose right? We’re in the process of suing you two because you went through our things without a search warrant.”

What? That’s a bit stupid. Then Lee Kyung Nam would be out in the open, where he might get questioned about what documents we were trying to find. What the hell? That’s stupid…

“What pretty boy? You can’t process what I just said? You. Two. Are. Going. Down.”

I grabbed Tae Myung by the collar and pulled him up, “Why did you kidnap us?! Why’d you bring Chunji here? What are you trying to do?!”

“Don’t get mad at me. I’m technically helping you out here. I got Chunji out of the picture, now you can have Jenny all to yourself… in jail, but all to yourself.”

This son of a… he’s going to get it. No one puts me in emotional distress and gets away with it. I smiled at him.

“Hey, then could I use your phone to rub it into Chunji’s face?”

The idiot smirked as he willingly gave me his phone. He’s backstabbing Chunji, as much as I don’t like the goody-goody Chunji, I don’t like that he’s being tricked by this low-life.

“Wait- make sure to mention that you forcefully took the phone off me so that it doesn’t seem like I’m helping you out.”

This son of a…

“Then that would mean that I would have to make it seem as if we got into a heated discussion.”

“Yes.”

Oh… I’ve been waiting for him to say so. I punched him hard in the stomach and walked out of the storage room, locking it behind me.

“Wa-wa-wait! What are you doing?! You can’t lock me in here!”

“What’d you say? I can’t hear you.”

I shrugged as I turned around and saw Jenny waiting for me outside. I smiled at her and she gave me the thumbs up.

“How long do you think it’ll take for his workers to find him?”

“I don’t know, but I think we should get out of here before they come.”

I grabbed Jenny’s hand and for a split second, I thought back to what I said in the storage room. I couldn’t tell if I was lying or telling the truth in there.

----------------Flashback----------------

Jenny and I had our fixed to the laptop screen, which was playing a conversation of Lee Kyung Nam and Tae Myung.

“I want these two out of the picture! Now!”

“Chairman Lee, we have to do something about it. We can’t just be sitting ducks and wait for them to get us.”

“You’re right and I’ve already got a plan. I’ve already ordered my men to kidnap them.”

“Sir, are you planning to torture them?”

“Tor-torture us? Oh hell no.”

“Shhh…”

I looked over at Jenny and I couldn’t help but smile, despite the fact that she had the expression that translated to: Tae Myung is dead. 

“- you in charge of the kidnapping. You seem to know what there are up to.”

“Yes sir, but when you said you want those two out of the picture…”

“I mean to get to scare them. They aren’t professional. Get them off our backs.”

“Yes sir.”

Jenny pulled out her earphone and gave the screen a disgusted look, “He was planning to kill us. That son of a gun thought of killing us.”

“Yeah, but right now, we just have to think of a show to put on for Tae Myung.”

Jenny tilted her head, “Put on a show?”

“Yeah, might as well mislead him. Make him think that our partnership is on the rocks so they would back off.”

She nodded in an approving manner, “I’m impressed ajhusshi.”

I frowned, “One of topics we should discuss is the ‘ajhusshi’ thing. I’d rather you talk informally towards me than call me ajhusshi.”

“Okay, okay. Keep those thoughts for that day.”

“How long do you think it’ll take for his workers to find him?”

“I don’t know, but I think we should get out of here before they come.”

Woohyun grabbed your hand and lead you out of the car park. You both were walking casually down the street when you looked down and noticed that you two were still holding hands. You slid your hand away and Woohyun cleared his throat.

Your eyes shifted between Woohyun and the ground.

“So… are you okay on the whole break up with Chunji?”

“Well, it’s not like I haven’t broken up with someone while on the job.”

Woohyun puffed up his cheeks, “I guess this case is going to come to an end then…”

You looked at Woohyun, “What? You seem disappointed.”

“Yeah, I mean, I’ll miss the fact I lived so close to the Tony Moly store.”

You scoffed and rolled your eyes.

“Is that the only thing that you’re going to miss?” you asked, with a slight tone of disappoint.

“What? You want me to say that I’ll miss you?”

“No. That’s crazy. Anyways, lets quickly wrap up the case.”

Woohyun scratched his head, “Well, have you got enough evidence?”

You bit your bottom lip, “I was thinking of getting into the company building and obtaining the files.”

“What? As in go into the building ‘Mission Impossible’ style.”

“I was thinking more of a ‘Kindergarten Cop’ approach.”

“Kindergarten Cop?” Woohyun looked at you in confusion.

“We are going undercover. You up to it?”

“Up to it? I’d love it. We did such a good job with the acting today, why not?”

You smiled to yourself.

“Jenny, how about you take a trip to my company? I’m like a hyung to Minho and Niel but Sunggyu is just like an acquaintance to you.”

“Aww… taking me to see your work family?” you asked.

“Yeah, and also, I’m going to let Sunggyu organise our little undercover mission.”

“Awesome, it’s about time someone from your side did some work.”

“What do you mean? We did contribute, especially when it came to getting the information. My company works hard too.”

You raised your eyebrows.

Woohyun mocked your facial expression, “Sunggyu had to dress up as a plumber AND a worker from the security camera company.”

“A plumber?”

“Yeah, they watched over him as he did it and the thing is, he has no idea about plumbing. Yeah… they fired him pretty quickly.”

“I couldn’t imagine why,” you said sarcastically.
