Objection of A Best Friend

“You agreed to move in with him?!”

“No, he agreed to move in with me. But seriously, is that what you got out of this conversation? Didn’t you hear anything about the strategic moves and plans to catch this guy using Woohyun?”

I am genuinely concerned for this girl. How on Earth can she move in with a guy she met twice?

“You can move in with me. At least then, you have someone you trust living with you.”

“Then why don’t you move in with me?” Jenny asked casually.

“Jenny! That’s the thing! You can’t just go around asking guys to move in with you. Even girls in dramas have a fit when they have to live with a guy.”

“So did I, but then I moved on.”

I grabbed Jenny by the shoulders, how can she do this? Guys… guys can be quite… productive at night… She shouldn’t be around that. What if something happens?

“You know when we said that you were the brains and I was the brawn of the partnership? Well right now, your ‘brains’ status is not true. Jenny ah.”

She gave me a reassuring smile which seemed to ramp up the nerves more than it was meant to calm them down. Seeing her live alone was enough to freak the hell out of me and now she’s going to live alone with a man she doesn’t even know?

“Oh come on, I might just end up falling in love with this guy,” Jenny said sarcastically.

“It’s a dangerous thing to do.”

“It’s a strategic thing to do. Don’t worry, you live a floor above me, you have long legs, you also have a spare key to my apartment. I’m pretty sure if anything went wrong, you’d be there in a heartbeat.”

This girl… she gives me more mini heart attacks than getting my exam marks back.

“Look, Niel oppa and Mr Mun know about it so it’s perfectly fine.”

The fact that Mr Mun agreed worries me.

“Jenny, this is ridiculous. Give several reasons as to why this guy wouldn’t harm you in any way.”

“You know what? Let’s get the whole crew out to dinner tonight.”

I sighed, “Did you hear me?”

“Yeah, but I moved on. Next topic, chop, chop.”

I guess there’s no point arguing with her. If you can’t prevent it, you might as well monitor it and make sure it’s protected. Aigoo…

I despondently put my hands on my waist as I decided to give up my attempt to make her change her mind.

“What time do I come to set things up?”

Jenny hugged me, “Thank you! You’re my brother from another mother!”

“I know! I know! Now I know how it feels to be an older sibling.”

“Join the club of the ‘constantly worried’.”

I think I’m way more than ‘constantly’ worried.

“Okay, we haven’t really set a time to move in. I’ve just written up a contract and I want you there as a witness.”

“Okay.”

~~~~~Sunggyu’s POV~~~~~

“Yah! Are you stupid?!”

“Look, I can see how this doesn’t work, but listen to me-”

“No! You listen to me!”

Aish! I cannot believe this guy?! Why on earth is he moving in with a TEENAGE girl? An under aged teenage girl!

“There are going to be problems if people find out. If not legally, it could be just -  just – just psychologically! How could you move in with her? You’re a guy for goodness’ sake and come on; you’re not the most innocent guy out there.”

This guy is crazy, we’ve been friends since middle school and I know him way too well. I’m not saying he’ll rape the girl but he’s going to get attached to her… If he likes this girl and she doesn’t like him then this guy will have major issues. Last time he broke up with his girlfriend, of TWO weeks, he cried for a month! A month!

“Oh come on! Just come with me! Please?!”

“Why the heck did you just tell me now?!”

Ahh! So much frustration! How on Earth did he leave such an important manner to the last minute?

“Because! I was busy packing at home and I had to double check and triple check if I had everything. Plus, I had to organise things with my landlord. Bloody hell, I still have to pay rent…”

“That’s what you’re worrying about?”

Why the heck did he suggest moving in with her? Is he having an early mid-life crisis?

“Come on, nothing will happen. She scares the heck of me.”

Woohyun put his hand on my shoulder and looked at me, “Look, I can do this. Trust me. When have I ever gone wrong in a mission? This is just a mission. Think of it that way. It’s all for work.”

I let out a sigh and after much thought, I decided to let him go through with this.

“Oh well, if you go to jail, my partner might be a girl.”

“Thanks man!”

Dear God, what am I letting Woohyun get himself into?

You and Woohyun, along with the two objecting witnesses were at a café to sign the contract.

“Okay,” you clapped your hands together, “We are all here today to witness the-”

Minho nudged you and frowned.

“You know, you let me have no fun.”

“So what does this contract say exactly?” Sunggyu asked.

“Well, let’s go through this together. The first page discusses the purpose of moving in together and also the division of the money; which is 55:45, my way.”

“Just like me discussed.”

You then flipped to the other page, “Now, don’t be alarmed by the large amount of writing. They are just the house rules.”

“What? They’re longer than the actual money agreement,” said Woohyun as he flipped through the other pages.

“Yeah, that’s because we must make sure that everything is completely understood and clear so there will be no loop holes or confusion. Look, for you, I even used small words.”

Sunggyu frowned as he picked up the contract, “We’re going to read over the contract on our own to make sure it’s to our liking.”

You nodded your head, “Okay.”

You then stood up, “I’m going to buy something to drink.”

Once you and Minho walked away, Sunggyu grabbed the contract and began thoroughly reading it.

“This is ridiculous, there’s a bathroom schedule!”

“Well, it says there, it’s to prevent any one walking into the other, you know, when they’re… underdressed…” said Woohyun.

Sunggyu flicked Woohyun’s forehead, “Yah! What are you thinking?! She’s under aged!”

“Exactly! I don’t want her looking at me when I’m unclothed.”

Sunggyu exhaled, “There’s a curfew of 9pm? You can’t do anything.”

“It’s because she doesn’t want to be disturbed when she’s sleeping. She’s was one step ahead of me because of her hearing.”

Woohyun took the contract off Sunggyu and picked up the pen.

“Whoa! You’re signing without reading it?”

“You know, I’m going to have to live with her for a minimum of six months. There has to be trust somewhere in this partnership right?”

Sunggyu closed his eyes and rubbed his temples, “Fine. Do whatever then. I seriously don’t care anymore. I give up.”

“Now that’s the spirit!” Woohyun slapped Sunggyu’s arm.
