New School Year

Summer passed by and soon the new school year came. Jongup, Daehyun, and Youngjae were all college students now. Still they would live at home and commute to school. Youngjae didn’t even want to live in the dorms even they offered free tuition. He thought the idea of living apart from any of you was strange.

Zelo would become a junior now and you were now a senior. However, Zelo would continue to go to Seoul Arts High School but you were transferring to Kangnam Academy where Eunhae was. You had taken an achievement test and placed high enough to be able to go there.

It was the morning of your first day at school. You smoothed your braids and looked at yourself in the mirror. Your new white and orange uniform fit you perfectly. Smiling, you grabbed your backpack and skipped downstairs.

All of the boys were home. Zelo would start school tomorrow and the college boys didn’t even start school yet.

“Damn girl. Look at you. Any kind of uniform fits you so perfectly.” Himchan leaned in to kiss you but Daehyun purposely walked between you two. “Hey! I was trying to give her a good morning kiss!” Himchan shouted in fake rage. “Why do you think I came in here?” Daehyun smirked. Himchan scowled.

Yongguk poured coffee into his mug and took a sip. “You ready for your first day at a new school?”

You took a deep breath to calm your nerves but smiled excitedly and nodded, “I’m ready to start fresh.”

“Awesome. I know you’ll do well.” Yongguk adoringly pinched your cheek.

Youngjae came into the kitchen, “Yeojin, tell Eunhae I’ll pick her up after school.”

“You know, oppa.” You turned around and gave him an amused look, “I don’t know if you knew but there are things called cellphones nowadays…”

Daehyun laughed. Youngjae rolled his eyes, “Way to be sarcastic Song Yeojin. Just don’t forget who taught you that sarcasm.” You chuckled.

“You want me to give you a ride to school?” Yongguk asked. “With one of your customer’s cars? No thanks. I can catch the bus. Bye!” You waved and left the house.

Luckily you didn’t get lost and arrived at your new school just on time. Eunhae was waiting in front of the gate for you. She saw you and perked up. “Yeojin!” She waved widely so that you could see her. You laughed and waved back. The two of you ran towards each other and caught each other in a tight embrace. “I’M SO HAPPY YOU MOVED TO MY SCHOOL!”

You beamed, “Me, too! I can actually go to school you now!”

Eunhae pulled back and rolled her eyes, “Ugh, I know. Doesn’t make sense that best friends have to go to school apart from each other.” You giggled. She beamed and hooked her arm through yours, “Ready for school?” “Ready!” You claimed, causing an eruption of giggles.

The two of you skipped into the pristine neat school. Students were chattering, laughing, and solving homework problems together. *Wow. So different from my old school.* You smiled. You didn’t receive hateful glares anymore, a good change that you were starting to like very much.

“Chorong! Eunji!” Eunhae waved.

The two girls looked up and waved brightly. The four of you met in the middle and you were bombarded by hugs. “YOU’RE GOING TO OUR SCHOOL NOW! KYAAA!” You laughed and hugged them back.

It was nice to be welcomed by friends to a new setting. You had met Chorong and Eunji over the summer. Chorong was a cute girl who loved gymnastis. Eunji was a pretty girl who was the most cheerful person you knew.

They pulled back and beamed, “Welcome to Kangnam Academy!”

“Thank you.” You beamed.

The four of you gossiped and giggled together.

Suddenly Eunji gasped, “There’s Kai!”

*Who?* You turned your head to see a tall good-looking boy with dark brown hair walking down the hallway.

Girls swooned and ducked their heads in their books. *Girls. They’re all the same.* You chuckled and shook your head. “Kai is our school’s ulzzang.” Eunji informed. You nodded in understanding. *Daehyun oppa was our school’s ulzzang.* You looked up as he passed by.

At that moment, Kai turned his head and met eyes with you. His eyes lingered on you for more than a couple of seconds. The corner of his lips sprang up and he walked away.

“OHMYGOD! DID YOU SEE THAT?! KAI SMILED AT YOU!” Your friends excitedly squealed.

You blinked, “Is that a big deal?”

They eagerly nodded. “Kai doesn’t smile at just anyone. Lucky girl.” Chorong lightly elbowed you.

“You want me to introduce you to him? We’re on the student council team together.” Eunhae beamed.

“Er, no thanks.” You good-naturedly laughed. The bell rang.

“Come on! Let’s go to class!” Chorong put an arm around you and hopped up and down. Giggling, the four of you went to the classroom.
