The Color of Love

Description

Basic summary:

Eun Ae's spirit leads Onew to move on to a new love and a new life.~

That's where Key comes into his life.

Oh yes, this is a boy-loves-boy fanfictional story. If you wish to leave because this does not attract you in any way, please feel free to not read any further. BUT if you LOVE OnKey, JongKey, and 2MIN, then I highly suggest to continue reading. :)

Prologue: As soon as Lee Jinki married Choi Eunae, life was pure bliss for them. At the age of 18, people around them thought that they were nuts to get married at a young age. But, hey, Jinki and Eunae fell in love with each other since middle school. They''ve known each other since elementary school, so it wasn't hard to get each of their parents' approvals - all except Eunae's younger brother, Minho. He never wanted Eunae to get married so soon, since he's emotionally attached to her. He's been hating Jinki for taking away his sister from him ever since.

Other than that, life has been perfect between the lovers. After high school graduation, Jinki and Eunae got married. While attending college, Jinki managed to take care of Eunae and his newborn baby Hyunki, who Eunae gave birth to 9 months after they got married.

Everything was fine until 6 months after Hyunki was born. Eunae passes away, leaving a depressed husband with a crying and also depressed baby. Jinki loves Hyunki as much as he loves Eunae, and believes that no one else can replace her in his heart.

But what happens when fate ties Jinki to meet a person who's exactly like Eunae - except this person is a guy?! o_O

Foreword

November 24, 1999

I walked around my school and noticed a little girl around my age sniffing the beautiful flowers. I couldn't help but be attracted by her beauty. She had long black straight hair which reached below her shoulders and wore a pink frilly dress. Her light skin glowed in the morning sun.

I walked towards her and greeted myself with a smile on my face. "Hi! My name is Lee Jinki. Who might you be?"

The little girl looked up at me and smiled brightly. "Hello, my name is Choi Eunae. Nice to meet you, Jinki-sshi." We both shook hands and glanced at the pretty flowers.

"These are my favorite flowers, zephyrantus." I looked skeptically at her.

"Zephywha-?" I tilted my head in confusion. She lightly chuckled at me and slightly pushed me by the arm.

"Zephyrantus are my favorite flowers." she explained briefly and looked back at the flowers.

"Why do you like zephyrantus?" I asked her. Eunae looked back at me and replied, "Because they're the first flowers I've seen in my life that are pink."

"Do you like the color pink?" She nodded. "Why?"

"Because it's the color of love!" She exclaimed proudly as she looked up at the sky. Note to self: Every time you see her, give her zephyrantus and buy her anything that has pink on it.

"Will you marry me?" I asked Choi Eunae a few months before high school graduation.

I proposed to her traditionally bending down on one knee and showing her a diamond cut ring - an engagement ring which Taemin, my nephew, helped pick out as I was babysitting him in the mall last weekend. I mentally thanked him and decided he should be the ring bearer for our wedding, if Eunae says yes.

Eunae blushed in embarrassment and looked around the classroom. Ah yes, I proposed to her in front of our shocked classmates during free time at school. I don't care what they say - I love her!

"SAY YES! CHOI EUNAE! SAY YES! CHOI EUNAE!" Our classmates were chanting in English. I rolled my eyes at their silly antics. I made another mental note to have the reception huge so that all my classmates would attend.

Eunae smiled brightly as warm fresh tears spilled from her eyelids. "Yes, I'll marry you, Onew." She's been calling me Onew ever since we were little children. She used to comment a lot on how soft my skin was that she decided to come up with a nickname for me, which was Onew. I didn't mind her calling me that. ONLY SHE SHOULD CALL ME THAT, THOUGH. NO ONE ELSE.

WAIT. LET ME REGISTER THAT LAST THING SHE SAID.

SHE SAID YES?!

"Omo~ really?!" I asked in disbelief. She nodded rapidly and jumped into my welcoming arms. I grinned like a goofy idiot as our classmates around us cheered for joy.

The day when Eunae and I got married. On our honeymoon, she made me the happiest man alive. I love her so much even before she started to have feelings for me. I don't care what anybody says - we're in love, and nothing will stop us from spending the rest of our lives together.

Not even Choi Minho, Eunae's younger brother. He's always loved her and sometimes can even be more overprotective than their parents are over Eunae. I love him like my own brother, but I'm afraid he doesn't see me that way, ever since I proposed to Eunae. Hey, at least I pestered him to be my best man in the wedding. :)

I massaged Eunae's shoulder as she cradled the baby in her arms.

"Onew, what should we name him?" she asked me. I began to think, but I'm not creative, so I wouldn't know what to even call the baby of my child.

Just then, outside of our hospital room, we heard voices in the hallway.

"KIM JONGHYUN! KIM KIBUM! HOW DARE YOU TWO TRY TO ELOPE?! YOU'RE LUCKY YOU TWO NEVER GOT RUN OVER AT THAT TIME!!!" I could hear an elderly woman yell at a young couple, most likely. I chuckled silently and shook my head.

Suddenly, the idea just came into my head. Thank you, Kim Jonghyun and Kim Kibum!

"Eunae-yah! What if we name the baby Hyunki?!" I exclaimed proudly, my smile never leaving my face. Eunae looked glad and pleased with my decision.

"Okay then! Hyunki, welcome to life~! I'm Eunae, your beloved mother, and this man standing next to me is Onew, your father." she greeted the baby as he slowly opened his eyes at us. I giggled at her silly gestures. Man, I love them so much! :D

Why'd you have to leave? Why'd you have to go, Eunae?

I love you - Hyunki loves you! We both need you in our lives; no one can replace you....

I cried silent tears as my knees gave way, and know I'm kneeling in front of her tombstone. Minho was as cold to me as ever, but he decided to soften up a bit, since it wasn't my fault. Even he knew that.

As it turns out, Eunae discovered during high school that she had cancer, and only she and Minho knew that from the doctor once. Their parents were out on a business trip at the time, and Eunae didn't want to bother me with this, so she declined every treatment offered to her. That's why Minho had been mad at me this whole time - it was after he learned Eunae wanted to live her life with me in peace rather than get treated to even TRY to get better that he got angry with me.

Stupid Eunae. You only tell me 2 weeks ago that you're dying of cancer? And it was after you fell unconsciously during your classes that I had to find out? Stupid! You should've gotten better!

I love you, Eunae, and no one will replace you and Hyunki in my heart.

Minho took care of Hyunki during the weekends and he often visited me nowadays. He wanted to make it up to me for all those times that he gave me a hard time. I told him he didn't have to, but he insisted on it. I let him, since he's Eunae's brother and seeing Hyunki will help the boy at ease.

Not like me. I'd only smile around Minho and Hyunki genuinely, but towards everyone else I'd just stay quiet and be at content. I never tried finding love again. I have all I need.

Minho sadly declined Hyunki's request to hang out with us at the park since he has to start his 1st year in college. I wished him good luck as he left to his classes.

I played with a 4 year old Hyunki around the playground. I chased him until I caught him in my arms and I lifted him in the air, pretending he was in an airplane. My back felt a bit weak, so I had to put Hyunki back down and let him play with the other children at the mini playground.

I sat on a bench and watched my son play on the swings with other children. I felt a presence and turned to my right, my jaw dropping as my eyes widened.

I couldn't utter a word.

This boy had a nice smile, and I swear, he could pass as Choi Eunae if he grew his hair long enough.

Not only that, but he was wearing pink. PINK. And he plucked a zephyrantus flower beside him from a bush, sniffing it and taking a deep sigh.

Lord, are playing tricks with me...?

Oh my... I just found this fic but I've gotta say, it's my all time fav multi-chap SHINee fic as of now. I couldn't even stop reading this at all, and was SUPER disappointed when I got to chapter 11, since you haven't updated yet.
You're an amazing author and I just love how original this story plot is. It's a little bit fluffy but also heart racingly angsty and creepy. It's just simply put... AMAZING. I have no actual words to describe how much I loved this.
And I'm rooting for Onkey even though Jongie's back to normal... I'm sorry but it's not like Key-Umma can just erase the memories of his psychopath days >.> haha, well PLEASEEE update soon?? I'll be waiting~~ <3 :D
