First day of school Part II

L. Joe looked at his new classroom. *This is it?* Without any hint of anxiousness, he boldly stepped inside. Once he came in, heads turned towards him.

Boys stared at him and whispered to each other. Most girls perked up at the new boy.

“Is he new?”

“He’s cute!”

“Finally! New boy!”

“Who the hell is he?”

L. Joe took an empty seat in the back next to a boy with jet black hair and big, puppy eyes.

He started to stare but L. Joe heeded no attention to him. The boy sat up in his desk and hissed, “Hey.” L. Joe paused then slowly turned his head.

“I saw you in the hallway with Pixie.” The boy said. L. Joe gave him a strange look, “Pixie?” *What the hell is this? Fairyland?*

“Pixie. You know, Lee Saerom. Everyone calls her Pixie because she’s cute, small, and has this magical glow around her all the time. You know what I’m talking about.” The boy said.

L. Joe did but just scowled. *Stupid nickname. Chatterbox suits her better.*

“And her ears are kinda pointy. Adorable, really.” He chuckled.

L. Joe raised an eyebrow. His common sense told him that this boy had a crush on you.

“Anyways, I heard you were her brother. I didn’t know she was really going to go through with it but I guess she really needed you.” L. Joe continued to ignore him. “You know your adoptive sister is really popular, right?” The boy asked. L. Joe looked at him.

The boy casually shrugged, “Everyone likes her, except for the royal bitches, but of course they don’t like anyone. Saerom is kind and helpful and really smart. Most of the guys have or had crushed on her.” *Including you.* L. Joe thought.

“So I really have to ask something about the school’s perfect Pixie…” The boy leaned in and whispered, “Is she really crazy?”

L. Joe furrowed his eyebrows, “What do you mean by crazy?”

“You know? Weird in the head? Mental? Psychotic? Schizophrenic?” The boy questioned.

L. Joe was still confused. *If he’s asking if she talks a lot, yes. But psychotic? Schizophrenic? Not that I know of…*

“Hmm. I guess not then. She had been depressed and in an unstable mental condition for a while. I guess she got over it.” The boy shrugged. L. Joe gave him a baffled look, “What do you mean depressed? What unstable mental condition?” The boy opened his mouth to speak but the teacher came in. The boy ducked his head in the books.

*Damn it! You can’t just leave me hanging! Whatever. Probably just a bunch of gossip.* L. Joe lay back in his seat, unimpressed and bored already.

Hours later it became lunch. The empty hallways began to fill with students and staff once again. L. Joe was amongst one of them and his desk partner, whose name he had found out was Cha Myunghoon, led him to the cafeteria. “Oppa! Oppa!” A voice called. “OPPA!” Someone grabbed L. Joe and spun him around.

You beamed up at him, “Didn’t you hear me?! I’ve been calling you from all across the hall! Sheesh!” *It’s not that I didn’t hear you. It’s that I didn’t want to.* He scowled. “How was class? Good? Did you make any friends?” You asked.

“Byunghun-“ Myunghoon froze when he saw you. His ears became red as cherries.

Your eyes rounded in pleasant surprise, “Oh! You did make a friend!” You held your hand out with a friendly smile, “Annyeonghasayo~ I’m Byunghun oppa’s sister Saerom!”

Myunghoon’s ears turned redder, if possible, and shook your hand, “I-I know.”

You beamed, “Please treat my brother well and show him around the school!” L. Joe rolled his eyes.

“A-araso.” Myunghoon stuttered.

“Bye, oppa! See you after school!” You waved and went back to your parents.

“…Since we’re friends now, you’ll invite me over to your house, right?” Myunghoon innocently blinked. L. Joe walked away with a grimace. “Wait up!” Myunghoon ran after him.

The day passed by rather slowly for L. Joe. Finally, to his relief, his first day was over. L. Joe grabbed his backpack and headed to the exit. He wondered why his male classmates had gathered in front of the door. “Hi, oppa!” Someone perkily chirped. L. Joe did a double take and his jaw drop *What the hell?! Where did she come from?!* “What the hell are you doing here?!”

You beamed and pushed yourself off the wall. “I came to go home with you, silly.” You hugged your books closely to your chest and giggled.

Boys enviously looked at him. “I wish I was in his spot.” One whispered.

*Take it, for all I care.* L. Joe stormed off.

“Wait for me!” You ran up to catch up with him. L. Joe stalked out the door with a huff. “Oppa, wait! I’m shorter than you!” You squealed and ran to catch up with him. “Wait!” You grabbed his arm and tried to catch your breath.

L. Joe yanked his arm away, “Did you have to embarrass me like that?!”

You blinked fast, “I embarrassed you?

” “HELL YES!” He yelled in your face, making you flinch backwards. “Next time don’t wait for me, araso?!”

You held out a hand and solemnly nodded, “I promise.” L. Joe sighed *At least she got the hint now.* “I’ll just wait at the gate.” You added. L. Joe smacked his forehead and gritted his teeth.

You giggled, “Let’s go. Mom told us to hurry up. She made dukkbokki.”

“Your mom, not mine.” L. Joe muttered but followed you nonetheless.

“So how was your day? What did you do in class? Do you like your new friend?” You threw random questions at him, making him walk faster.

“OPPA, WAIT!”
