“That’s all my report, Your Majesty.” The guy bowed down. The minister glanced over to the king on the throne. “Your Majesty?” The minister called out. “You’re sure about it?” The king asked the guy. He nodded. “The citizen had been favoured of him since he won that big war.” The guy said. The minister gave his bow. “May I say my opinion, Your Majesty?” The king nodded with a hum. “I think you need to be careful. His accusation over those letters isn’t still cleared. With the support he had from the citizen, he might gain a good force to take away the throne.” “But…” “Your Majesty.” The minister looked up to him. “The queen and the princess also favour him.” The king huffed. The minister looked down. “I’m just giving advice, Your Majesty. People can change over time. Sometimes, we overlook the closest enemy.” The king stared at the minister. “Gather more solid proof and I will think about it.” The king said. The minister nodded and glanced over the guy. The guy nodded and left after giving his bow to the two. The king dismissed his minister and left alone at the throne. He was thinking, swimming through the past and present. His heart clenched, his mind was a mess. ‘Why we come to this, Mingyu?’     “Do we really need to take over that land? It’s-” Mingyu put up his hand to silent his right man. “Soonyoung, it’s the king’s order.” “That’s why I’m voicing out, because this is absurd. The South has nothing but criminals, bandits. Even we take the land, we won’t get anything from it. This war is just-” “Soonyoung.” Soonyoung turned to the guy next to him. “Jun, I said the right thing.” Junhui sighed and turned to his master. Mingyu looked calm as he watched the soldiers made their preparation for the war under the king’s command. “Mingyu.” Mingyu just smiled to them. “It’s an order.” Soonyoung groaned while Junhui looked down. “Just prepare to full extend. We will bring back glory.” Mingyu added. “As much as I didn’t like this order, I will protect you with my life, like always, my general.” Soonyoung said with firm tone. Junhui nodded. “You have me too.” Mingyu smiled and patted the shoulder of them both. “Protect yourself first.” Mingyu said in leader tone and ordered them to continue preparing together with others. Mingyu was left alone; he turned and looked to a direction. The palace. ‘I’m going to return and deal with you, Wonwoo. I can’t stay at the side anymore, I need to save you before it’s too late.’     “Princess! Wait!” The servants were panicked and tried to stop the girl but they failed when she already stepped into the working room. Wonwoo was at the table, reading over records that he needed to take care today. He looked up and saw Eunwoo was walking to him. He knew she would be here but didn’t know it was so soon. “Your Majesty, I’m sorry-” “It’s okay, just get back to your position.” The servants nodded and left the siblings alone in the room. Eunwoo slapped her palms on the table, eyes red glaring at her brother. “Oppa, what you’re thinking?! Why you sent Mingyu oppa there? How could you? Are you nuts?” Wonwoo looked at Eunwoo. “It’s for the kingdom. He’s a general, he led an army. It’s nothing weird or crazy for a king to send his general for a war.” Eunwoo groaned. “But! You send him to South! Oppa, everyone in this kingdom knows-” “I’m the king, Princess Eunwoo. I know what I’m doing and that’s a necessary command. You’re being rude here, princess. This is an act of going against me.” Eunwoo clenched her fist. “You- you changed, Wonwoo oppa. You’re not him anymore. You’re the worst!” Eunwoo cried out, leaving with tears flowing down. She ran out from the room and left. Wonwoo watched her steps and just gave a blank look. Staring into spaces, he pondered for a while before continuing his tasks. The news of Mingyu’s army left for taking over the South land had reached Eunwoo and the queen prior a day after his leaving. Eunwoo was angry, couldn’t believe her brother did that ridiculous order. Everyone knew that land wasn’t a land that worth to be conquered. It was a dead land, full of criminals and bloodshed to fight over living. Everybody was aware; it was like a death sentence if you’re sent to the said land. The queen tried to talk with Wonwoo about that but Wonwoo didn’t give any response. The queen was worried over Eunwoo more than questioning Wonwoo’s intention of sending an army to a dead land. Since the time Eunwoo went to find Wonwoo, the princess hadn’t stop crying and refused to eat. She was protesting and fell into depression, worrying over Mingyu. The queen really worried to see the princess’s condition day by day and she met Wonwoo few times to persuade her son to help the princess but Wonwoo didn’t listen. The royal family was in a great tension ever since Mingyu’s departure. Wonwoo was stressed with the queen’s visit; eventually seek comforts from his most trusted minister. The queen was worried sick about the princess’s health that kept worsening over time, as the days turned weeks. Because of her refusal to eat and had to feed her by force, she caught in fever and exhaustion because the lack of nutrient consumed. The queen later was busy taking care of the sick Eunwoo. A month passed and Eunwoo’s condition wasn’t getting better. The royal physician told the queen was just the matter of time until they lost the princess. There’s nothing can be done because Eunwoo’s body was deteriorating badly and the princess was still refusing to eat properly. There’s one day Eunwoo requested to meet Wonwoo. The queen followed her request and called over her son. Wonwoo was refusing at first, giving excuses over his task as the king. “Wonwoo, please. Just this one time, come and see her. This may be the last time ever.” Wonwoo stared at his mother. “What do you mean?” “Eunwoo’s health had been bad recently. Wonwoo, she’s dying.” Wonwoo frowned and began to walk. The queen followed, both of them walked to where Eunwoo was. Wonwoo had heard from his mother about Eunwoo’s condition, but he never listened thoroughly. He didn’t thought it was that bad. Dying? His entrance was announced. Wonwoo stepped into Eunwoo’s room alone as he requested and looked around. His legs made its way to the bed. It had been so long since he was here, and he couldn’t remember the last time he saw Eunwoo. But he knew… the girl he was seeing on the bed wasn’t Eunwoo that he remembered. “Eunwoo…” The princess opened her eyes and saw Wonwoo. “How did you become like this…” The light smile curved on Eunwoo’s lips. “How- you, uhuk, you know how oppa.” Wonwoo frowned. “Eunwoo, you like this just because of him? Does he really worth it?” Wonwoo tried not to raise his voice. He was hurt, didn’t know what exactly the reason but it was painful for him. Eunwoo looked above her. “Oppa, you’re doing wrong. How did you throw away the trust? We’re friends with Mingyu, how you couldn’t trust him?” Eunwoo said in between pause because it’s hard for her to talk without being in pain. She turned to him. Wonwoo was looking away. “Why oppa?” “You don’t need to know.” Eunwoo exhaled. “I’m still mad at you oppa. So mad that I don’t feel like living and see you.” Wonwoo’s face hardened. Eunwoo took a breath, trying to gather more strength to talk. “But these days, I was thinking. Of why you felt so distant, you’re not the same oppa I know.” Eunwoo stared at Wonwoo. “Many thoughts come to me, but I feel like I know the exact answer even though I can’t accept it.” Wonwoo clenched his fists. “You’re torturing yourself over something not important and stupid. You don’t love yourself, forcing destruction over your body and worrying omamama.” Wonwoo said. Eunwoo exhaled. “You have the point. But you’re even worst, oppa. You sell yourself to the devil. You couldn’t see the real evil right before you, just because you’re busy concealing yourself.” Wonwoo gripped his fists. “What are you saying?” “You should have just tell me instead of suppressing it and acted on your jealousy. Who knows… who knows we could fight equally over him?” Wonwoo startled. He stared at Eunwoo. Eunwoo smiled. “I was right after all. You’re so messed up, oppa. You can’t lose him when you know you can’t have him. You’re hiding things, bearing it alone and somehow you didn’t realize you’re doing something because of that feeling.” Wonwoo looked away. Eunwoo had laid his hidden feelings bare. “What do you know…?” Wonwoo’s lips trembled. “I’m in the place that would never have the chance. I’m the king that rules this kingdom. Everyone is looking on me. That path was lonely.” Wonwoo let out a snicker. “I envied you who had controlled on your own life.” Eunwoo exhaled. “You should tell me.” “How could I tell you, Eunwoo? How should I tell you when you-“ Eunwoo sighed. “And it’s the fault… you believed the wrong person.” Wonwoo looked at Eunwoo. Eunwoo’s breath was getting short as she kept talking, Wonwoo just noticed. Eunwoo took a deep breath. “You’re going to regret everything, oppa.” “You don’t have the right to say that.” Eunwoo smiled softly. “Why- we come- to this, oppa…” Wonwoo froze when Eunwoo’s eyes dropped close. He couldn’t move when he saw there’s no movement of her chest like earlier. Wonwoo stood there dumbfounded before he dropped on the floor
