Romance in the Church (Hiatus)Moments after lunch that day….
Shinhye helped Seyeon and Yonggon clear the table. As she stacked the plates and bowls on top of each other, Seyeon approached her and took them to the kitchen. Where Yonggon had gotten started on the dishes. With his sleeves rolled up, Shinhye could see the scars on his forearms. Now leaned up against the threshold, she watched as he cleaned thoroughly. She always found it impressive that the lad nearly lacked in both energy nor passion when it comes to tidying up. He and Himcha are great at keeping the building clean inside and out.
“Shinhye,” from the side, the one being called turned to face a smiley Seyeon. “Can we talk for a moment?” Turning her body toward her friend, Shinhye nodded with the corners of her lips curled up. A gesture that said ‘continue’ or ‘I’m listening’. Suddenly, all shy, Seyeon twirled her index fingers and began slowly, “It’s about...that...man,”
The listener cocked her head to the side, “Which man?” She questioned rather innocently.
“The man you brought in….”
“Ah,” Shinhye sang, “Youngjae. What about him? Did he caused trouble?”
Seyeon shook her head rapidly, “No!” she gasped, “I mean…,” she quickly recovered her gaze by diverting her gaze, “I’ve said some things I shouldn’t have said to him. And…,”
Judging by her voice alone, Shinhye had Seyeon figured out in an instant, “I was going to have him help Himcha sweep the outdoors but I suppose I can give him a break. Take your time and find a moment to talk to him,” Shinhye smiled softly. In front of her Seyeon blushed a little.
“Thank you Shinhye,”
When Seyeon left the room, Yonggon turned around and noticed Shinhye was still by the door. The woman smiled, from ear to ear, to him, “You should take a break too Yonggon. Your hands prove you’ve been playing with water all day,” as she turned to leave, Yonggon stopped her momentarily.
“On a more serious matter, what are you going to do about tomorrow?”
Shinhye heaved a sigh as she folded her arms over her chest, then with a deep breath, she answered, “You know how it is. I’ll just have to find a way to make up for the loss this month,”
Yonggon shut the water off without looking at the faucet. He blinked and pivoted his head away. “How? Remember what Daewon said last time? That if we’re short this time too, he’s not going to let it go,”
The woman tightened her jaw, “Either way. As long as he doesn’t expose Seyeon’s stay here. I trust that he will give us another chance—” this time Yonggon turned his whole back to her. From behind, she could tell he was trying to keep it together. His hands were in the form of two hard fists and his knuckles were digging into the counter’s surface. “He’ll give up eventually. If I keep it up, I know he will give in. Just watch me, Yonggon. We won’t have to—”
Yonggon pulled the rag, wrapped around the back of his neck, off and dropped it onto the ground. Then with a sharp inhalation, he turned around and walked over to Shinhye. Without a warning, he arrested her by the elbows and pulled her in for a hard kiss. As his lips touched hers, nothing but madness was running through his head. Would this shatter their relationship? Why must she wait for someone else? Why can’t she love him the way he loves her?
With every emotion and feeling Yonggon has been feeling, he conveyed them all through his and Shinhye’s first kiss. Meanwhile, the lass furrowed her brows as she tolerated his action. Her folded arms were now loose as she pressed both hands against his hard stomach.
Despite her calmness, Yonggon knew he had screwed up. But in the moment nothing tasted better than her lips. Nothing felt better than her skin.
Nothing made him warmer than her heat.
After Yonggon released Shinhye and returned to finish up with his cleaning, the woman got to planning in her office almost immediately. As if what just happened meant nothing to very little for her. As he mopped the dining room’s floors with an old rag, he thought he heard Youngjae and Seyeon outside of the room.
Poking his head out from around the corner, Yonggon listened in on the pair carefully. When he couldn’t hear them clearly, he showed his face. Instantly, he caught a glimpse of Youngjae’s gaze. The man seemed to be smirking at him before he took Seyeon by the wrist and hauled her out. Yonggon’s heart skipped a beat.
He dropped everything he was doing and hurried up the staircase. As he ap
