INTRODUCTION

Almost immediately after a misunderstanding which caused Mo Yeon to break things off with Si Jin, Mo Yeon is involved in an accident which causes her to fall into a coma. While her body is left in a vegetative state, her consciousness goes back to one of her previous lives, which occurred in the early 18th century. 

 During the reign of KING GIL JOON no male heir was produced who survived past infancy. As a result the King's many nephews found themselves fighting over the title of crowned prince. Upon the princess's 15th birthday, the king announced to the gentry and his high ranking military officials that the one to win his stubborn daughters heart would be named the crowned prince. Princes in name, though not by birth, his nephews flock to the capital accompanied by their militias in an attempt to woo the stubborn princess who's heart already belongs to a lower ranking soldier.

INTRODUCING THE CHARACTERS

The First Prince passed away shortly after birth due to poisoning by his wet nurse.

 SECOND PRINCE YOON AR GUS is the oldest nephew, his mother having married the King's older brother who was stripped of his title of crowned prince after being caught ing with a eunuch.

 Third Prince Yoon Sun Hwa passed his third birthday after wandering into the royal gardens and drowning in the pond.

The FOURTH PRINCE SONG SANG HYUN lives in a villa inside the capital with his feisty but often ill wife

  PRINCESS HA JA AE, who was the daughter of one of the previous King's concubines.

FIFTH PRINCE YOO SI JIN is actually the King's biological son, although his mother was married to his younger brother, 

 GENERAL YOO YOUNG GEUN, after being a court lady for only a few short months. He has little interest in politics and is quickly rising in the​ military ranks. If not for the previous King's favor of this grandson his father would have had him banished, for he looks much like his mother, whom the then Crowned Prince adored. He wishes for nothing more than to be accepted by the man who he knows is his biological father, no matter the love he holds for his adopted father.

His best friend SEO DAE YOUNG is his second in command and frequently visits the capitol in his stead to report to the General.

SIXTH PRINCE HAN SUK WON is a known womanizer who is already a familiar face in the capital and holds political power over a neighboring province to the capital city.

 SEVENTH and EIGHTH PRINCES LEE CHI HOON and LEE KI BUM are twins who are often seen causing mischief and pranking each other. They are only officially after the princess's favor due to their mother's insistence.

PRINCESS YOON (MYUNG JU) is the King's only recognized child and the daughter of his favorite concubine. She is high-spirited and willful, often seen running around the capital dressed as a junior swordsman. Well loved by the commoners, she is commonly referred to as Myung Ju by the people instead of her official title of Princess Yoon.

LADY KIM EUN JI is the head of the harem.

Although LADY NA HYE JOO* is most loved by the king, she is of common birth and has a weak constitution after a number of miscarriages with Myung Ju being her only live birth, making it impossible to take charge of anything. Lady Kim knows that as long as she doesn't mess with Lady Na her position is safe even though she has never had a confirmed pregnancy. 

 COURT LADY PYO JI SOO was the previous King's most adored concubine(although she was only 20 at the time of his passing and 10 years younger than the current king) and is now the head courtesan. She keeps the palace running smoothly in the absence of a queen, queen-mother,  or crowned princess.

KANG MO YEON is the younger cousin of Princess Ha who has been living in the capital to help her cousin overcome her illnesses.

+++THE STORYLINE FOR THIS FICTION IS LOOSELY BASED OFF OF MOON LOVERS (SCARLET HEART: RYEO). ALTHOUGH I WATCHED THE KOREAN VERSION AND NOT THE CHINESE VERSION, I DID WATCH THE SCARLET HEART 2 ON VIKI AND FOUND IT TO BE LACKING WHEN IT CAME TO CONNECTING THE ORIGINAL STORYLINE TO THE SECOND HALF. IF THIS GOES OVER WELL I AM HOPING TO FOLLOW UP WITH A SIMILAR CONTINUATION, THOUGH I EXPECT IT TO BE NOTHING LIKE SC2, CONSIDERING I'M USING DOTS CHARACTERS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BACKGROUND STORY FOR ALL OF THE DOTS CHARACTERS ARE CANNON. THIS STORY PICKS UP IN KOREA AFTER EVERYONE RETURNS FROM CANADA.+++
