Suspicious Partner | Season 2 (Rewrite in progress)

Description

Characters

No Ji Wook
Prosecutor turned Defense Lawyer turned Prosecutor

No Ji Wook graduated top of his class and received a perfect score in the bar exam. However,  he was consistently voted worst prosecutor year after year because of his rigid adherence to the rule of law and disdainful attitude towards peers and criminals alike. An ill-fated woman blows into his life and turns it upside down.

Eun Bong Hee's presence leads to a string of disasters that ends his prosecutor career. This setback, however, turns out to be the very catalyst for him to realize that truth is not always obvious and life is not black and white. With Bong Hee's help, he finds his path back to being a Prosecutor who isn't just there to punish the guilty; but also to uphold justice.

Eun Bong Hee
Taekwondo Champion turned Prosecutor Trainee turned Murder Suspect turned Lawyer

The path for Eun Bong Hee has not always been straightforward. As a child she was recognized more for her athletic talents than any book smarts. But an unfair encounter with those who should be upholding justice and the prosecution of her own father makes Eun Bong Hee determined to tackle Law and make sure people like herself and her father can find justice.

While she may not be the smartest in the room, she has determination and a solid sense of justice and integrity on her side. She overcomes all the challenges life throws at her to chase her dreams of being a lawyer who defends the innocent. And life does indeed throw the book at her with a cheating boyfriend, catty peers, a temperamental supervisor, false imprisonment, dead body, murder accusations and a painful unrequited love.

She comes through on the other side stronger and more confident and in the process finds love, makes friends and discovers what it means to be in a relationship and still be her own woman. Her boyfriend, No Ji Wook (the aforementioned temperamental supervisor), has recently proposed and they are about to embark on one of the toughest challenges yet: building a life together.

Ji Eun Hyuk
Defense Lawyer

Ji Eun Hyuk seems to lead a blessed life. Born in luxury, easygoing, good-looking and smart; it seems like life has handed him everything. But Ji Eun Hyuk knows that what is on the outside may not always match what lies within. He hides his pain of losing his childhood friend and fighting a forbidden love with wide smiles and laughter. After all, it was his very own betrayal of his friend that led to what happened and he does not deserve to wallow in pity.

But life has given him another chance at being a friend; and it seems life is also giving him another chance at love. Can he move past the hurt of yesterday and trust again? Will the love he thought was lost to him be within his reach?

Cha Yoo Jung
Prosecutor

Young , beautiful and brilliant, Cha Yoo Jung is on the fast track to become one of the top prosecutors in the district. She's not afraid to take on tough criminals or face down angry supervisors. But, she can't forget her one big mistake that led her to lose her lover as well her best friend. She fled the country for a few years then returned, hoping she could fix things with her ex-boyfriend and ex-friend but neither wanted anything to do with her.

In the end, it seems No Ji Wook has moved on with another woman and Cha Yoo Jung is now resigned to the fact that things are truly over between them.  To be honest she's not sure she even cares that much anymore. Lately her heart has fluttered when she is near her ex-bestfriend, Ji Eun Hyuk. Could she trust her heart or is she making the same mistake as last time?

Na Ji-Hae
Assistant Prosecutor

She was voted 'Most Likely To Suceed' in high school; though some also called her Queen B behind her back. B standing for that word that starts with B and ends with itch. She's no nonsense, and takes no prisoners when she knows what she wants. For instance, if she likes a boy it doesn't matter to her if he's taken or not. After all, if a relationship is strong enough the man wouldn't fall for her, would he? Obviously if he does then that relationship was no good in the first place and the other girl is better off without him.

The murder of someone close to her makes her realize that all her actions have consequences. She throws herself into her prosecutor job but finds her path keeps crossing with the most infuriating, shameless woman who matches her in terms of pure stubbornness. She had stolen Eun Bong Hee's previous boyfriend and Eun Bong Hee in return seems determined to exact revenge by using her in the most blatant ways. What comes as a surprise to both of them though is that somewhere along the road,  they are looking more like friends than enemies.

Na Ji Hae has never had a woman friend before. Could she and Eun Bong Hee escape the arguments of the past and become real friends?

Foreword

Hello Dear Readers,

This is going to be my attempt to write on a schedule. I'll see if I can stay with posting 2 episodes per week (Edited: intially I said one episode per week but I was rethinking that and a week is a pretty long time to wait for the story to develop).

A thank you to attriste who reminded me how much we miss No Ji Wook and Eun Bong Hee and set off the spark of inspiration.

And as always, big thanks to you, the readers who are reading this. I never knew when I first started If Fate Allows what a warm, welcoming community I would find here on AFF. I see your names always providing supportive comments and lovely feedback on this and other stories on AFF and I want you to know that every comment is so precious and appreciated by me and I'm sure by the other writers. Thank you for always being a source of inspiration and strength.

I hope you enjoy the story.

p/s  if there are any lawyers out there who can help a writer out with some fact-checking and don't mind answering questions,  I would so appreciate it :D

Dear Readers, I'm overdue for an update on this. But as I was writing the chapters I realized this was becoming more of a crime drama and less of a romance story. So I'm rewriting some things and redoing the plot so we can have lots of Eun Bong Hee and No Ji Wook moments. Please bear with me.
