Murder by Moonlight
Description
Song Saerin's life is the depiction of perfect. Above average at college, raised by loving parents, and with a drop-dead gorgeous boyfriend in tow, nothing could go wrong... that is until one night, tragedy strikes in the form of a near-death experience. Death in the form of a wolf out for blood.
I didn't think my life would end at the hands of an animal.
I always imagined dying old. On gloomier days, meeting my end in an accident: choking to death on toast, a road collision, or a stray bullet. Just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But never in my wildest imagination could I have predicted being at the mercy of a creature so unbelievably terrifying.
My death was slow and torturous. The animal – unnaturally large and heavy – had one of its paws pressed against my throat, crushing it into the hard sand beneath me. My entire body felt like a crumpling piece of paper under its weight. A bear? A lion? Preposterous. Neither of the kinds I imagined dwelled in Asia, let alone South Korea. But the identity of my killer shrouded in black was of little importance considering my lungs were now on fire, seemingly on the verge of being burnt to a crisp.
My heart felt like it was swelling horrifically as if a giant flame ignited in its core. My veins prickled painfully, bloodied fingers loosening around my captor's furry forearm, and my once-kicking legs stilled. But my vision was as accurate as could be. Despite the hot tears that welled in them, I could clearly see the beast's eyes. They glowed a vivid ivory; pupils dilated and focused on me with such dreadful intensity that I knew even in death, I would never forget such burning malice.
Please, I pleaded as desperately as I could, writhing, turning blue, vision beginning to fade. I don't want to die.
And with one last gaze into the predator's unfazed glower, the world turned as dark as my murder.
Foreword
This is a work of fiction, and if perhaps there are any similarities here with other works, please note it is purely coincidental, as the idea for this story was something I conjured mostly myself, along with the help of several sources of inspiration. All character portrayals are purely fictional.
Hello, everyone!
DST here returning not with a Bangtan fan fiction this time, but NCT. This group has slowly but surely crept into my heart, and having struggled to find decent wolf AU's in general (the struggle for decent NCT fics a very real one at this point too, might I add), I have decided to take it upon myself to write one.
I would like to point out that this story's wolf AU is going to feature a lot of different ideas and mechanics. One of the major goals I had for this story was to present a fresh new concept to something that's been used and abused over the years. To those unimpressed by the concept after having endured the unending cliche's and tropes, I do hope you give this story a chance and that it will leave a lasting impression on you. Another note I'd like to add is that the location for this story - Gwangsu - is totally fictional. Choosing to write about a real life location is difficult; I've attempted it many times before in other stories, and because of how hard it is to keep up with a place I've never been to and don't even know well, I've decided to simply create one.
Ah, I'm excited to be sharing this story after having worked hard on it for the past four months. Oh, and don't worry. There's going to be a love interest, but you can let it surprise you if you don't take a look at the tags, haha.
I do hope you give it a chance, have fun reading it, and that you consider leaving feedback. Comments are a great form of inspiration and motivation, so don't be afraid to drop some. I always make an effort to respond to them!
