Foreword

It was snowing, it had been snowing for three days straight now. On other occasions or other days, I would have been happy at the thought of snow, but today was not the case. I had just moved to Seoul a week back, with no friends, no acquantainces, no relatives to support me. I wish I could make some friends but university would not be starting until after a week. To crown it all, a snowstorm had just been announced while I was inside the grocery store. Well, at least I had groceries to last three days. The bus station had closed after the last bus had departed and my bags were quite heavy. Great. I made to cross the street as the cold wind was blowing into my face, freezing the tip of my nose.

I crossed the street, stopping dead in my tracks as I heard the screeching of tyres and people shouting around me. I out for a few seconds before opening my eyes to see the driver yelling something at me. I did not understand what he was saying but it was obvious that he was reprimanding me.

"I'm fine, I'm fine, sorry for causing trouble!" I apologised before running on to the pavement. Opposite me was the train station which was closing as well. There was a last round of buses taking people from the station to wherever it was they had to go. I slowed down as something caught my attention, a pale boy who looked around my age had just stomped out of the station and was walking away. He carried a black backpack and wore black clothes which did not seem warm enough to protect him from the wind and snow. From under his black beanie, flowed out equally black hair which contrasted with his unbelievably pale skin. He reached the pavement in front of me when suddenly he stumbled and and fell face-first into the snow with a loud thump.

I let out a small cry of surprise and rushed to him, dropping my bags on the ground. As my knees hit the frozen pavement, an unbearable sensation of cold hit my legs, seeping through several layers of clothing. I grabbed his shoulders and turned him around on the ground, attempting to prop his upper body up in my arms. His eyes were drooping heavily and his lips had turned bluish. What shocked me was the sight of his nose; it was bloody. He had probably hurt himself when he fell down. The rest of his face was as white as the snow beneath him.

"Hey! Are you okay?" I asked, alarmed. "Tell me your name and your address! I'll help you get home!" I shook him again.

"M-Min Yoongi," he mumbled. His accent was a bit off; he wasn't from here. "I need to get home to D-Daegu," he said again. I noticed that his hand was clutching a train ticket, I took it to check the time of his train, holding his hand in the process. His hand was ice cold inside the gloves.

"The station is closed, it won't reopen until the storm is over," I said firmly. "Do you have anywhere to stay in Seoul?" I asked him again. He shook his head.

"I need to get home to D-Daegu," he said again, his voice was getting more and more slurred.

"You'll have to wait until the storm is over," I said again, but he was already out cold - cold was an understatement. I thought of how to help him, my mind was racing. I needed to make a decision fast or this boy would freeze to death, and I would follow soon after. I hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"I'm taking you with me."
