Kihyun and Tris sat at the table with the dads at opposite ends and the mums opposite them. It had been two weeks since Kihyun had asked her to be his girlfriend and they were now breaking the news to their parents. Kihyun wanted them to know, before he could take Tris out on their first official date. Why was this so nerve-wracking?, Tris thought. She and Kihyun had rehearsed what they were going to say but now that it was happening, it was easier practiced than done.

"What if they think it’s weird?" Tris asked. Kihyun called her the night before he was coming over, so that they could discuss what they were going to say. “At first, I also had that thought but if we don't think it’s weird, then they won't”, Kihyun said. “Your mother raised me, she’s practically my second mother”, Tris said. “Yeah and dad says you are the daughter he’s always had”, Kihyun said making them chuckle. “Do you think they see us as...” Tris couldn’t finish her sentence.

“Babe calm down, it’s going to be fine”, Kihyun said, “They are going to be happy for us”. “How can you be so sure?”, Tris asked. “Do you think my mother would love a girl more than you, for me? I am her precious son after all. She wouldn’t just want any girl coming along and taking me away from her”, he said. “So I shouldn’t worry, because you are precious to your mother”, Tris asked. “No you shouldn’t worry because you are precious to me”, Kihyun said. “That makes no sense Kihyun”, Tris said frustrated.

“Tris, do you love me?”, Kihyun asked. Tris nodded. "I can't hear or see you nodding over the phone babe", he said. Tris smiled. “Is anything our parents say, going to change the way you feel about me?”, he asked. Tris shook her head. "Okay I heard that", Kihyun said making Tris giggle. “So then why are you worried?”, he asked. “Why are you not worried?”, Tris asked.

“Because I have known the 4 of them for the past 24 years, so I know that they are not going to be anything but happy for us, and deep down, so do you”, Tris nodded. "That's my girl", Kihyun said. “And if they aren’t happy, you can always run away from home and live in Monsta X’s dorm”. Kihyun's words and humour had calmed Tris down, making her feel more at ease about the situation.

“What did the two of you do this time?”, Soyou asked. “How bad can it be?” Bora asked. “Last time they were this nervous, was when they burnt the Christmas tree”, Woohyun said. “We were 9”, Tris and Kihyun said simultaneously causing the parents to laugh.
