Flowers
88.
When Jongin’s dance showcase rolled around, he found himself nervous. Kyungsoo and Chaeyeon said they both couldn’t make it, and like that, his confidence in himself had disappeared in a puff of smoke.
He swallowed, walking on to the stage, and the crowd cheers. And through the bright lights, he could make out two figures in the front row cheering the loudest. And suddenly, it was like he was on top of the world. He could nail every step, every movement, completely synced with the music.
His body moved as if it had a mind of his own, and that moment, he understood what Chaeyeon had said all those months ago about who he was dancing for. At that moment, he was dancing for himself.
It was perfect.
The moment ends too soon, and his arms are above his head, looped in an elegant but strong pose, and the audience roars for him, calling his name, and he knew that he had made the right decision in choosing dance. He bowed, running off the stage and getting pats on the backs from others.
The dressing room burst open a few minutes later, Chaeyeon and Kyungsoo nearly choking him with their arms around his neck. They yelled, barely coherent, “Surprise!”
“You both .”
That just made them grin wider, and Chaeyeon handed him a bouquet of flowers.
“What’s this for?”
“Aren’t you supposed to give someone flowers after a great performance?”
