Description

1480 of the Joseon Era. After the death of her father, Hyeon Mi disguises herself as a man and goes on a journey for her mother, rumored to be in China. Along way, somehow fate brings her to assist the Crown Prince Jiyong and his guards. Impressed, and short a body guard, the prince and his brother general Seunghyun persuade Hyeon Mi to temporarily join them. What seems to be just a small temporary journey, turns into something more.

“I’m sorry but I must decline your highness, I’m on a journey. I’m only traveling this way to find my mother. “

“I’m sure a man can survive well without his mother.” The prince gave me a cheeky grin. I fell silent, embarrassed. Wind whirling through the field cut the silence, but not the tension.

“This route is on its way to China.”  The tall armored man said, sheathing his sword and pointing to the dirt path a few feet away. “We are guarding his highness envory to China. Since we seem to be going the same way, you can join as a temporary body guard.”

I hesitated. I thought about how I could be easily found out, and it would be bad if I lost my identity as a man. Especially with a crown prince and his brother general around. 

Before I could finish, my thoughts were interjected from a plain but clean dressed bodyguard. “We can provide you with a horse, and good food.”

My stomach lurched a bit uncomfortably, and it had made my decision. “Okay, I’ll come along.”
