Just One Thing

Description

That moment when he's the one but your parents want to arrange-marry you with some other guy...

JUSTINE REY is in one of those unique situations where her family is so stinking-wealthy that they still believe in arranged marriages.  They are also one of those old-fashioned, near-extinct Filipino families who don’t believe in marriage.  Her two older siblings are already married, so naturally, her parents have been on her back since — well, more so than before.  Sierra, the middle child, encourages Justine to listen to their parents; Lorenzo, the eldest, is more on Justine’s side.  Still, her parents continue setting Justine up with potential bachelors during family dinners, and she keeps “bumping into” sons of her mom’s equally affluent friends at parties and being set up on dates with several successful men, and more.  Of course, they’re either STEM kids, the rare university professors, young lawyers, or clever businessmen — in her parents’ eyes, the only honorable occupations which men should have.  Justine is pushing 25, the ripe age for marriage to her parents, so the pressure is getting stronger.

But of course, she wants no part in it.  Thank God her parents live in Jeju while she lives in Seoul.

And Justine loves Seoul.  As a content producer at Arirang for After School Club, she gets to meet celebrities all the time.  (Even her roommate and best friend Jinwoo Kwon used to be a trainee before settling with a job at Arirang.)  Content producers don’t really do much post-production, so Justine gets to sit around and just watch as an ASC episode unfolds.

So when a popular boy band sits in for an ASC episode, the last thing Justine thinks would happen happens: she meets a boy, and falls for him.

Everything’s good and fun, until she remembers that she’s going to have to tell her ethnocentric parents about this boy very, very soon.
