CHAPTER 14:  Competition

Daesang High School students were busy preparing for the festivals, they started to make properties for the Class Theme battle. Because they wanted to make it as a surprise on the Open Class day, they tried to make it as private as possible, they closed the door and the curtain and also kept it secret from the other class. But of course, there were always spies everywhere. Just like what Ong Seungwoo did, the spy from class Social-2B was found sneaking into class Science-2B when they were making miniature of big 3 agencies’ building, SM, YG, and JYP following their Hallyu Wave theme.

“Yaaa, there’s a spy!!” Kenta was screaming out loud while pointing on Ong.

But Ong was acting like it wasn’t him who was pointed out by Kenta, he even turned his head to look for someone else.

But Sanggyun walked closer and hit his shoulder while laughing. “Ya! Do you think we don’t know that is you?”

Ong could only grin.

“Get out!” Sanggyun dragged him out of the class but Ong resisted while asking, “What’s your class theme? Let me know... What are you guys making, uh?”

No one answered his question even until he’s successfully been dragged out of the class.

But then, Seungwoon got inspired. He asked his classmates, “Should we send spy too to the other class?”

The other students were looking at each other and then yes. Yongguk was chosen to become the spy for class Science-2B because his calm personality that can help him to be invisible. He was sent to spy to Class Science-2C. And he smoothly did it, he even met Dongho and Dongho didn’t notice it.

“Woah, I think you fits Casper, Yongguk ah!” Dongho commented when he met Yongguk in his class.

“Casper?” Namjoo asked Yongguk as he spoiled the information he got after spying.

“It seems their theme is a haunted house.” Yongguk said shortly.

“Good. It’s good if there aren’t any class who has the same theme with us.” Seungwoon commented.

“Yeah, that what should we make sure. Yongguk ah, go to the other class.” Seungcheol ordered him and Yongguk was happily obeyed.

“But really, a Casper?? How can Yongguk to cosplay Casper, tell me! Should he make his body transparent??” Hanna was still thinking about Dongho’s comment on Yongguk.

Minki shook his head. “Kang Dongho seriously, even his comment is embarrassing me.”

With that, the other students were laughing.

While they were preparing for the Class Theme battle, the Sport Competition was also starting. The first one is Punch King Battle. It was the idea from Park Songwoo, class 3 student who had the machine in his house. He lent it to be used in the school festival because he wanted to know who have the strongest punch in the school. What a mere reason is that?

Everyone gathered in the sport hall, including few of class 3 students. The representatives from each classes were sitting on the floor in front of the machine when the MC stood up.

“Anyeonghaseyo Yeorobuuun!” Kim Doyeon, class 3 student, greeted the representatives and the audience. “Today, we’ll be watching a spectacular game! A game that need power and muscle. But I’m not alone. Let me call you my partner, Yoo Hoeseung from class Social-2A! Give him applause!”

“Anyeonghaseyo..” Hoeseung bowed to the audience and then greeted Doyeon. “Thank you Doyeon ssi for asking me to accompany you. But to make us closer, may I call you Doyeon noona?” He asked while smiling shyly and Doyeon couldn’t help but to laugh.

With that the audience were making noise. “Yaa yaaa, don’t flirt!”

Hoeseung then handled the situation with saying, “Okay, okay, I’m sorry..”

“Hoeseung ssi, we already have the representatives from each classes in front of us. Who do you think should play first, boy or girl?” Doyeon asked.

“Mmm, I think it’s better to have girl first. It’s like a warming up.”

Hoeseung’s anwer made Namjoo boiled. “Yaaa! We’re not a warming up! We could play as good as the boys! We’re strong too!”

Kim Namjoo, the representative from class Science-2B has just protested to the MC, when actually few days before, she was asking to Hanna, “Why should a girl playing Punch King? Don’t they have brain? We could hurt our pretty hands.”

Hanna could only roll her eyes from the audience seat remembering what she said.

“I’m sorry.. Aaah, it seems I’m making many mistakes as the MC.” Hoeseung laughed.

Doyeon was also laughing but then she said, “It’s okay Hoeseung ssi. Ah, we haven’t introduced our special seat for the success contender.”

“Ah, that’s right! As you can see in your front left, there is a seat of throne that was made special by our sunbae from class 3 to the winner for this competition.” Hoeseung explained.

But it got cut by Doyeon. “Not only for this competition, Hoeseung ssi.. It can also be used for other competition. So the winner can sit on that seat and take a photo with the medal.”

“Aaah, okay.. That’s what I mean.” Hoeseung laughed over the many times he made mistakes, and the audience were woo-ing him.

Doyeon then took control. “Let’s not wasting time, Hoeseung ssi. I’ve got list of the representatives here. So why don’t we call the first player?”

“Okay! Who’s the first one?”

“It’s Kim Namjoo from Science 2-B!”

Namjoo got up confidently. She did a short warming up and then run to punch machine. She got 771.

Everyone was screaming. It was indeed a high score for a girl. She was directly sitting on the seat of throne waiting for the other contender to beat her scores. But even until the end of the competition, there was no one beat it. With that, Namjoo win the Punch King Battle for girl. The class Science-2B students were cheering happily as Namjoo got her medal.

“Okay, that’s the girl battle. Even it was girl competition, it was already tough, so we can imagine how tough must be for the boy battle, right, Hoeseung-ssi?” Doyeon started MC-ing again.

“Yes, of course. There are many muscle man in this school. So, why don’t we call the first player from boy battle?”

“The sequence of the players will be the same as girl battle. So for the first player, we’ll have from class Science-2B. Please come out..” Doyeon called.

Then a skinny figure came out.

“What??” “Minki??” “Choi Minki??” The audiences were in disbelief.

So there was a story behind Minki chosen as Punch King representative.

There was no one who wanted to be the representative for Punch King Battle and Arm Wrestling because it will make your arm hurt. So, class Science-2B chose the representative by a lottery and Minki was unfortunately chosen. “Why luck wasn’t on me??” He directly whined.

One of the audience even screamed. “Show us your muscle, muscle man!” –referring to what Hoeseung just said.

Minki laughed to hear that scream, but then he proceed to fold his shirt to show his (skinny) arm and walked with his shoulder up like a gangster. His action made the audience laughing.

He confidently punched the machine but then the machine only showed 788. It was even near Namjoo’s score. Everyone was laughing by that.

“The next one is the representative from Social 1-A – Seo Seunghyuk!” Hoeseung called.

Seunghyuk shyly got up and played. Surprisingly he got 926. With that, Seunghyuk went up to sit on the seat of throne.

The next contender was from Social 2B – Ong, the spy who got caught by Sanggyun few days before. He was known as the school jokester, so even in this competition he acted all funny. He came out cockily, and even threw a smirk towards Seunghyuk saying that he’s just a minor. Before playing, he said, “Men are all about confidence” while showing his skinny bone-arm, which is similar to Minki’s. Why are those skinny boys too confident? lol

He even going further from the machine to have more powerful start. But once he punched, he only got 896.

Everyone was laughing by that. Ong scratched his nape while saying, “In the future I will try to be more humble.” It made the laughter louder.

The representatives from each classes were trying to beat Seunghyuk’s record but no one succeed.

The next contender was Youngmin’s cousin, Kim Donghyun from Social 1-B. He may look soft, but once he punched he got 947.

Everyone was screaming. It was indeed a high point. He directly went to the seat of throne replacing Seunghyuk.

But the next and also the last contender was the strongest contender among all the representatives. He is Kang Dongho, from Science-2C.

He came out calmly and punched the machine hard. Turned out he got the same point with Donghyun, 947.

The situation was tense. No one could guess there will be contender who get the same scores. So, Hoeseung asked Dongho to sit on the seat of throne with Donghyun. There he teased both of him. “Don’t they like a father and his son?”

Everyone was laughing.

Knowing that Hoeseung found pleasure to tease both of the contenders, Doyeon took control. “Why don’t we ask them to re-play?”

Audience were screaming in agree.

Then Donghyun did punch again, and it turned 949.

It was hard. Everyone thought it was hard for Dongho to win.

But Dongho didn’t want to lose, he punched and it turned 950!

Everyone was saying “WOOOAAAAHHHH” harmoniously.

Dongho was smiling proudly. Donghyun then shook Dongho’s hand to congratulate him for the winning.

With that, Hoeseung and Doyeon announced, “The winner for Punch King boy Battle is Kang Dongho, from Science-2C!. Give him applause!”

Everyone was clapping, but the loudest clap was from Science-2C students. Daniel even ran and hugged him.
