During Taeyeon’s practice battle against Tiffany, Sunny, Yoona and Seohyun, Elder Cosmic could feel the immense power originating from their direction. It was a curious feeling since this was the first time she had sensed this powers for centuries. It made her wonder about what Mage 01 had said only a few days ago about her supposed heir, Irene. Elder began to wonder whether Mage 01 had told the truth about her since she seemed to barely have any gift in the magical arts. Regardless if she lacked the experience or not, magical energy would be emanating from her if she was indeed part of the Kim family line. Elder Cosmic noticed that Mage 01 was nowhere to be found so it was her best opportunity to interrogate Irene without Mage 01 causing an interruption. She found the girl with the rest of them as they were all practicing magic mindlessly, preparing for the ritual that was to come. “Irene, come with me at once.” Elder Cosmic demanded and since she was brainwashed by Mage 01 she did not budge an inch.

“Irene, I told you to come with me at once! What do you not understand?” Elder Cosmic questioned. Irene simply continued to mindlessly practice her skills even though Elder Cosmic had already begun to raise her voice to the girl. “Hmm, she must be brainwashed heavily with Mage 01 that she cannot come at my command, well, let’s fix that.” Mage 01 was unaware of this, but one of Elder Cosmic’s skills was to draw a rune that would create a dark dome around her. This magical dome deflected any kind of magic, whether it was simply telepathy or actual magic, it could not be damaged by magic and on the inside, it would negate magic similarly to how Mage 01 and Sunny could do so. In other words, anyone within this dome would transform from a mage/ telepath to just a regular human. Elder Cosmic had never mentioned this power to Mage 01, seeing as it was one of her only methods of defeating him if he ever tried to betray her. She wanted him to believe that she had made him into an unstoppable force so that he would fight against other mages relentlessly. Although this form of magic seemed very powerful, it had one major drawback, even she would become human within the dome and at her age, she would be helpless against someone who could fight even without magic. The dome was much more of a short-term protection spell rather than an offensive strategy.

She trapped herself and Irene within the dark dome and in an instant, she had snapped out of Mage 01’s hold. “What the ? Where am I? who are you? What am I doing here???” Irene snapped.

“It’s alright dear, no need to be afraid. This is merely a dream.” Elder Cosmic lied.

“A dream? I don’t remember the last time I even slept.” Irene retorted.

“Don’t concern yourself with that child. All you need to do is answer a few of my questions, that’s all you need to do.” Elder Cosmic stated calmly.

“Alright… what do you want to know?” she questioned.

“What’s your name?” Elder Cosmic questioned.

“Irene. Bae Irene…” she answered slowly.

“Bae? Are you not a Kim?” Elder Cosmic asked.

“A Kim? No, I could have been, if Tiffany didn’t get in my way.” Irene clenched her fist when she remembered how her one true love had been taken away from her grasp because of Tiffany.

“You know of a Kim? Do they reside in this city??” Elder Cosmic asked.

“Not that I know of, she left before senior year even ended. People said it was financial problems mostly. She never returned as far as I know.” Irene answered confidently.

“This Kim that you knew, was she… extraordinary?” Elder Cosmic questioned.

“Hell to the yes she was. The girl could do absolutely anything, she destroyed everyone on the basketball court, she would skip classes sometimes and still get perfect grades and on top of that, she was so mysterious. People barely knew anything about her, like one day she came, took the school by storm and then in just a few months she left. That girl was more than extraordinary, she was a complete badass.” Irene explained.

“I see, well, thank you for the information.” Elder Cosmic reached for the ground and scratched away her rune which disintegrated the surrounding dark dome. Once the dome had dispersed, Irene had returned to her mindless behaviour and started to train with the others once more.

Elder Cosmic had been watching the sudden appearances of mages in New York two years ago and it was curious that two years ago was the same timeline that Irene would have been in senior year. To have Vermilion surface at the same time and place that an extraordinary student enrolled into Irene's school was way too much of a coincidence and Elder Cosmic knew this. “She’s the one… that power that surged through the entire city, she’s my heir. Without a doubt, which means, Mage 01 deceived me!!” Elder Cosmic screamed. 

“Your deception won’t carry on without consequences Mage 01, you mark my words.” Elder Cosmic stated as she clenched her fists angrily.
