The Space Between Us

Description

Bae Irene and Park Bogum were a weird combination. Both were introvert, loner, awkward, and short tempered. Probably that was why they felt special to each other, like the feeling that they knew what the other was feeling without words. But that was exactly the problem about them. They thought they knew.

But when they finally figured each other out, it was too late. Really really late.

Foreword

Irene adjusted her glasses as she focused her eyes to the computer screen in front of her. She furrowed her eyebrows more as if trying to make it obvious to anyone to not bother her, if they didn't want to get trouble of course.

There’s always one person who didn’t care though.

She was about to shout her heart out at whoever it was who turned her computer screen pitch black.

“Let’s grab lunch together later.” That person said.

She blinked for a good five seconds as she stared at him. Park Bogum.

“Oh, yes, sure.” She answered indifferently as she turned the screen on and resumed her work. Weirdly, the anger has gone.

Bogum chuckled as she adjusted her glasses again. She probably hadn’t realized that habit. He messed up her hair playfully knowing he would receive a death glare from her.

“I’ll come back later to drag you to lunch~” He said while leaving, giving her his back.

Her eyes stuck at his back until he eventually gone behind the closed door. She took off her glasses and sighed. Suddenly felt amazed at how they talked to each other so casually now, even going to lunch together as if it’s not a big deal. Well, literally it’s not. There’s really no meaning behind it. They were really just going to get their tummies full, having a little conversation in between like friends and colleagues that they were then got back to work.

It would be great if they were at least this close back then. So, there wouldn’t be series of misunderstanding between them. And maybe, they could be more than friends. But that was years ago. There’s no turning back now.

Irene sighed for the second time today as she put on her glasses again, ready to finish her work before lunch whilst trying to forget her pitiful love story. It’s beyond sad, her love life. It’s pathetic.
