Foreword

Day 1 of 730.

I sat on my bed in my new bedroom and placed the video camera on the night side table. I'm still unsure if I should really do this but, hey. He spent his money to buy me this video recording thing so I should at least recognize his effort and use it. Besides, I should consider this as another blessing. Whatever. I took a deep breath before clicking the record button.

"Hey!" I said with a fake broad smile. I was about to say things that I actually don't mean in front of this camera when I realized that faking to be happy and excited right now is kind of useless since I'm recording all of this for myself and nobody else's gonna watch it.

I fixed myself maintaining my usual poker face and looked at my blurred reflection on the camera lenses.

I checked the time on my old school phone before finally being able to pronounce a sentence.

"Time check: 11:32 PM. Hello. My name is Hye Rim. Go Hye Rim. 18 years old and the oldest of three siblings. My mother died four years after giving birth to a pair of twins, my two younger brothers. I was just 6 years old that time." I smiled bitterly in the memories of my lovely mother. "My father was that hurt that he made himself an alcoholic and that's when my mom's best friend decided to get us and take care of us without my dad knowing. Well, it's not like he actually cared, he didn't even look for us three." I stopped talking. Should I really do this? I'm just wasting my time. Don't I actually look pathetic talking to this of recording object? Whatever. My whole life is pathetic anyways.

"At least that's what I've been told since even though I remember things, the memories are still not clear. And I think it is better that way. I don't think I'd love to recall every second of those days. It'd be a nightmare." And I really meant what I said. I had the worst childhood a little girl could ever have. My past made me who I am today and that's why I regret every single moment of my past. "Moving forward, not so long ago, I think it was two years ago, we left mom's friend's house. I was really close with that friend of my mother and I'm really thankful to her for taking care of us for ten years but I didn't have the best relationship with her daughter. You can't imagine how these past two years were difficult for the three of us. I stopped my studies to be a full-time worker and be able to pay for my brothers' tuition fees." I stopped for a while and the edges of my lips slightly curved on the thought of us overcoming that difficult period. "And for God is good all the time, not only He gave us strength to overcome all of these hardships, He also showered us with His blessings. Last month I found a job in Seoul. I'm now working just as a part time cleaner there but since it's a rich family, the salary is quite high and they also offered me to live there. It's actually not a big problem for them: the house is huge. I got interviewed by the house owners two weeks ago and got accepted-" I got interrupted by a text but I didn't bother to check my phone. It must be spam. "As I was saying, in the family there are three siblings: a little boy, a girl who has the same age as me and a good looking man who is just a few years older than me. They are actually really nice especially oppa. The girl, Oh Yoo Na, studies in my and my brothers' dream school: School of Performing Arts, Yeolshimin High School. The three of us love singing and dancing or entertainment in general but there's no way we can afford that school. About oppa." I felt that the edges of my lips curved upwards once again, this time it's not a bitter smile. "To be honest he's like someone who I can only find in my dreams. He looks good, he's tall, has a fair skin, red lips. He looks really good. He looks like someone who got out of a comic book." My eye caught my reflection in the mirror next to me. My face is giving a delighted look. This past month has been pretty good. This must be the beginning of something new.

"Oh and I also met this guy. His father has been a cook in that family for a really long time and he also works part time here to gain some money and to help his father. But he doesn't live here. He lives with his mother and rarely sleeps here. Strangely these past days, he has been sleeping in the room next to mine with his father-" I got interrupted for the second time by a message, no, they are actually two. Annoyed by the notifications, I was about to mute my phone when I saw who those messages came from. Oh Chi Won and Kim Jae Eun.

'Hey, have you got some free time?'

Same message from two men. Who should I reply to first?
