The Best Birthday Present

 

 

 

 

 

“It was said that Yonghwa-sshi has her documents regarding her transaction with your daughter.”

 

Taeyeon repeated the words that her assistant had told her. 2 hours had passed and yet, she’s still unconvinced to the information she learned. If it’s easy to understand but convincing her mind to accept the truth is hard. Like someone is dead and she refuses to accept the truth.

 

“Your daughter signed the papers before the day of her confession earlier.”

 

It’s her daughter. The fact that it’s her daughter who signed it, the more she refuses to accept what is been done. She, who trusted her the most, failed her expectations. Hard to accept, because for how many years that she build and take care her company; it will just vanished with the use of signature.

 

The thought of all these made Taeyeon massages her temples.

 

“Tae-tae? Seohyun is here.” called Tiffany, peeking her head out the door in her office.

 

With a little nod, Tiffany let her daughter in and left the two to talk.

 

Seohyun suited herself in a chair and started to fiddle her fingers. “Umma… Uh, I have something to confess.” Two confessions in one day, that will never be hard.

 

Taeyeon let out a sighed and listens to her daughter before she speaks.

 

“Umma… the… the company. I know you build it with your own sweats and hard works.” Seohyun paused for a moment to gather her thoughts and when she had finally in her mind to continue she resumes her words.

 

“It’s hard to think that I never give you my help, but I am trying to be productive with the company. I get it when you mentioned to me a month ago… that I will inherit the company you build, at first it’s hard to accept but I got a say that… It’s… beginning to be part of my life.”

 

“SeoHyun. Just get to the point. You are getting me impatient.” Taeyeon suddenly spoke in a cold tone.

 

“Yes?” caught off guard, Seohyun trembles with her umma’s words and the way she delivers it.

 

Taeyeon sighed. “I know. I know now… the reason why are you here. It’s hard to accept but I know you have your reason. So… can I… know this?”

 

“Umma… “ Seohyun lowered her head in shame. “It’s… it’s because… Yonghwa-sshi… he… threatened us. To kill both of us… but I promise to bring the company back.” she determinedly said. Hoping that her umma will be soften.

 

Taeyeon stood with a thud on her hand in the table. “That Yonghwa again?” she surprisingly yelled in front of her daughter.

 

Seohyun nodded, afraid to look up to her umma. “Yes umma.”

 

“He’s getting on my nerves.” Taeyeon gritted her teeth.

 

“Umma… yah! please don’t do anything again. I know you and Yoong has same attitude… and I don’t want to take care 2 stubborn kids.” Seohyun said in a speed.

 

For some reason, Taeyeon find the words of her daughter amusing as she let out a small chuckle. The atmosphere changes to bright when her daughter had let out such an amusing words, well for her.

 

“You do really know how to crack me.” Taeyeon said, sitting back on her leather chair. “Alright, I’ll do something about this, but in legal way… and you know what’s on my mind?”

 

The Kwon’s properties will get affected as well. Since their shares in the company were the Highest one.

 

Taeyeon’s mind remembers her assistant’s words that made her smirked and eye her daughter like telling her not to oppose.

 

“Er, umma? do you have-“

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Get marry with Yoong in a month.”

 

“Yes?”

The next day…

“Yonghwa is a liar?”

 

“It was revealed on the conference. He admits it.”

 

“I doubt if it’s true.”

 

“Wae? Didn’t you see how Miss Kim cried in front of the press? She loves Miss Kwon so much... and she was never belonged to Yonghwa, like what she said.”

 

“I saw that… and I believe on that… but Yonghwa-sshi should reveal his self not on the video tape.”

 

“Maybe he was scared.”

All costumers in Kim restaurant turned their heads, hearing the news in the television.

Hyo stops on her tracks, focusing on the TV screen.

 

Mr. Jung, is video tape real? Did you really lie? And… what’s happening to Kim Corp.?

 

Please, we are in a hurry.

 

Mr. Jung, just a statement.

“What’s on the video tape were true. But I am not a liar and regarding about the Kim Corp.? uh, Let Mrs. Kim answers that.”

Hyo shook her head after seeing the chaos on the TV screen.

 

“I told you. That Jung is not a liar.”

 

“Whatever, he did admit that the video is true.”

 

Sooyoung shook her head, following Hyo—hearing what people says.

 

“I thought the problem is over. Aish! I hate those reporters; they keep on following that Yonghwa.” Hyo ruffled her hair, catching Sunny’s attention on her table. She stood up and approaches the latter.

 

“Don’t worry. It’ll just pass like nothing had happened.” Sunny assured a smile. Even herself, she can’t help to worry about the incident yesterday. True that her dongseng’s words were believable but still, there are other people who seem to be judging on the way her dongseng confessed to the public. If it wasn’t for that Yonghwa guy, the rumors shouldn’t be spreading like wild fire. People were now curious to what’s really the real thing between the three.

 

“What’s going on to Kim Corp.? I thought is in a good state now?” Hyo said, sighing at the end of her sentence. Pulling a chair, she sits and pouted.

 

“By the way… who’s birthday is today?” suddenly Sooyoung appeared behind Sunny.

 

Puzzled, Sunny and Hyo asked in unison. “Who?”

 

“It’s… Yoona’s.” Hyo and Sunny literally widened their eyes when they failed to remember their dongseng’s birthday.

 

“Oh my. Seriously. I nearly forgot it.” Hyo whined. “Thanks Soo. No wonder I was being so dramatic over the news… “

 

Sunny and Sooyoung laughs with Hyo’s antics, they patted their friend for a comfort. “Yoona would be so grateful if we were going to visit her. She’s out in the hospital now, right? With all the negative happenings around, we should throw a party for our dongseng.” Sunny asked in excitement.

 

“Yeah… that would be really great.” Sooyoung said in glee.

 

“So? Surprise… birthday party?” Hyo exclaimed.

 

“OMG! FOOD!!!” Sooyoung jumps up and down to the thought of foods.

 

“As if you don’t eat everyday with you as my chef.” Hyo chuckled, giving Sooyoung a high five. Sunny later then joined the two.

“Uhmmm… Excuse me?”

 

Sooyoung, Sunny and Hyo literally turned their heads to the source of the voice. A young woman wearing a gray serge cardigan along with stripe tee shirts inside with cardigan shorts is in front of them. Her hair is loosely curled while wearing a nice smirk.

 

Both Sooyoung and Sunny gulped in to the guest they unexpectedly to visit the restaurant.

 

“M-Miss… what can we do for you?” Hyo asked.

 

“Uh, I thought it’s the right place to ask? About… Yoona?”

 

“Yes?” the trio exclaimed on the mention of their dongseng.

Kim’s Residence

 

“Tae-tae… hurry!!!” Tiffany called out loud. Ready for their youngest recital, Tiffany can’t put any words on how excited she is to see her child do a duet with Krystal. It’s been a while since their last rehearsal and she’s quite anxious about how will her child performed what she rehearsed.

 

“Mom! Umma… Hurry!!!! Its 9am already!!!” Sulli who can’t wait anymore jumps up and down on her seat in the car. She peek her head out to call her parents.

 

“I’m on in. wait a minute.” Taeyeon shouted upstairs, gathering her things to record her child’s performance.

 

With one last pulled on the door to lock it, she climbs down the stairs and hurriedly locks the main door of the house. She saw Sulli and her wife already in the car and without anymore thinking; she steps in and drove off.

 

*ring ring ring~

 

“Honey! Are you there already?” asked Tiffany the moment she answered the phone.

 

“Mom, I’ll try… Yoona is still on her deep slumber. I can’t leave her alone.”

 

“Unnie… it’s okay!!!” Sulli suddenly yelled, hearing the voice of her sister. “Just take care of Yoona unnie. It’s her birthday today right?”

 

There was a silent for a moment in Seohyun’s line after which Taeyeon shouted as well.

 

“Honey, Do give my present for her.”

 

Tiffany and Sulli both giggles with how Taeyeon is so eager to hand her gift to her daughter-in-law. They eye each other and tease Taeyeon.

 

“What? I just wanted to give her my present. That’s all.” Taeyeon denied.

 

“Umma… don’t worry. I’ll hand it to her.”came a very sweet voice from Seohyun on the other line.

 

“Thanks Honey!” Taeyeon smiled with a beam. She sure her present would be the best present for her daughter-in-law.

 

There was again a silence on Seohyun’s line, making the Kims puzzled. “Umma… unnie must be busy.” Sulli commented.

 

“Yeah… I bet so.”

 

“Sorry Umma, mom… Sulli. I was… never mind, I’ll call back, okay? Love you guys!”

 

*tot-tot-tot.

 

Taeyeon sighed. Like an instinct of a mother, she knows something is bothering her daughter. “Seohyun is really unpredictable sometimes.” She remarked.

 

“Don’t bother it. If it’s regarding her relationship with Yoona, for sure they’re going to fix it without our knowledge.” Tiffany assured, she patted her wife’s wife and give her an assuring smile.

 

“Umma… Please hurry!!!”

 

Taeyeon and Tiffany chuckled with their child’s excitement. Complying, Taeyeon speed off.

2 hours earlier.

 

Snores~ and more snores was heard in a 2 king size bed. The sun had already shown, blinding the first girl who woke up. She checks on her right side and smiled instantly seeing how peaceful is her lover sleeping. Unconsciously, she leans closer to brush the hair strands that were covering to her lover’s face.

 

What a beautiful angel. She thought as she giggles with the thought of marrying her fiancé in a month.

 

“hmmmm… “ her lover mumbles, earning a giggle from her.

 

She stared back and poke on her lover’s nose. “Happy Birthday!” she whispered before pecking on her lover’s cheeks.

 

Deciding to get up, she cautiously leaves her lover in the bed to have her shower. After 30 mins. Or so of showering, she changes her clothes into more comfortable clothes. She tied her head up and made a fist pump as she said. “Seohyun-ah! Fighting!”

 

-

 

She went to the laundry room and find how a lot of clothes were being left by their laundry girl. Their laundry girl was on day off as what she requested.

Instead of doing it in a washing machine, she decided to do it by her hands. She gradually carried all the clothes outside her penthouse to her garden. After carrying all of them, she started on washing by turning on her ipod and listens to her favorite song called “Kissing You”.

 

She started with the jeans, washing it by her bare hands.

30 black jeans and 20 blue jeans. She frowned with how many her lover had a lot of black jeans more than her. “Not bad.” She remarked.

 

Resuming what she’s doing, she washes it all with smiles on her face. She would always play with the bobbles on her hand and giggles when the bobbles pop out in the grass. These excite her more and finish all the jeans within 30 minutes and wash the rest with another 30 minutes.

Placing the last piece of clothe in a hanger and hang it, Seohyun beamed to her works. She took a deep breath and checks her time, 7:30am.

 

“Oh no. I should cook now.” Seohyun quickly returns to the house and cooks a lot for her lover. She cooked 5 dishes for just a breakfast and finishes it all in an hour and half.

 

8:30am. She checks again after cooking the breakfast. “Cleaning the house.” She muttered.

 

She started in the dirty kitchen, dining room, living room and lastly to their room.

While cleaning the drawer, Seohyun’s eyes landed on a certain envelope in the corner. Curious as she is, she reach for it but when she was about to open it, her phone rang. She quickly answered the phone with a dash.

 

“Honey! Are you already there?”came her mom’s hyper voice, made her smile of the voice.

 

She glance to Yoona’s sleeping figure before answering her mom’s question. “Mom, I’ll try… Yoona is still on her deep slumber. I can’t leave her alone.”

 

“Unnie… It’s okay!!! Just take care of Yoona unnie. It’s her birthday today right?”

 

Seohyun didn’t hear her sister’s voice when her attention was interrupted by the falling folded paper. She bends over and picks it up.

 

“Honey, Do give my present for her.”

 

“Umma… don’t worry. I’ll hand it to her.” Seohyun unconsciously replied, unfolding the covered thick paper.

 

She cautiously read everything inside the folded paper. After reading the details, she glance to a certain doe-eyes on the bed and was met by her yawns. She bit her lower lips as her mind is full of questions.

 

“Yeah… I bet so.”

 

When she heard her umma on the phone, she mentally slapped herself from realizing that she was in a conversation with her family.

 

“Sorry Umma, mom… Sulli. I was… never mind, I’ll call back, okay? Love you guys!” she said in a hurry and ended the call right away.

 

“Hyunnie?” called Yoona on the bed, slowly positioned herself to sit and rested her back in the wall.

 

Bracing herself, Seohyun walks calmly towards the bed and sits beside her fiancé. Yoona smiled to her angel and was about to reach for her hand when Seohyun hand something on her. She furrowed her eyebrows to the thing.

 

"Yoong? what's this?" Seohyun asked softly but determined to hear an explanation.

 

Yoona took the plane ticket she recognizes and scratches her neck. "Uh, It's Uhmmm... "

 

"Are you planning... to leave the country?" questioned Seohyun, staring in disbelief.

 

Frowning, Yoona took a moment to answer Seohyun’s question. She gulps in and was blinking continuously.

 

“I… Uh… this… “She tried to explain but nothing comes on her mind.

 

“Yoong… this is a plane ticket for New York… the date is today… time of flight? At exactly 10pm tonight… and what’s the worst? Today… is… your birthday.” Seohyun said what she reads on the plane ticket. “Yoong… I can’t either explain… what I am feeling right now. Is this some kind of… joke? Uhmmm… do you… by chance planning to fly to New York in your birthday? Without me knowing?” Seohyun softly asked. She knows she can’t surprise her fiancé with her condition in health by yelling or something.

 

“Baby… the… no… this plane ticket… is a… uh, I don’t know how to explain this.” Yoona groaned, she covered herself using her palms—scared to see her fiancé’s questioning eyes. Explaining such a matter is hard as she never expected, to the fact that behind the plane ticket is her umma’s demand for her.

 

Pulling over her lover’s two hands to hers, Seohyun make her fiancé look at her. “Alright, if I am in your position, I’ll be really like this. But Yoong… I need an explanation. I wanna hear it, so that I could tell that what’s on my mind is wrong.” Seohyun said, quite impatient already.

 

“Baby… I was… “ Yoona pauses for a moment and gather her thoughts to reveal what’s behind the plane ticket. “This plane ticket is… just nothing. I mean, it’s-it’s… for a business trip for some investors in New York. That-that’s… all. Remember the meeting 2 days ago? It’s… a… for this. The two companies’ have-” She lied instead. It’s better to hid the truth. She thought.

 

“Alright, I know now. You don’t need to explain it further.” Seohyun smiled, caressing her fiancé’s left cheek. The thought of her fiancé leaving her has vanished when the latter had explained the plane ticket. It would be bad if she still insist the question with Yoona’s condition. Although it still bothering her, she shrug it off and believes her fiancé’s words.

 

Yoona sighed in relief. She’s save, well in her fiancé’s question but to her umma—she doubts it.

 

“Uh, by the way Yoong… “ Seohyun quickly jumps off from the bed and pick up a box nearby. It’s her umma’s birthday present for her.

 

“What’s this?” Yoona asked in curiosity.

 

“It’s from umma. She wanted to greet you.” Seohyun answered in glee. “Open it.” she clasp her two hands in anticipation of the thing inside the box.

 

Yoona giggles quitely; her fiancé is much excited than her. She cautiously opens it and find that the thing inside the box is a video cam.

 

“Eh?” she picks up the video cam and observes the thing by turning it around.

 

“Oh Yoong. I think there’s a tape inside.” Seohyun said, pointing to the corner inside.

 

Without any thinking, Yoona opened the video cam and pulled out the tape. Seohyun took it and inserted the tape on their LG plasma tv. She went back to her fiancé’s side and cling on her arm.

June 28^th 1991, an angel came to our life to complete my dream. A text appeared in the video.

 

“Hey Honey look at this. Can you recognize it?” Taeyeon is in the couch with little Seohyun on her arms. Little Seohyun just grab the thing and shove it to her mouth quickly. Taeyeon quickly took it and scolded her daughter.

 

“Yah! tae… let her!” tiffany’s voice can be heard at the back of the camera, giggling.

 

 

Next scene…

 

“Oh my gosh. Taeyeon, look at Seohyun… she’s… she’s… walking!!!” Tiffany yelled, catching Taeyeon’s attention in the kitchen. She appeared with an apron and beams when her daughter took her 3rd step towards her mother.

 

1 year old Seohyun, Our little angels’ first step. We were spazzing like crazy over her first step.

 

The video faded into black revealing a super hyper little Seohyun playing with the video cam. She is clapping her hands when the thing will shake. Taeyeon’s voice and tiffany’s voice behind the camera was heard, playing with their eldest.

 

She’s now so hyper, like fany! :D

 

Next…

 

5 year old Seohyun with her friend Yoona, playing outside our house.

 

“Seohyun-ah! Listen, you have to dribble it first before shooting it to the ring.” 6 year old Yoona is showing little Seohyun on how to dribbles and shoot.

 

“Yah! I can’t!!! it’s hard Yoong!” Seohyun whined.

 

“No. it’s easy… like this.” Yoona dribbles and shoot the ball to the ring successfully.

 

“You know the game, of course you’ll shoot It.” little Seohyun pouted.

 

Yoona giggles and patted her friend. “it’s okay… you’ll eventually learn. Trust me.”

 

I don’t know, but I was feeling uneasy that time, when you are around my daughter.

 

Another video flash and it reveals 15 year old Seohyun.

 

“Umma… I’m in. I passed!!!”

 

“Omo! Really? that’s really good.” Taeyeon hugs her daughter, turning her around and around. “Yah! fany, join her.”

 

She’s our genius; we never expected she’ll surpass our expectations.

 

The video faded into black and texts were seen along with pictures of little Seohyun to her college years.

 

At the end of the video, a message slides.

 

With you as my princess’ knight and shining armor,

 

I know I can put a trust in you

 

Please take care of my daughter or you know what you will get

 

Anyway,

 

 

 

 

You, Kwon Yoona.

Already in tears, Yoona tried to comprehend what she just read on the video. She looks over to her fiancé and find her also in tears.

 

“Baby… “

 

Seohyun wipes Yoona’s tears off and pulled her closer to hug her on her arms.

 

“Your umma… “ Yoona sobs, hugging tightly to her fiancé’s arms. She can’t believe it. After how many challenges, she successfully gains back her aunt tae’s trust

 

“I know.” Seohyun whispered, wiping her tears off as well.

“Achoo~” Taeyeon sneezes. She doesn’t know what caught her but she thinks someone is talking about her. She pulled out a tissue and sneezes.

 

Noticing her wife’s continuous sneezing; Tiffany checks on her wife and find her smiling. “Yah! tae, are you okay?” puzzled Tiffany.

 

“Nothing, it’s just that… I get a cold all of a sudden.” Taeyeon giggles. “Where’s Sulli?”

 

“She’s at the back stage now. Let’s get inside?” tiffany offered her arm and her wife happily clings into her as they entered the theater.

A/N: in order to get back the company easily, Taeyeon thought of merging her company with the Kwons.. and she thought of by doing this, yoonhyun should get marry first before the merging. And another thing, another character had appeared to spice the relationship of Yoonhyun. keke
