Another mundane day. Another mundane street. Another mundane, probably failed job interview.

You had really given up hope at this point. Even with your exceptionally high IQ and your way with words, you had yet to find a job anywhere, leaving you to live off of the family who had so generously taken you in; The Lees loved and cared for you as if you were really their own child, and you couldn't repay them enough for that. Quite literally as well, seeing as you were practically broke.

Small matter.

You continued to walk down the street, stopping at the coffee shop where your childhood friend Hoseok worked. He greeted you with a smile as you walked in. "How'd the interview go?"

You shook your head. "They didn't seem that impressed. It was a good job too, it would have had a great pay rate."

Hoseok smiled apologetically, pulling a coffee specially made for you out from behind the counter. "This one's free."

You smiled, gripping it warmly. "Hoseok, don't spoil me. Plus, you've never made me pay for a single coffee here."

He nodded thoughtfully. "You're only 18, though, and barely that. You literally just graduated! The Lees don't need you to repay them for being their daughter, you're blessing enough to them. Plus, at your age, it's not like you're one of those hipster hobos in their parents' basement, right? Don't be so hard on yourself, okay?"

You nodded, laughing. "I'll see you tomorrow, okay? I need to get home."

He waved, smiling as you walked out. "Byeee!~"

As you exited the small shop, a man with sunset orange hair bumped into you. In the few seconds you caught a glimpse of his features, you could already tell he was immensely handsome. Handsome, but also familiar...

"Oh, sorry!" He promptly said, giving you a slight smile as he passed by.

You smiled slightly and nodded, quickly walking away. Why does it seem like I've seen him before? Oh well, probably just an instinct. You shook your head, still smiling, and walked off.

Back to the mundane streets, with the mundane people, in your mundane life.

"Did she recognise you at all, Jimin?"

"I don't think so. But she was pretty cute, don't you think?"

"Yah, that's my friend your talking about! You show up 18 years later while I stuck with her her entire life!"

"Hoseok, you know I had things to do back there. Don't hold me responsible for things I can't control."

"Sorry."

"Do you think she's really the heiress?"

"She's never shown any signs of being able to do magic. But I sense it Jimin, you have to believe me!"

"Couldn't it be you're just getting a bit attached to her? You know there's rules to stop us from hanging around humans and having emotions for them."

"No! That's not it. Really, it's not. I can tell, it's her, Jimin. Couldn't you sense it?"

"... I guess so."

"She just turned 18. If they attack her while she's not prepared..."

"We won't let that happen, okay Hoseok? Your girlfriend will be safe."

"Yah! Jimin!"
