How do you heal a broken soul?

On a quiet sunday evening, she asked me, “How do you heal a broken soul?”

I looked at her and thought of all the possible answers to the question but nothing specific came in mind. She looked at me with her brown curious eyes but she remained silent, waiting for me to answer. I sat there contemplating the right words to tell her. I didn’t quite understand why she was asking me this, she was always smiling, always joyful but then, even the happiest person in the world could be broken too.

“How do you heal a broken soul?” I asked back and she didn’t say anything but I could tell that there were a lot of emotions swimming in her eyes. She shrugged before cleaning the table we just ate on, collecting plates and placing them on the sink but before she can, one plate slips from her grip and it crashes on the floor and I think I had the answer.
