Jimin breathes, lets the frigid air fill his lungs to the brim. The cold bench burns through his thin jeans, but he doesn’t care. Slowly, the irritation eases like dust, dispersing in the breeze. One or two snowflakes get caught in his eyelashes instead, giving his vision something to rest upon.

A little girl walks past him. Her rosy nose is buried in her phone. Jimin smiles a little.

“There you are, you little .”

Jimin stiffens. To his left sits his stepbrother. Suddenly, the cold surrounding him is unbearable rather than refreshing.  

“You’ll get sick without a jacket,” Yoongi mutters, looking straight ahead at the old autumn leaves rustling on the pavement.

“You don’t care,” Jimin mutters back. He pouts childishly. Yoongi has that effect on him. Makes him feel like a child.

“Why’d you run off?”

“I don’t want to live with you.”

When the older doesn’t say anything back, Jimin adds: “Because I hate you.”

“Just do it for mum.”

He stands up, stuffs his hands in his pockets.

“Brat.”

And with that, Yoongi leaves. A shiver spreads across Jimin’s icy skin.

This winter break will be pure agony, he knows it.
