I Sleep In The Bed Kim Sunggyu Slept In!!!
Sunggyu stirred. He felt his head throbbing in pain. He reached over to touch a sore spot at the top of his head and opened his eyes to a white ceiling. Looking around, he saw familiar blue walls and the wide glass window.
How in the world did I get here?
After several weeks of going through intense practice for their upcoming comeback, INFINITE’s manager finally allowed them to take the weekend off to relax before they get bombarded with the overwhelming schedule. The boys all had different plans for the weekend, so they ended up spending the break separately. In Sunggyu’s case, he decided to pay his family a surprise visit.
Wearing a black jacket over dark-wash jeans, he put on a big cap that covered most of his face to prevent people from recognizing him. Since it was rare for him to get time off like this nowadays, he wanted to be as inconspicuous as possible. Indeed, save for the second looks he got from a few girls, nobody seemed to pay attention to him.
However, after finally arriving at his family’s house and ringing the doorbell multiple times, he was the one who was in for a surprise when nobody came to open the door. Thinking that they were probably at the boutel that the family managed, he headed to the nearby building. Again, he was surprised to see that there was also no one watching the front desk at the lobby, but he figured that the receptionist must have gone for a toilet break.
So much for surprising them. Might as well just spend the night here, anyway.
Since his pre-debut days, he had always liked spending time at the family-owned boutique hotel, helping out at the reception desk whenever he had time. Often, he would spend the night there in a vacant room at the third floor, which rarely got occupied because customers always wanted to avoid having to climb the stairs.
These days, he rarely got to visit the boutel. After debuting, he was always busy with the group’s activities, and when their popularity grew, he had to be careful whenever he visited to avoid having fans following him.
Sunggyu looked in his bag for the card keys to the room he always used before. He had intended to return it when he left to live in INFINITE's dorm, but for some reason, he kept forgetting to give it back. Finally touching the cold smooth surface of the card, he took it out and put it in his jeans pocket.
With the key card in hand, he started to feel excited at the idea of him spending the night at boutel again. Just like the old times. He smiled. As he started to climb the stairs, he heard the footsteps of someone entering the lobby. He looked back, expecting to see the person who was supposed to be watching the front desk. To his surprise, it was a teenage girl who came in. He shrugged and continued walking up the stairs.
“Room 315, room 315…” he muttered under his breath as he walked down the hallway of the third floor. Looking behind him, he was surprised to see that the girl was still there. He started to feel uneasy when he noticed that she seemed to be observing him intently.
Did she recognize me? Is she a fan? Why won’t she just come up to me? He kept stealing uneasy glances at the girl behind him. Why does she have to keep looking at me in that creepy way?
When he finally stopped at door of the last room, he fished in his pocket for the key. In the corner of his eyes, he noticed that the girl was also standing in front of the door of the next room. She seemed to be looking for her own key card in her bag. He could tell that she was still watching him, so he tried to move faster. In his haste to open the door, the key slipped from his hand and fell somewhere behind a potted plant outside the door. He bended down and felt for the card. Suddenly, he heard a flurry of footsteps behind him. He tried to turn around, but before he could even see what was happening, he felt a sharp blow at the back of his head. Then, everything went black.
Sunggyu quickly sat upright on the bed when he remembered what happened. He winced as he felt his head throb in pain at the sudden movement. When the pain subsided, he looked around the room and found no sign of the girl he saw earlier.
He examined the room and found that it was, indeed, the place which he was so often used to seeing before. Room 315.
That girl probably took my key and brought me here. His brows furrowed as he thought about it. Is she a sasaeng fan? What is she planning to do?
He stood up and left the bed, eager to get out before he had no choice but to learn the answer to his questions. Just as he was about to walk towards the door, however, he heard another door open. He darted a look towards the source of the sound and saw the bathroom door ajar. The girl who was following him stood at the doorway.
Crap. What do I do now?
You stood there, frozen, rooted to the ground.
More than an hour and a half had passed since you brought the unconscious Sunggyu into your room. You probably would never even have brought him inside if it was another person instead of him, but seeing that it was Sunggyu, the fangirl in you automatically took over. Against your better judgement, you convinced yourself that he probably had a good reason for doing what he just did - that is, trying to break into your room. After seeing that there was a bump already starting to form on his head, you went to the bathroom to soak a towel in cold water so you could treat it. However, when you stepped out of the bathroom, you were surprised at the sight of Sunggyu already up, poised like he was about to walk towards the door.
So he’s actually taller than what I expected him to be. And his eyes…wait, where are his eyes?...
Feeling water starting to drip on your feet from the towel you were holding, you snapped out of your daze. You noticed that he looked like he was ready to bolt out of the room any moment.
“Ummm…maybe you should take a seat first,” you slowly said, trying to hide your nervousness. Even in your wildest fangirl fantasies, you never imagined yourself in a situation where your idol would attempt to break into your room like a thief.
Upon hearing you speak, he cocked his head to one side. The slight accent you had did not go unnoticed by him, and he squinted his eyes to get a better look at you. It was only then that he noticed that you were not a native Korean.
Meanwhile, you have started to gawk at him again. A phenomenon has occured. His eyes have disappered.
Don't be stupid! You mentally punched yourself. Now is not the time to be entranced by disappearing eyes!
You motioned for him to sit down on the bed. Although hesitant, he did what you asked.
“So, why are you breaking into rooms?” you asked straight to the point. You kind of felt more powerful now that you were standing taller than him.
“M-mwoh?” Sunggyu’s eyes bugged out, if that was even possible in his case. “What are you talking about? You were the one who followed me and attacked me suddenly!”
“Well, of course I would attack you! You broke into my room, for heaven’s sake!”
“Your room?...” Sunggyu looked confused. He looked around and noticed for the first time the suitcase and bags that sat beside the closet. It didn’t take long for him to put the pieces together and grasp the situation. Your awkward accent, the suitcases, the bump that was now throbbing on his head…
“Miss, I think there has been a huge misunderstanding here,” he said carefully, finally realizing what was going on.
“Really? Well, I hope so because I sure don’t want to report my id--…I mean, I don’t want to report anyone to the police.” You blushed at your almost-slip. You can't let him see your weakness! “Please explain what you’re doing here and why you tried to break into my room.”
“No, no! I swear I wasn’t trying to break into your room! I had my own key. I just didn’t know someone else was already staying here,” he said. Seeing the look on his face, you wanted to believe him instantly.
“But why would they give you a card to this room when I’m already occupying this?” you asked, confused. Then, you remembered that no one was watching the front desk when you came. You looked at him suspiciously.
“No one was at the reception desk earlier. How did you get your key card then?” you asked. No matter how much you wanted to believe this incredibly gorgeous guy, his story just didn’t make sense.
Sunggyu's brows furrowed again as he tried to weigh his options. Should I tell her the truth? If I do, news might spread and fans might start following me here whenever I visit. But she’s a foreigner, so she probably doesn’t even know who I am. So far, she hasn’t shown any signs of recognizing me. Yes, I’ll just tell her the truth. Of course she doesn’t have to know the whole truth.
“Well, about that…” Sunggyu started to say. You listened attentively as he explained the story of how he is actually the son of the building's owners, specifically leaving out the part about how he is also a famous idol. When he was done, all you could do was stand there and gape at him.
Oh. My. Gods of Fangirling. I slept in the bed Kim Sunggyu used to sleep in!!!
