I Don't Like Her... Seriously

What the hell did she think I was? Dial a tutor? There was no way on earth I–a girl–was going to that girl's house at night, especially a lady like her. She was a dangerous creep. I finished brushing my teeth, spat out the toothpaste, and rinsed my mouth out before putting my retainer back in.

Grateful that I had finished my homework earlier, I crawled into bed and went to sleep as many other normal human beings would.

As I woke up, the sun was shining; the birds were chirping and the cold weather was starting to move in. In about two weeks’ time, it would be winter, and I would roll out of bed covered in my blanket.

On the walk to school, I was particularly cautious of any punks jumping out from somewhere randomly. The breeze was getting cooler and now; it made my cheeks tingle a little as I walked against the wind.

The weather was almost perfect for walking and I felt almost as light as a feather. My walk to school had been quick today. Five seconds later, I felt like a rock sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

“Hey there nerdy,” Momo smirked, leaning against the school gate.

My heart, along with the rest of my stomach sank to my feet. "Hi?" I answered cautiously, thinking of what she could possibly be plotting.

"So how about it?" she asked.

"How about what?" I replied, successfully keeping the irritation out of my tone.

"Tutoring at six,"

"No?" I answered as though it were a question, hoping she wouldn't start attacking me.

"We'll pay you," she added quickly. I paused, and seeing this, continued,

"For the four of us... how do one hundred dollars per hour sound?"

"One hundred?!" I half-exclaimed, despite trying to show no signs of interest. I had failed.

"I'll take that as a yes," she said, looking rather complacent before walking off with her hands in her blazer's pockets. Her shirt was a little more tucked-in than usual today, the whole tail wasn't sticking out.

Was I really going to risk going to her house at six o'clock just to get one hundred (or possibly more) dollars? Surely, her parents would be at home. If they weren't, I could just leave - probably not freely, but running was always a solution.

"You seem to be in deep thought," Sana - my friend - commented as I
walked through the gate. I sighed and began recalling all the events
that had occurred as well as what was possibly going to occur.

At the end of it, she exclaimed, "Go for it!"

"Why on earth?" I quickly snapped; I hadn't expected such a strange and
enthusiastic attitude towards the mere idea of being around the punks.

"Think about it this way..." she paused. "If you become friends...then
they won't bother us. Ever," she said, putting particular emphasis on
the 'ever'.

"You do understand that this is bothering me right now, right?"

"No pain, no gain."

On one hand, Sana had a point, on the other hand, her idea sounded
crazy. Befriending the punks? Even in their little punk group, were they
even 'friends'? The thoughts went and forth in my mind as I sat in
chemistry class.

A pencil started erratically tapping my head and I looked up, nearly
snarling as I said "What?" Nayeon looked at me with a weird expression and
stopped tapping me with the pencil.

"Is this balanced?" she asked, passing me a sheet of paper that had an
equation messily written on it. I quickly checked through, and amazingly
enough, it was balanced.

"Yep," I replied, handing it back, still wondering whether or not I had
just witnessed a punk getting a question right.

The rest of the punks were peculiarly silent today and actually trying
to do work, although the only one successfully getting anything done was
Nayeon.

Jeongyeon stared off into the distance. Tzuyu glared at her work so much it
looked as though she intended to work up some laser eyes and burn it to
shreds. Momo had one elbow on the desk and was leaning on her hand
while scribbling circles and whatnot on her page.

Momo turned and looked at me and I quickly looked down. On the way out
of class, she stopped me just as I left the door. "What was that?" she asked.

"What was what?" I replied.

"That look,"

"That look when?"

"During class,"

Right. That look. The look of complete and utter fascination at how a
species of human could be so thick brained.

"Oh, that look. I do it on accident all the time," I answered casually.

"Move along to class," Mrs. Choi reminded and I quickly walked off. For
the next few classes, I was given peace and quiet to study as none of
the punks were in my class. After finding out I had a physics test on
Monday morning, I didn't feel so great.

As I left the school gate, the punks were once again waiting straight
outside. I looked down and kept walking, but as I made my way past, I
felt a strong tug on my bag and turned to find Jeongyeon grabbing the back of
my bag.

"Six o'clock sharp," she reminded.

"Uh yeah okay," I replied. Why were they so enthusiastic about this? They weren't exactly the type to care about their studies.

"Mum I'm going tutoring at six today," I said to my mum as I walked into
the kitchen.

"You do tutoring?" she asked, somewhat surprised.

"Yeah. It's just a few streets away so I'll walk,"

"At six? Isn't that a bit late? It gets dark soon."

"I'll be fine."

"Remember to have your phone with you, and if it's too dark, stop by
Xiumin's house and get him to walk you home."

"Yes, yes," I droned. Xiumin was an old childhood friend and I'd bothered
him one too many times already so I wan't exactly keen on doing it again.

At five fifty, I changed into some skinny jeans and a casual loose grey
t-shirt, grabbed the textbooks and pens and set off. On the way out, I
grabbed my grey jacket, figuring it would probably get cold soon. I had
a decent idea of where her house was, but I double checked in the map
just to make sure.

Seven minutes later, I was standing on the path just in front of a
normal-looking house, with a normal-looking lawn. Funny. I didn't think
her house would look...normal. I double checked the number on the
postbox. It was the right house.

The rest of the girls must already been swarmed inside because music
could be heard from out there. I walked up to the door and knocked
twice. A minute later, the door opened and a girl poked her head out.
Dahyun. She looked at me, smirked and yelled inside, "She's here!" She
glanced at my 'outfit'. "And she's dressed just for the occasion."

You know that really bad feeling when you're facing imminent doom? The
one where your gut starts to sink down to your feet? Yeah. That was how
I was feeling when she swung the door open.

A whole swarm of faces were looking straight at me. From this bunch, I
could recognise majority of the cheerleading squad, the football team
and the other useless people who were popular for no good reason.

"So the nerd has come to play?" the captain of the football team, Zico,
jeered.
"Oh God, is that a textbook?" Seolhyun, the head cheerleader and the
girlfriend of Zico, laughed. She pulled it out of my arms and beckoned
the other girls closer.

They exchanged quick glances between them and the next thing I knew,
they were tearing out pages, tearing off corners and scrunching up the
whole thing. I shoved them backwards and pulled the textbook backwards.
I turned, about to leave when Momo blocked the doorway.

She stared at me with her piercingly hazel eyes yet again, but I looked
away and tried to weave past her. She shut the door with her foot and
swiveled me around.

"Today, Mina is our guest of honour," she announced, "so play nicely."
My mind went weak at the thought of spending an hour or so trapped in a
house with these people. They all went back to their previous activities
and I somehow found myself wondering into the kitchen.

"Oh goodness, hello. I don't seem to know who you are. One of Momo's
friends?" a pretty lady with long blonde hair exclaimed.

"Uh, hello. Um, I'm...tutoring...her?" I replied reluctantly.

"Oh really? That's great. Make sure to let me know if she doesn't pay
you," she laughed. "I'm Momo's mum, Akira."

"Nice to meet you," I smiled. I never imagined that her mother would be
civilised, let alone nice.

Momo stuck her head into the kitchen and dragged me out. "What?" I
quickly asked.

"Do not talk to my mum," she said frantically, ushering me along. I
nodded as a sort of 'bye' sign and headed back to where everyone else
was. They were all doing...something. Majority of the girls were taking
photos, or flirting, and majority of the boys were trying to impress the
girls .

Jeongyeon, Tzuyu and Nayeon were surrounded by girls and boys as per usual. "Is this the
first time you've been to a party like this?" Momo asked, looking over
at me. I nodded slowly. "Well then, we should get you initiated into
some of our fun."

"What fun?" I asked.

"Seven minutes in heaven!" someone exclaimed loudly. I gulped.
