Like every normal high school, there are a set of rules you need to follow; Suwon High School was no exception. With rules, comes the rulers and this is what differentiates Do Kyungsoo from the rest. In every hierarchy, there will be leaders; cream of the crop, the ones that rule over the entire school in many different forms; President of the student body, Captain of the school’s basketball team and the National Chemistry Olympiad winner, just to name a few.

When somebody leads, there will be others who will be lead; the resident class clown; that boy from the other class who seems to be late every day; the Goth wannabe girls and of course the misfits; those who just can’t fit in well with others, and is utterly useless in everything they do.

Even after listing all the potential characteristics of a normal high schooler; you can never fit Do Kyungsoo in any one of those; not even the misfits.

He was not overly the top famous among his schoolmates; yet people know who he was. He did not score straight As in his examinations; yet the teachers were fond of him. He was never the best at sports; yet he was able to join multiple school teams; winning with them too if you were to add to his amazing feed. He was not that great of a singer either; unless singing at your local church counts then he was simply not on par with his choir mates who were regulars with the Korean National Choir; yet he was able to join the legendary choir team of his school.

You see, the thing with Do Kyungsoo was this; even though on the surface his life looked perfectly normal; it was not. Everyone knew he showed great efforts to blend in with the rest of the school, (there were rumours that even the misfits tried befriending him, but it was to no avail) but the truth is that he simply could not.

His classmates knew this; and so did Do Kyungsoo.

They truly appreciate his presence though; don’t get them wrong. His schoolmates always feel a sense of calmness with him around. Perhaps his kind of calmness differs than that of them; maybe that was the reason why Do Kyungsoo liked to keep to himself.
