Ahn Nara sits quietly in her designated seat that he specially prepared for her. She’s about to do an important part in this special day and she feels the need to get herself together for his sake. She takes a look one more time on his face to see the winning grin he has that somehow covers the nervousness in his eyes. He takes her hand and ask her to stand up, without command he places his palm on her hips and she knows what he’s about to do as she automatically lifts her hand to lays gently on his shoulder while her other hand is tangled in between his fingers. He takes a step forward, leading them into the dance while following the romantic music from behind, she knows him better than anyone else and she understands that it’s his way to loosen up before the important event that’s about to take place.

“Do you think I’ll ever be ready for this?” He whispers, no more trying to hide his fear. “Tell me I’m doing the right thing.”

She swallows the lump in and smiles, “I think it’s the best decision you ever make in your life.”

“I’ll find you another back up.” He chuckles to let loose a little. “But that person has to be better than me.”

She smiles bitterly. “I don’t need your help, I’m not that ugly.”

“Not because I think you’re lacking in appearance, but because I have to make sure you only get the best!” He places his palm on her face, “A wonderful person like you only deserves the best. If it weren’t for her, it’ll be you. You know that, right?”

“Just focus on your vow, I can take care of myself. Promise me to sneak in a whole bottle of Patron to my room later, ne? The big bottle!”

He shakes his head, refusing the idea of her and a bottle of tequila having an affair for tonight. “I can’t look out for you tonight, I’ll be busy doing something else—if you know what I mean.” He giggles playfully.

“I’ll lock my room so I won’t do anything stupid. No bottle, no ring!” She points her fore finger in front of his face.

“Arraseo. But I’m not taking any responsibility if you wake up next to a stranger the next day.”

“No worries, I’ll hug the bottle and sleep with it, no man should come closer to me tonight.” She scoffs to hide her wit, “I’m so excited for you, I can’t believe this is happening.” She squeezes his shoulder.

“Will you be okay?” He asks sharply.

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

“This is the end of an era.” He pushes himself away from her and looks closely into her eyes. “Our reckless youth, our crazy runaways, our adventures and our pact—our days are over.”

She sniffs her nose that begins to get runny, “Don’t make me cry, it’s emotional already.” Nara takes her gaze away from him.

“Ra-ya, you know that no matter what happen, you’re still my most—well second most—important person, right? Our days are over but one thing will always remain the same, you’ll always be my before anyone-else.” He runs his thumb under her eyes to wipe her flowing tears. “I love you.”

She pulls his arms then gives him a big hug, he gladly takes her into his embrace to return the favor for her while slowly patting her as he runs his hand across her back. This isn’t just hard for her, it’s hard for him also. He doesn’t want to abandon her yet at the same time he has to, because as much as he loves her, there’s a bigger kind of love waiting for him by the end of the day.
