Description

Greek mythology tells the tale of the Teumessian vixen and the magical hound, Laelaps.

Sent as a punishment for a worldly crime, the Vixen was destined to never be caught.

A gift of courtship from Zeus to Europa, Laelaps was destined to catch everything it hunted.

In death, they became the Canis Major and Canis Minor of the night sky.

Foreword

"So the myth goes that Laelaps is sent to hunt the Teumessian fox, which is technically an impossible task, you see, because of the paradoxical nature of their mutually excluding abilities, right?

So this bastard, Zeus, decides he doesn’t have time to solve this lapse in logic, and turns the both of them into stone and flicked them off into the universe. Sort of like putting the chase on hold indeterminately. Again, irresponsible. He should have flicked both the chicken and the egg off into space too then."

"Why are you so worked up?"

"I’m not worked up! It’s just unfair."

"What’s unfair?"

"Everything! It wasn’t the Teumessian fox’s fault it was sent as a punishment, and it wasn’t Laelaps’ fault he was sent to hunt the Teumessian fox, so who gave Zeus the holy rights to –"

"He’s a God, Baek, he has all the holy rights."

"Shut up for a moment and let me talk!"

"Okay, I’m listening. Talk."

"So like, after his holiness decided to shoot his responsibilities off into space, Laelaps became the constellation Canis Major, right? And naturally the Teumessian fox became the Canis Minor. Logically speaking, these constellations will never intercept, you get me?"

"No, you lost me at his holiness, but continue."

"Just shut up and listen anyways. So as I was saying, if they never intercept, wouldn’t that mean that the Teumessian fox won? Cause it never got caught?"

"Hold on, I thought you said the chase was put on hold indeterminately?"

"But it stays a fact that in the end Laelaps didn’t catch the Teumessian fox. Don’t you see?"

"Damn, that’s some deep Baek, I think I kind of get where you’re coming from with all this interest in Geek mythology and stuff."

"It’s Greek, ."
