Kyungsoo’s father’s arrival was both scary and joyful. The omega prince was glad that he was meeting a family member after the months that he had been in a foreign land which was slowly starting to feel like a second home. All of the previous meetings between the senior king and his husband who was significantly younger has happened in their country. He was certain that whatever the issue that brought his father to the Kims land was, it was so important that it made his father ignore his pride and make the trip.

To say that he was worried was an understatement. He was dreading the outcome of this uninvited trip of his father. No matter how hard he tried to ignore the queasiness of his guts, whenever his mind wandered around the possible results or even motivations of the visit, he couldn’t come up with a theory that was at least convincing to him.

The incident at the mountains was almost forgotten when the political schemes of his father and his husband against each other was what he was left to deal with. He was aware of the mood swings and tantrums that he was going through. He knew that the days that he missed his herbal tea while he was out of the palace and during his recovery were messing with his cycle. He was expecting a hard heat that would leave him in great emotional and physical pain. All of the symptoms were there. It was a matter of one or two days for him to actually get into the curse that was his long-neglected heat.

King Jongin made sure to welcome his father in law with the greatest respect. He did not like the man one bit. He couldn’t help the bitter feeling caused by the fact that the old king had intentionally come in such a short notice to catch him off guard. Kyungsoo however, seemed very happy and on edge about reuniting with his father. It was amusing to see the young man like that.

He threw a small and relatively intimate fest for the king, inviting only his court members and officials. King Sooman, Kyungsoo’s father, had brought them many souvenirs and gifts that included a couple of big chests just for his omega. It was a nice gesture even though it made him second guess himself. Kyungsoo as the youngest and the only omega prince of his kingdom must have been used to all of these gifts and spoilings. He couldn’t stop comparing the big number of gifts which were given to his husband by his father with what he had given him; a sprained wrist and a neckless and a crown which came with too much responsibility for his narrow shoulders to carry. The thought itself made him feel sick. How pathetic and stingy he must have looked.

When the dinner was over king Sooman had politely asked for Jongin’s permission to have a conversation with his son. And he had agreed. Kyungsoo guided his father to the study room that was prepared for him. The room was a nice surprise by king Jongin to cheer him up after he was granted the healers’ permission of leaving his bed. His father followed him silently and once they were away from the watchful eyes of the palace workers, hugged him tightly. His father put a lingering kiss on his forehead and talked to him about everything, his brothers, their pups, his own mother and their packs. It was a nice and easy conversation until the king looked like he just remembered something unpleasant, something that made his eyes more tired and serious all of a sudden.

Kyungsoo braced himself for whatever it was. He was a man, he could take it. “Father, what is it?”
