It Might Be You... Who Knows...Sequel Story: The King and I (Will start at Chapter 537)Continuation............... espresso so good... let's proceed......
Meanwhile, inside Jean’s room, Kangin and his companions are panicking as to what to do to the current situation. Luckily, Tonette’s trusted chauffeur, Mr. Andrew arrives and settles the stressed situation.
Andrew: I come here by the order of Princess Tonette, Sir Jean (makes a courtesy bow). Please
settle down and I will help you arrange yourself (arranges all the things needed for Jean’s
presentation).
Jean: (sighs in relief and wipes his sweat off) Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your
help so much – I am so sorry for the inconvenience I may have caused.
Andrew: (smiles and admires his good natured manner) the pleasure is mine Sir.
All of them help in the preparation of Jean. The latter who doesn’t have any idea how he looks like, just assures himself that he hopes he looks fine. When done, Kangin asks Jean to walk towards the mirror – much to Jean’s surprise… he could not recognize himself…
Jean: Mr. Andrew, Kangin and everyone – is this me?
They all laugh at Jean’s question while watching him in full admiration how fine-looking he is and everyone agreed that they have just done something wonderful. Andrew signals the time to go and meet the royal family - at the banquet area. Everyone takes a deep breath and hoping nothing bad will happen. While walking along the pathway… Jean speaks due perhaps to nervousness that he could not contain himself to calm down…
Jean: Mr. Kangin and Mr. Andrew, do you think everything will be alright. Won’t I look like a fool
in front of them and how does that Prince Brutus look like? I feel like ice ... melting…
Andrew: (smiles at Jean’s weariness) Oh, Sir Jean you really don’t have to worry about everything.
You are really really just fine and Princess Tonette has your back… so don’t worry…
Kangin: (nods in agreement) though I have not seen that Prince they are talking about – I believe
from Princess Tonette’s actions – she doesn’t like him at all…
Andrew: yeah… I agree to that…
Near to the meeting place, Andrew calls on one of the servants to inform him of their arrival. The servant goes and quickly comes back with information that they should wait for the signal before they appear thus, patiently they all wait. Within ten minutes two guards approach them; one guiding Jean and the other ushers Kangin and company while Andrew follows. Andrew and Kangin as well as the others are the first ones to appear in front of the Royal family and visitors. Andrew and Kangin signal Tonette that Jean is on his way. In just a minute, the other guard who handles Jean shows up behind Tonette’s back informing her that Jean is with him and will now proceed at the farthest center part of the banquet area but will be kept hidden until the announcement.
Tonette waits for a while before informing his father of Jean’s arrival. When confident whispers in her father’s ear about the news – her father nods in acknowledgment and smiles. King Philip calls on a guard to instruct the presenter to proclaim Jean’s presence. In the midst of what is going on Prince Brutus has his own agenda thus speaks,
P. Brutus: His Majesty, where is this man who seems to be my great rival in Tonette’s life? Has he
arrived?
K. Philip: Prince Brutus, I believe he is here – please wait a moment…
King Philip raises his hand and the presenter announces Jean’s arrival.
At the same time, the curtain parts way in opposite direction, spotlights solely focus on Jean which cause to produce a different kind of aura resulting to add vibrancy to the now already attractive latter’s form. Jean wears in confidence, a very elegant and expensive limited edition white tuxedo creation by Brioni.
Everyone looks and watches him strides along the center way gives gasps of shock. Tonette, who is seated beside her mother could not contain her happiness, squeezes her mother’s left hand who in turn returns the favor by also patting her hand lightly. The King notices her daughter reaction leans forward to the direction of Tonette, looks at her and smiles.
Meanwhile on the face of endless nervousness - Jean, is now in front of the royal family. He silently struggles for courage for his next course of action – to voice out his intention. He almost could not manage to go through with it if not without the continuous love and support given by Tonette. Now, all he needs to do is ask a simple yet hard question, four to five sentences of heartedly sincere words, and yet at this time they seem to be the most momentous sentences ever.
But asking his girlfriend to marry him is not the problem at all; what is nerve wracking and weak in the knees is asking her father, the king - so he says…
Jean: His Majesty King Philip and Her Majesty Queen Margret, I am Jean Fairmonte Guillard
Owen from Luzembourg. As you know, I love your daughter very much. She is the most
beautiful, funny, intelligent and loving woman a man could ever ask for. Though we've just
met and been together for a short period of time, I can't imagine spending my life with
anyone else but her. I would like to ask her to marry me and I'm here today to ask you for
your blessing
Hearing Jean’s intentions, Prince Brutus immediately stands in protest saying…
P.Brutus: So we meet Sir Jean but you need to understand that His Majesty King Philip has already
agreed on the arranged marriage couple of weeks back. Thus, saying your intentions now
nulls your intentions no matter how sincere they are – it is a bit too late.
Jean: His Majesty King Philip hear my request as we all know what happened as a result – Jean
fled to escape that decision. If forced into it – I believe the same result will eventually
happen. Is there any way where the two of us (looking intently at P. Brutus) can prove our
love for Princess Tonette, Prince Brutus?
P. Brutus: (confidently smiles) Fight for Love – sort of competition – is the best way I believe.
Whoever wins marries Princess Tonette!
Jean: Therefore, I say, I would like to propose a situation in which the honorable Prince Brutus
who would not think otherwise and I compete with each other in order to achieve Princess
Tonette’s trust and love – this I would like to ask Princess Tonette’s permission if she will
allow (turns to face Tonette and says) Will you give us your permission?
Tonette: (looking at the nodding parents, says) I agree and I will allow each one of you to choose
two types of matches both of you will compete with and the rest, is going to be my mother
the Queen's choices for the other types of competition. Hence, we all agreed in this case,
let’s start the competition tomorrow.
Soon as the declaration is over, Jean heads back to his room sweating the entire time. He calls on Kangin to accompany him…
Jean: (breathing assiduously) Mr. Kangin, I believe I am going to bed now – I’m beat. Please
inform Ms. Tonette about this as she might get worried.
Kangin: (worried over Jean’s welfare) I will, have courage Sir Jean and good night.
Jean: (gently smiles) Thank you Mr. Kangin.
