Day 4 – Kibum’s Meeting and The Announcement

On the following day; before heading to his plan, he double checks pending works he needs to finish when clear of all things, directs to school to meet with the school-in-charge, Siwon – to set and discuss his invitation. Luckily he learns that Siwon is in the office, so he knocks…

“Mr. Siwon, good morning! There is something I need to tell you. Could you give me a minute of your time?”

Siwon:             Oh good morning too, Mr. Kim Kibum. Yes, not a problem. Please come in. Hold on for a
                        minute (calling his secretary) – Ms. Sunny kindly receive my calls and if somebody looks
                        for me – I am in a meeting, ok?!

 Sunny:             Yes, sir.

 Siwon:             Yes, Mr. Kim what can I do for you?

Kibum:             It’s really not so important – it's just that I’m pretty embarrassed to let you know but 
                        through you - I believe it is much easier on my part.

 Siwon:             Mr. Kim; nothing is not important – that is what I believe. Please tell me. I will see what I
                        can do.

 Kibum:             Mr. Siwon, it is my parents actually they have persuaded me to hold my birthday
                          celebration and I am just wondering if it is alright with you if I invite you and (before he
                         can continue Siwon interjects)…

 Siwon:             (excitedly replies) oh it’s that it – sure why not?! I’d be very happy Mr. Kim…

 Kibum:             (insists) Mr. Siwon, am not finished yet…

 Siwon:             (wonders) what do you mean?

                      Kibum:             I would like to invite everyone here in the school; students and the school staffs…hhmmm
                                              (bows his head)

 Siwon:             Whhhattt?! (covering his mouth in full shock, stuttering he replies) a-a-a-hhre yo-ou su-
                         sure? Mr. Kim…

 Kibum:             (raises his head to face the electrified Siwon and hesitating as whether mentioning it was
                         a good idea) hmmm… I am sorry. I should not have suggested this idea to my parents. I
                         apologize for putting the pressure on you.

                      Siwon:             (surprised by Kibum’s statement) No… Mr. Kim – we will all be delighted to be honest…
                                              really but inviting everyone is (but instantly thinks – yeah, they are the super-rich people)
                                              … but how…. Are you going to manage?

 Kibum:             My parents will speak to you on the arrangement because I really don’t have any idea as 
                         to where the party is going to be held. All I know is that – my parents wants to surprise me
                         with the whole celebration thing. To be honest, I really don’t need a party but it is my
                         parent’s wish so I guess I owe it to them.

 Siwon:             I will make the announcement but when is it going to be – I mean the details?

 Kibum:             It is going to be next week. By the way, Mr. Siwon, I would like to have the list of all the
                         students as well as the school staff for the arrangement. But before we move on, let me
                         tell you that this is going to be a two-day event.

                        Are you all right with that? It is going to be on the weekend starting Friday – just to be safe
                        with school’s schedule. I don’t want to cause a lot of trouble to students’ studies.

 Siwon:             Oh, I guess – that’d be all right. If some students would not participate then I guess it is
                         their choice.

 Kibum:             (sighs in relief) OH! Thanks a lot Mr. Siwon. You know, I am really happy because at least
                         I would be having guests of my age. I am pretty sure that if not with this invitation – my
                         party would be composed of my Parent’s guests – and that'd be so boring.

 Siwon:             (surprised by Kibum’s sounding relief) Oh, really?

 Kibum:             yeah!! Not that I mind but I may not enjoy it (smiles)

 Siwon:             All right then, please tell me what should I do…

 Kibum:             (breathes) Ok, as I have mentioned, here it is:

                                                 What:              Kim Kibum’s Birthday Celebration

                                                                        2-day Event

                                                 When:             Starting Friday to Saturday

                                                 Where:            (To be mentioned via phone by Wednesday)

                                                                         (regardless of venue – safety is guaranteed)

                                                 Travel:            Free (all covered by the celebrant’s family)

                                                 Lodging:          Free (To be covered by the celebrant’s family)

                                                 Wear?             Casual before the event, and Formal during the event

                                                 No. of Person: 1 student plus a companion

                       Mr. Siwon, Please do not worry – we will cover and manage everything. I believe some of
                       these students’ parents are friends with my family perhaps in business or acquaintances.
                       So I would suggest you let them know now – so that they can inform their parents. I thought
                       of it last night – I shall let my parents know that I decided on having in set like 1+1
                       meaning one student plus their companion.

                       I would like to know as early as possible if they wish to attend or not so we can make a
                       headcount of; the total attendants thus, from the list we'd know who needs and
                       doesn't need transportation facilities. Please ask them to send their replies to you via email
                       – then kindly send the final detail to me - here is my email address… and also if you think it
                       is a good idea to write my email address in the invitation then i leave it up to you to decide.

                       One more thing, please very important – it is an absolute must:

                      “No camera allowed but we can provide simple mobiles without camera to every guest,
                       please instruct them to list the mobile numbers of person they wish to call during the two
                      day event.

                      Please make a note of these requests. Sorry to put pressure on you…. Thank you Mr.
                      Siwon and I will leave now…(leaves the place as soon as possible)

                    Siwon:             Bye too… (saying to himself) “oh my god, I am so excited – I have never been to any of
                                            the “Kim’s Gathering” – I’ve heard that it is really magnificent. This is going to be a lifetime
                                            opportunity in my whole entire life. I just know that this is going to be so spectacular” (calls
                                            Sunny) Ms. Sunny..!!

Sunny:            Yes sir, what is it?

 Siwon:           Ms. Sunny, quick, quick…. Type these data, make 250 copies coz we will have to 
                       distribute them – for the meantime, I will make an annoucement of the assembly but you
                       manage the arrangement inside the gymnasium - the time is at 4:00pm, ok? Make
                       it quick, please…

 Sunny:           Yes Sir…right away sir…(quickly does what is instructed of her)

As Sunny is typing the details, Siwon goes to his room where the intercom counter is and makes an announcement;

“ATTENTION EVERYONE: CALLING ALL STUDENTS, FACULTIES AND STAFFS. PROCEED TO THE GYMNASIUM AT 4:00PM TODAY. I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE” (repeated three times)

Meanwhile upon hearing the announcement; all students wonder what is going on…

 “Hey, did you hear that?”

“yeah, what could it be?”

“Important announcement, I hope something fun”

“I hope so too…”

 “4:00pm? Hmmm”

At the same time, Minho calls Taemin regarding this,

 Minho:             Taeminnie, meet me at the gym ok?

 Taemin:           Sure hyung, I wonder what it is?

 Minho:             yeah, I don’t have any idea... see you there?

 Taemin:           hhhmmm…. Ok, bye hyung…

 Minho:             Bye…

 Meanwhile at Kibum’s Manor…

Kibum:             (in doubt and wondering) Mr. Taeyang, do you think I am over-doing it?

Taeyang:         (shakes his head) I don’t think so Bummie comparing to the number of people your
                        parents are going to invite – yours, is incomparably few…

 Kibum:             (puckering his lips) you think so?

 Taeyang:         yes Bummie, don’t worry…

 Later in the afternoon at Kibum’s school, the students, faculties as well as the school office staffs have now gathered inside the gymnasium waiting for Siwon’s announcement. All are very anxious to know what it is all about as the festival had just finished and most of them concluded it could perhaps be a depressing news – additional exams, failing students or worse – outdoor compelled duties of some sort…

 After awhile Siwon appears smiling making students cringe, wonder and raise their eyebrows. So Siwon announces…

“Everyone, thank you for coming this afternoon for such a short notice…

Well, I have gathered you today for a very important news but before revealing it. Let me distribute these envelopes to all of you but take note, you will only open it after my signal – hear the whistle, ok (students all nod).”

“So everyone, please form four straight lines facing each other at 6 feet apart. Teachers please watch them carefully – whoever opens the envelope without my signal will be eliminated from participating (teachers nod)…

Ok, everyone form four lines in no grade level order…”

Students amused and in wonder but due to Siwon’s serious manner of speaking silently start to do what they are asked to and once done – Sunny starts distributing all the envelopes to each and every student. Siwon, seeing completed says…

                     Siwon:             Everyone do you have the envelope in your hand?

  “Yes, Mr. Siwon!!”

“Yes, we have it!!”

Gets his whistle and blows it…

 Instantaneously; all at the same time, the students open the said envelope… after 30 seconds, students become; astounded, some covering their mouths, some taking a deep breath, some gasping for air, some starting to make calls, some are crying – these make Siwon worry, thus he says…

“Everyone, so what do you think?”

 In unison, say…

 “YES! YES!! WE WILL GO!!”

Siwon:             (sighs and exhales) oh my goodness, why are you guys not talking, I was so worried…

Sr. Student1:   We are sorry Mr. Siwon, we are just so overwhelmed – I mean – it is the Kim’s and you
                        know who they are!! Of course we are so happy about it!!

Sr. Student2:   My gosh…this is like attending an unbelievable breathtaking event – I can’t wait!

Jr. Student1:   (suddenly yells) Mr. Siwon, I just called my parents and my Mom is overly excited about
                        the news but I have one bit of a problem… my dad wants to go as well!!

 Siwon:             (chuckles at the one who just shouted a request) We will see but not a promise – so
                         everyone fill in all the information needed – send them to me via email, I presume you
                         now my email address and write your additional request. But; hey! Please if you may,
                        don’t overdo it – it is pretty embarrassing – ok? Just to be invited is already an honor... and 
                        also please follow the rules provided in the invitation – it is a must – as per Mr. Kim’s
                        request…

Minho and Taemin look at each other and say…

Taemin:           Hyung, oh my god… it is Key-hyung’s birthday, how come I didn’t know about it?

 Minho:             he might have forgotten coz originally he had no intention of holding a party – by passing,
                         he told me about it – it wasn’t a serious talk until now…

 Taemin:           oh… I see…

 Minho:             I guess Uncle and Auntie have persuaded Kibum to hold a grand party. You see
                        Taeminnie, Kibum since little never wanted to hold any party regardless of nature – he’s so
                        modest and down to earth person unlike his dad – quite the opposite.

                        Kibum has same personality as Aunt Jessica but not entirely as Aunt Jessica who  enjoys
                        the spotlight too. His parents are famous actors, did you know that?

 Taemin:           hhmmm… I think I need to read magazines that talk about the Kim’s social activities

 Minho:             hey Taeminnie, just asks Mom – she knows… cause I have a feeling Aunt Jessica informs
                         her every now and then. Unlike before when they have not settled here, Mom didn’t have 
                         a way to know what was happening with the Kims’. But really, this is something…HUGE!!
                         I can’t imagine, hey..Taeminnie – what gift should we give?

 Taeminnie:      (shock at his brother’s statement) Hyung?! What?! Are you crazy?

 Minho:             (curios on Taemin’s statement) What Taeminnie – we should give something, you know!

 Taeminnie:      (sighs at the ridiculousness of his brother) ggeezzz… for somebody like Kibum – he 
                         doesn’t want anything from anyone coz HYUNG, HE HAS EVERYTHING!! aaiggooo, you
                         should know that!!

 Minho:             (embarrassed by his foolishness, chuckles) he he – yeah… but I still want to give him
                         something to remember me by…

 Taemin:           (wonders in suspicion) hhmm… I wonder what you are up to…

 Minho:             (glares at Taemin) shut up Taeminnie…mind your own business…

 Taemin:           (shrugs his shoulders and smirks) oh hyung… you are so easy to read… by the way…
                         your face says it all…

 Minho:             (shakes his head) whatever Taeminnie… I don’t care… now my request is my question - I
                         wonder if Mom and Dad already knew about it.

 Taemin:           You just said so - I believe so… especially Mom… Aunt Jessica and Mom are like sisters
                         you know… but we can ask them tomorrow as they will come home pretty late tonight…

 Minho:             yeah… so I guess we can go home now… Mr. Siwon is now allowing everyone to go
                         home early – that guy is pretty darn excited himself – it is all written on his face…

 Taemin:           oh..(smugs) yeah… Mr. Siwon is overly excited – freaking girly excited…he he he

 Minho:             Taeminnie (looks at Taemin in a serious face) stop it…

 Taemin:           ok (pouts) you act like an “old man”…

 Minho:             yeah…yeah…
