To every story there is an ending, but in life, every ending is just a new beginning.

If love is a game of guessing and the endless sacrifices made from each side, why do people still fall in love and make themselves vulnerable to such pain and heartache?

He knew that she loved him, and she knew that he loved her too. Yet in the reality of the cruel world, fairy-tale endings were considered rare, perhaps even a miracle.

Since nothing good in life is ever scripted, why bother making predictions?

The hardest part of loving someone isn’t the tears or the hurtful words that cannot be taken back. Not the feeling of being cheated on, nor the unfortunate case of unreciprocated love.

Like a wound that never heals, a scar that never fades…

The hardest part of loving someone…

Is letting go.

Dim lights set the atmosphere of typical pubs near and far - along with its liquor and fair share of upbeat music, patrons partied through the wee hours of the night. Unknown to many outsiders, he was no stranger to such a perilous place where the number of complicated affairs only multiplied in magnitude.

Barely even able to walk in a straight line, he stumbled down the sidewalk on a journey to find his car. It was parked somewhere along the streets of Hong Kong’s most famous nightlife hotspots. Perhaps if he were still sober, he would remember in which direction he had come from...

He reached a hand into his jean pocket and drew out a set of keys, accidentally pulling a photograph out as well, which fell onto the pavement beside him.  As he tried his best to maintain his balance, he bent down and he picked up the picture, brushing clean the glossy surface with his thumb.

The smile of his mother and the innocence of his sister’s eyes, he could stare at the pleasant image forever. “Mom… She must be waiting for me…”

Beep. The back lights of a vehicle from across the street flashed and its doors unlocked instantly. Despite not looking to cross, he managed to make his way to the car unharmed.

After much fumbling with the keys, he was finally able to start the engine and fasten his seatbelt. The night had been long and his head was pounding already.  Desperately, he wanted to go home and fall onto the soft flat sheets of his bed.

“Mom, don’t worry, I’ll be home soon…”

It was barely a block away when his car smashed dangerously into the lamppost by the intersection turn.
