Kim Jonghyun, a 19 year old barista from Seoul has an obsession he's afraid to share with anyone else. The recent high school graduate is a fan of the 4-member idol group SHINee – particularly their gentle leader. His love of the group has impacted him in many ways: from improving his composition skills to providing him with entertainment on boring days. However, the only person who knows of the group’s effect on Kim Jonghyun’s life is his younger sister, Sodam.

Sodam disapproves of her brother hiding his love for the group. She believes that her brother would be happier if he admitted he was a flaming homoual with a deep love for girly idol bands. However, she was not going to force him to do so until he was truly comfortable with himself. It would happen one day and when it did she would lord it over him forever. After all, she had been right all along.

When that day comes, Jonghyun will realise exactly how right his sister was.

This is a long story based on the maturation of Jonghyun from the age of 19 to the age of 30. Through this time period Jonghyun experiences a number of key events in his life and matures from an insecure teen, afraid to show his true self, to a self-confident adult surrounded by friends, family and loved ones who support him as he progresses down his dream career path.

One thing that is constant throughout this time: SHINee.

Hey guys, so this a complete fic that I have been working on for… around a year now. I started writing it when I was in New Zealand with my family for Christmas 2014. I started bouncing ideas I had been having for a while off my sister and we finally moulded them into a storyline that made sense, at least to us. That storyline has since undergone several revisions, mostly to make it a little more believable – fanboy fics are wont to be a little unbelievable but I hope I made a storyline that isn’t too farfetched. However, I think the final result is pretty good. I hope you do, too.

This is a complete fic. However, there are some final edits I need to do (grammar checks, etc) before I post them. So updates will be regular and fairly fast (probably twice a week) and this fic will be complete, promise.

I took a few liberties with facts and such. I have no idea if Sodam is older or younger than Jonghyun in real life. I felt a little strange researching that information. My characterisation of all recognisable characters is either fabricated (eg. with Sodam) or based on their on-screen personas from watching a lot (a lot) of shows involving them.

So, yeah. I am quite proud of this fic. It took a lot of time and work to get it finished but I think I enjoyed the process. I’m not sure my sister, who I blackmailed into betaing for me and I continuously bounced ideas off of (even when she didn’t want to) enjoyed it as much.

So, I hope you guys enjoy the story and enjoy experiencing the life of a SHINee fanboy named Kim Jonghyun.
