Not a Hero

Description

Park Chanyeol wasn’t really the heroic type. He had strong morals, and never went against those, but he also wouldn’t stop if he saw someone at it.

It’s not that he didn’t want to, but high school was hard. Everyone did their best to fit in, and at that moment Chanyeol was at the top of the food chain. He was popular.

But among such kids classified as popular, there were some really terrible people. Those people liked to make fun of others whom they thought to be lesser than them. Chanyeol didn’t like that, and did not partake in any of it, but he also didn’t voice out his discomfort. He just let it happen.

Kim Jongdae wasn’t popular. He wasn’t smart either, nor talented at any random form of art. He was the epitome of ordinary. And being ordinary was not very good in high school, because even the kids who would not fall into the label of ‘popular’, had their own thing, their specific uniqueness. They had their style – might not be the best style in the eyes of other people – but it was theirs. Jongdae didn’t even have that for himself.

The boy lived in hand-me-down clothes, hand-me-down bags, hand-me-down books; Hand-me-down everything. By taking one look at him, there was no sense of originality, no sense of self. Nothing was his, therefore he couldn’t be seen.

And he mostly kept to himself, so his true person was a mystery. The other kids had fun picking at him. He was poor, and lacked presence. For that, they figured he had to be punished.

Those two boys’ lives were about to change completely. Things would turn around after one single move, one rash decision. And they would have to learn to deal with the new found world.

In just one moment, with just one phrase, things would change.

“Hey! Stop it!”

Foreword

Hi there!

I really like these school AUs, and I know this sort of story is a bit of a cliché, but when the idea came to my head I got really excited about it!

It’ll touch lightly on the bullying theme, but it’ll be more about the ‘popular kid’ and the ‘invisible kid’ learning to co-exist, and do things differently, because a sudden event forces them to. I hope it’ll come out as interesting as I’m imagining in my brain :D and I hope you enjoy it!

Inspired by this and this. (Careful! These links contain spoilers from early on in the story.)

To be started during 2016.
