Foreword

"Namjoon, you badly seasoned chicken fillet!" I shouted, kicking him without peeling my eyes from the screen.

"What kind of insult is that?" Jin laughed as he watched Yoongi and I battle for first place.

I ignored him and focused on the game. There was no way I was letting Yoongi of all people beat my winning streak just because Namjoon sent a blue shell after me. It was a tense game with an odd silence hanging over us which we only broke to shout insults at the screen. Luckily, at the last moment Yoongi was knocked off the track and sent into oblivion as I pulled in first to cross the finish line.

"Hell yeah," I shouted, standing up and doing a victory dance.

"One of these days, I will beat you," Yoongi warned, though there was laughter in his eyes.

"I'd like to see you try," I teased before walking away to get water from the kitchen.

As I poured myself a glass of water, I heard someone else pad in on quiet feet. When I turned around, I found Namjoon standing by the fridge.

"You're pretty good at insults." He smirked. "Things got quite heated back there with the blue shell."

"Namjoon, there is no friendship in Mario Kart," I said with false severity before giggling.

"But there is friendship between us IRL, right?" Namjoon cocked his head to the side curiously.

"Definitely." I nodded, giving him a strange look. Had I done something to make him doubt that.

"Good," he said with a slight nod, averting his eyes awkwardly.

"Namjoon, is something up?" I asked, moving so I was standing just in front of him.

"Uhm, well." He straightened and looked over his shoulder away from me. "Do you maybe want to go on a date with me?"
