Study You

Description

After one failed relationship Kibum decides that he isn't a relationship person. For as long as he can remember he's been neglecting his studies, so coming out of a relationship gives him the perfect opportunity to focus on his goals.

Ever carefree and enthusiastic, Jonghyun goes about his day to day business fairly pleasantly. By day he attends classes, by night he practices his new found affection with his musical composition, and any time between that he spends trying to set up his friend with as many cute girls as possible. But that leaves him thinking: when will he snatch up a cutie?

Said friend, Onew, is far from interested in girls. He'd much rather be set up with the kid who always catches his attention; Taemin. But Taemin has a Pet dog who likes to bite whenever he gets close. Minho will attack if anyone hurts his friend, and Onew, being slightly smaller than the freakishly long boy, isn't willing to risk that. He needs a plan.

Foreword

"You look sad."

Jonghyun was standing by the door, a coffee cup in hand. He'd asked Minho earlier about Key's schedule. Although they hadn't seen each other for a week, Jonghyun needed to gather his thoughts before he saw him again. And now that he was here he really couldn't just run away and go into hiding again.

Kibum was surprised to see Jonghyun standing there, it was the only explanation as to why his heart had picked up pace. He didn't answer him though, instead opting to pick at the stray strands on his torn jeans.

Realizing that he probably wasn't going to get a response anytime soon, Jonghyun moved to sit in the empty chair beside him, pushing the cup towards Kibum with a gentle smile. "You must be tired."

His eyes flickered up to look at Jonghyun's, warm and safe and secure. Kibum could tell that he was a generally good person. It made sense that he should befriend him. But then his eyes flickered down to his lips, and he swallowed down the lump in his throat. The heat in his face and the way he struggled to tear his eyes away was a sure tell sign that befriending him wasn't all that he wanted to do. Kibum would ignore those thoughts though. He needed to ignore them.

"Sorry," he smiled, deep breath's enabling him to gather his composure. He didn't look at Jonghyun's eyes this time, instead choosing to focus on the hand that held out the coffee to him. "I don't drink coffee."

And he really didn't. Kibum didn't like coffee, at least not anymore. Just the smell brought up memories of the countless arguments they would have about their relationship. He wasn't bitter about it all ending, because it was originally what he had wanted for awhile, but he really wanted to forget any memories associated with her - that included coffee.

The hand that was offering the beverage slowly retreated, a sheepish smile flashing his way as Jonghyun coughed awkwardly. Sitting beside him was making Kibum feel weird and nervous, and without offering another word he picked up his bag and stood, shouldering the heavy contents. He moved around the table and headed to the door, turning slightly so he could face the other. Jonghyun was watching him carefully.

"But I drink tea, or at least hot chocolate." Because Kibum didn't want to be mean to such a kind and gentle person. And seeing the others' smile widen at his own words felt like an accomplishment to him. It eased the tension in his shoulders. He could only offer a small smile back as he exited the room.

When the door finally closed behind him he let go of the breath he didn't know he was holding, resting his head against the wall beside the door in defeat. His stupid heart was beating way too fast to be normal. It felt like it was going to burst out of his chest at any moment. Memories of this dream flashed through his mind, a rather inappropriate time, Kibum cursed, and he clenched his fists as he blushed.

What was happening to him?

Chapter 2: Hey ^^
I really like college aus and also the way you wrire Jonghyun as a small, cute puppy and not as a player like many others do. *^*
You also asked for (constructive) critic and so that's what I'll try to give you.
I think you should alternate more between long and short sentences. The way I see it, you mostly use longer sentences that, at some points, make it harder to follow the flow and different events of your story. Try to include short sentences as well as they also make it more interesting for others to read your story. ^^
About this chapter, maybe you could have taken more time to describe what happened when they were eating together? Kibum wanted to get to know Jonghyun so you could have said how he asked him lots of question while still trying not to seem weird or maybe Jinki or Minho told embarrassing stories about them since they'be known each other for a long time.
I alove noticed how you said "the 5 of them" and I would advise you to stop doing that as it seems rather... unprofessional and like you just quickly scribbled this down. For "shorter" numbers, its more common to write down the actual word (five, seven, twelve). :3
Yeah, I guess that was it and I'm sorry if any of this offended you but you said that you wanted others to give you some tips or critic and that's what I did.
Have a nice day and update soon~~ ^-^<3

Chapter 1: I like your story so far, it seems promising!
I don't understand the A/N tho? Like - you have made a college au, and put them into that? Right? So what do you mean you're not writing them as 'shinee band'? ^_^
This is just me being confused and not understanding , but yeah. c:
