Four seperate journeys spanning two different lifetimes; "Berating Fate" is a story of fighting against destiny and choosing our own paths, because sometimes, our decisions are what matter most. 

Kim Jongin is about to become the richest man in the world. He is a mad scientist who has discovered time travel, and is just about ready to give his ideas away to world leaders. After Wu Yifan persuades him to time travel for himself first, he embarks 1000 years into the future and is shocked by what he sees. Technology has been lost. There are no electronics, no modern medicine, no cars, no trains, and no airplanes. It is here that Jongin has to make a decision: will he introduce the secrets of the past and become a God in the eyes of men, or will he relish in the simplicity of new life and enjoy the lack of modern marvels?

Alongside Jongin, Yifan, is obsessed with science. He does not believe in the dead, and instead, helps Jongin in the lab in any way he can. One day, soon after Jongin embarks on his journey, he discovers a note on his doorstep:  "Tao" it reads, but Yifan has no idea what it means. He begins on a journey, but the more he understands, the less he comes to know. 

Meanwhile, Sehun and Luhan are engaged to be married. However, on the night of Sehun's proposal, he collapses. It is later discovered that Sehun is suffering from a brain tumor, and it is unlikely that he will survive. Luhan takes it upon himself to drive across seveal countries to find the only doctor who can heal him, but the journey becomes less promising the closer they get to victory. 

1000 years into the future, Byun Baekhyun has been noticing some strange happenings. His house is crowded with strangers and he doesn't know why, but he is the only one who can see them. They all argue they are alive, but part of him believes they are trapped in between earth and the other-world. It's not until his deceased boyfriend Park Chanyeol is standing in his kitchen that he fully realizes he encompasses the ability to see the dead. He leaves home with Chanyeol to seek out a witch; one who is world famous for predicting futures. Yearning to obtain answers to all his questions, he soon realizes that his questions are not so simple to answer.
