About writing non-au- I know that some people dislike it, maybe even disapprove of it, because it blurs the lines between reality and fiction. I don’t disagree completely and sometimes I find myself feeling almost guilty about what I write sometimes.

The truth is, I’m not a skilled enough writer to completely create a fictional universe in which OTPs fit. I can try, and I have, but non-au is something I find the most ease with. I accidently write some pretty non-au (and what I’ve published on AFF is by no means the worst of it) because my mind does that best and in a way it’s my own personal way of analyzing their personalities and relationships from a very, very outside perspective. And when certain scenarios come to mind and I write that story for my personal satisfaction, I want to share it with others who want to read it. (Not to mention that from a fan’s perspective Kaisoo so perfectly fits into their own world, it’s so easy and fun to write about them.)

However, I am in no way stating that my fanfiction is what actually happens or has happened between Kaisoo, Woogyu or any other idols and members. Even though many stories I write do not take place in an “alternate universe” it still kind of does, because it’s the universe I think or want to believe that they live in that has been created within my own mind. None of it is real, despite what we want to believe, because I don’t know them or what their actual lives are like and everything their lives are actually like is probably so different from what I think or write down.

Everything I write is very much fantasy, it is my own personal fantasy and it is probably many other readers’ fantasies as well. And if anything I write has even a smidgen of reality behind it, we will probably never know.
