Yongguk grew up going from private school to private school causing hell and bringing chaos wherever he went. He's a lazy kind of guy that only puts effort into things that he holds a strong passion for. His parents didn't correct him or attempt to make him fall into line but instead found that sending him off place to place was easier. Although he wasn't anything like a prodigy like some of his friends were, he was just a regular guy that slacked and barely got by. Even he, himself, knew that he held the power to be able to get far in life. He just never wanted to go the first step.

Later on he found that rapping underground was his passion. As the "manly" type, hip hop became his thing along with forms of street dancing. Being underground became his hobby and proved to be a good start of a career as well. However, Yongguk was never really able to learn the value of a dollar but he discovered that people didn't care much about using their money the right way in the places he went. He was accepted in clubs all over Seoul. There he developed a nickname for himself, "Jepp Blackman". His friends know him as Yongguk and people such as those who pay him to show up and spit some fire into a mic every once and a while just call him Jepp. Even with two names to hold himself accountable to, he only has one personality.

His parents didn't like where their son was heading and so they sent him off to America to study abroad. But without parental guidance and only a guardian that didn't care too much, he found himself getting into trouble. He stayed away from drugs but alcohol was something that he didn't mind going out for nightly. Yongguk passed high school with a high GPA despite his horrible attitude only because he decided junior year while attending a school in New York that he wanted to go to a performing arts institution to improve his skills. Once he graduated his senior year, he moved back to South Korea to follow his dream, striving to make the big bucks some other way than joining an entertainment company.

People have found that they can read his personality in a nut shell. He likes to crack jokes and doesn't take things seriously very often. With a laid back personality, he only does what he has to do when he has to do it. Returning favors to others always end up becoming tasks that don't get finished but he won't hesitate to ask someone for something. He rarely holds relationships but has a romantic kind of personality if he is into the person he's dating. Most of the time he goes for one night stands, not wanting to deal with the drama that comes with being involved with someone else too long.
