Am I the Only One that Thinks That BTS Comeback is 'Meh'?

I honestly did not care too much for BTS comeback title track "DNA." I have listened to a few other songs off the album and enjoyed them, but the title track was not that good in my opinion. It was really hyped and I had high expectations, so that could have been what ruined the song for me. These are my opinions for the song, I am still going to support BTS, so I am not letting one song put me down.

DNA wasn't my favorite either. It would probably be one of the last songs I'd choose to listen to by BTS. Out of the whole album I think my favorites were Just Dance, Dimple and Love

my first opinion about DNA is too much whistles making me want to sleep at the starter of the song :D It was good, not too great but not too bad either ... I guess its just average, and I believe BTS can do so much better than this but who can blame if they want to try a new concept?

@oppabimbap yesh gal! bst is so addictive :D

@DalthanglovesAmoy It does not really have any hook to it. Serendipity is one that I thought had a nice hook and a good flow to it.

@brithistorian I would recommend BTS No More Dreams to Dark & Wild era, these are the best time eras for BTS. To me these eras are basically the heart of BTS music if that makes any sense.

Recommendations
Coffee
Just One Day
2nd Grade

If you want a good concept group though, I would highly recommend Vixx. :3

Hearing you say this makes me feel better about my reaction. DNA was the first BTS song I'd ever heard (I'm very new to Kpop), and when I heard it I was like "What? Really? Why are so many people into this band"? Apparently it's just not one of their better songs and I should give them another shot.

@LeeChaeYoung Whistling reminds me of my dad whom I find really annoying, so it doubles up the annoying-ness of the video XD

@Oreoyumyum304 But I prefer Spring Day more...

When I watched the music video I didn't like the song. But when I played the song without the video I actually liked it. For some reason, for me, it was the music video that ruined the song. I guess I was just expecting the MV to be way more...I don't know...I just expected more...since their blood sweat and tears looked awesome. I did however, HATED the teaser. The whole whistling was just NOT attractive. I thought it was was creepy and weird -_-" But I like all their songs. BTS has never disappointed me. This album is definitely different from their past ones. It has a different feel...more Americanish I guess. Serendipity though...Jimin killed it.

Honestly I like DNA more than the other songs in the album. Even though it sometimes remind me of another boy group because of the music. But I like it even before reading the lyrics.

@JustARandom_Person Same, Serendipity blended well with Spring Day tbh

For me , overall 'DNA' was fine but the whistling at the start was already creepy and the song gave me a vibe of like American-pop instead of K-pop . The song was generally not my style at all and I felt like it was over-coloured . Maybe they could had used lesser colours but I'm still happy that Jin finally got more vocal lines . Thus , my favourite song from BTS in this year is still Spring Day...

I was a bit underwhelmed by DNA, bc I felt the prechorus and verses were building up the hype but when the chorus came, it wasn't rly that hype.
But I did listen to the rest of the album, and some of the other songs there were pretty nice. But as a whole I still prefer their older stuff :))

@lionroars To be quite honest, the song gave me of a SHINee feel, rather than a BTS song. I hope that their next comeback is better.

Yeah, I'm not too crazy about DNA. Thought the lyrics were super cheesy and there's not a single one of the songs I liked from the album. Unfortunately, it feels like they're trying to market to a bigger audience aka by producing songs that have a slight western feel, and the reason why I listen to kpop is to get away from western songs to begin with. It's a shame for me because I cpuld proudly say that BTS, following DBSK was the only other band whose songs always appealed to me, but now I question myself lol

@damnationSUruck I enjoyed their Young Forever era, but a majority of my favorite songs come from the earlier eras when things seemed more fresh. If it were not for their personalities I am sure that I would have lost interest a long time ago. I have also become more obsessed with VIXX and VIXX being the kings of concepts gives me high expectations for other groups. I did love the Wings concept, sure it was different from their roots, but they based it on a book and had given them some solid ground to work on.

@Winter92heat There is no hook in the song.

I'm actually sort of done with them. I've been disappointed with their songs since 'Fire' (since the start of 2016 onwards, really), and am surprised to see I'm not the only one losing interest. I find it hard to believe so many people go gaga over them online. Their choreography is always impressive, but their recent stuff has been too lackluster for me to even check out the choreos. Bangtan's lost significant identity along the way. I'm bummed they did because I really liked their debut concept and how they followed up with it, but yeah, all in all, I'm just not interested anymore. The lyrics, the content, the whole 'deep meanings, much feels' thing they got going in their MVs... I feel they've just about milked these things.
Waiting to see if they'll pull off a throwback to that era. But so far, the only recent throwback I know is the track 'Baepsae'.

don't get angry with me. i just want to be honest....i try to like or stan bts, so just now i listened to their mv, but ending up, i know if i said i like it, i was not honest to myself.. the mv is for fine, their fashion in this mv also good as well as each member's visual also stand out....but still there is something lacking.. the music itself.. dna is not that catchy, it doesn't attract my attention at one go. sorry, may b next time?

@istj I think so too :/

I listened to the song with and without the mv a few times and i am not feeling it as well... to me, its a downgrade from not today and spring day. i'm actually too lazy to listen to the rest of the songs as well... maybe i'll listen to dna again after typing this~~

@Alex-su I love BTS, but I feel like this was not their strongest comeback. Yes the music is for my age group, but I am an old soul and I enjoy music from Queen and David Bowie so it was not as enjoyable for me, but "DNA" was pure pop, and I am not that big of a pop fan.

I thought I was the only one that thought this thank the Lord. I can't relate to the stuff they put out anymore; like in the beginning it was all struggle but now it's about youth and loving yourself. While that works for a younger audience, I'm getting too old and can't get into it. The last song of theirs I enjoyed was Not Today and that's more so because of the trap instrumental. It's really refreshing seeing someone else not liking their content because 98% of my social media is OMG BTS THEY ARE THE BEST AND CAN DO NO WRONG FHDKSKSNDK spazzing.

@Uunbiiyan It gave me a headache and the color theme was blah, they looked good, it's just that the concept does not really suite them well.

@Oreoyumyum304 Yeah that part made me cringe, I almost couldn't get through it. It just physically hurt to watch.

@Uunbiiyan And the angles they were doing at the beginning plus the whistling drove me up the wall. The sudden change in style nearly gave me whiplash.

@Oreoyumyum304 Omg I agree about the whistling. When I played the MV and first heard it I was like "what are you doing??". I liked the idea that they were experimenting with different music styles but I think I'm over that now lol.
