Updating and writer's block are a big struggle for me. I have all these ideas in my head and how I want it to go and then in seconds I'm trying to figure out what to write next.

I struggle to put my thoughts into words, I listed out what'll happen in the story but couldn't express them well in a proper sentence. I keep on overthinking what should I write, hence, major procrastination. Vocabulary & describing something like places, atmosphere and appearance is a torture to me. In some cases, I also keep on changing what would be happening in the scene, what I typed in the story is completely different from what I was planning. The fanfics that I wrote are mostly based on "daily life situation" (no murder, no fantasy) but even though it is based on real life situation there'd be prolly some plotholes nonsense, overdramatic whatnot that I just leave it as they are. My other weakness is probably everything lol. My only strength is writing day-to-day dialogue and text messages, I guess.

I know what to write and what will happen. But as soon as I sit down on the chair in front of my laptop, everything disappear. Idk how to start the story and its frustrating.

@strawberryspoon Sometimes taking a break from the story you are writing can help. You stop writing it for some time and then go back to it with a fresh mind. Like that it's easier to spot what's "wrong" with the plot and story in general.

Having a beta reader probably can help too. Someone that would read the story and straightforwardly tell you what confuses them, what they think you should change and, most importantly, someone would make you look at things from a different prospective.

@KYX1994 thank you for sharing with me the link!! what an amazing idea, i hope your prompts have sparked a lot of people's imaginations! :> my struggles are like yours and i get bored with my ideas easily and so maybe i should do the same...? :') i rlly like writing...simply writing. i like telling a story and all that but what i like the most is just sitting down, playing around with words and letting them flow onto the page and create something. however people expect more than that T^T and as a writer, i definitely struggle with plot. i don't feel like it's good enough and i lose interest bc my attention span is so short...but i'm working on it!! my biggest strength is my writing style!

@KYX1994 Oh sure, that would be amazing. I'd be interested to see how someone else writes them out as well! :)

Aside from procrastination, I need to make my plots absolutely waterproof. They need to be logical, I can't stand knowing I simply arranged them that way, it has to make sense. And if I have no idea how to create that, I will probably procrastinate until the end of time. It probably goes with me being a hell of a perfectionist...

I'm not sure about my strengths but it definitily has to be my starting and concluding chapters (prologues/ epilogues) here comes my 'weaknesses' part T^T I genuinely at describing my story and details(as in how the surroundings are, the facial expressions... If I need to express how beautiful a character was I'd say 'she was beautiful' or something and that kills expectations then and there) although most people think my works are commendable lol... They must all be either lazy to write or are just generous with their feedbacks.

Usually once I get an opening, the rest of the story flows smoothly for the most part. I'm always stumped though when it comes to titles and the description of the story.

Fillers, lol. I mean I can think of where I should start and where I should finish, it's just a matter of /how/ I'm gonna get there. Sometimes I just cut scenes and jump transitions because I'm so bad at thinking of fillers that I just don't do it at all. That's also the reason why I haven't written anything longer than ten chapters lol. Although I don't think it's because I'm super lazy—when it comes to writing, especially when I'm in the zone, nothing can stop me from doing it (although realistically my mom always gets in the way because I think she hates my passion for writing, thinking I'm always badmouthing her over it—ok, back to the point). It's probably just because I don't have that many experience to choose or to get ideas from. I barely go outside and experience the world for myself so I guess that's where I'm lacking, especially having conversations with other people and listening to their stories, which could be essential when you wanna be believable, because one's own experience wouldn't always be enough, hell, there are billions of people in the world and of course there are billions of stories you haven't heard yet, or might want to hear about. A persona in a story should think like that too, imo.

@soosfaerie OMG! I totally feel you! I opened a Prompt Shop to give my ideas the opportunity to live by the words of someone else!

If you'd like to share some ideas of yours as prompts I can send you the link ;)

The thing that posses me off the most is that I get endless ideas, every day. But those ideas consist of a few great flashes and scenes and then I decide to start a story out of it.
However, those scenes are like 5% of the story and I kill myself while trying to come up with the rest and connect all the dots. Sometimes I'm lazy to do that.

Most of the stories started like that ended up being deleted T.T

I think my biggest issue is I burn myself out. I'll write chapter after chapter, sometimes posting multiple chapters a week without taking a break.... then I have no muse for a while

I mean, one of my weaknesses is definitely procrastination and updating. If that can even be considered a "writing" weakness, I'm just lazy and find it difficult to write even though I love it. Anyway, other than that, I often think I "struggle" with a plot. It's not that I don't have a plot, it's that they're usually very ... hidden. And that often they are not very big. There isn't that point of no return and there isn't a visible . Everything is very mundane, very everyday and you'd have to think a lot to put my stories into one of those "analyzing models" that are so often used because ... well, nothing sticks out as a . They feel very ...... mmmh, flat? There's not that rush of things. I like writing things that way, but I still consider it a weakness.
And as a strength, I really think (and hope) that it's my characterization, even though people have been complaining about that too. In that case, though, I like to think it's because they're looking for some trait that is very strong and can categorize my characters and that doesn't exist as I kind of work from the basic idea that humans are complex and as such can have contradictory traits. (That be said, there is most definitely people out there who would consider this a weakness as well, but ... whatever).

Writing fluff. Not killing characters.

Half-jokes aside, everything, actually. Pffft. Sometimes, of course, certain aspects are more bothersome than others, but usually I second-guess everything I write and how I write it. I'm also like lunastarlight below, hahahaha. I have an Idea Dump currently 42.000 words long, 132 pages. Yaaay, ideas...

I struggle with the consistency of my work and writing consistently. With school it's hard to find time to write but also get creativly inspired to (I find that school has drained a lot of my creative energy ). I invision a lot of things to happen with my stories though so once I do get writing I write a lot and sometimes it's hard to put it all to words, honestly hahaha

I don't know if this can be considered an actual problem, but I get inspiration for so many ideas at once it's hard to settle on something and focus on it until it's done. I have like 12 unfinished fics going on (none of them posted thankfully so they don't sit there forever without updates) but my inspiration just carries me around lol

I struggle the most with making my ideas bloom. I've tons of them but more often than not I can't go past the inspiration fase. That's why I opened a prompt shop: I hope someone else would be able to give my ideas the story they deserve.
