Am I the only one who is unsure?

Hi everyone!

So I have written plenty of random fanfics/fictional stories that have never been finished or shared publicly. However this time I really do want to write a full fictional story that will be completed and loaded. Am I the only one who is unsure about how well this will go? I love writing stories, but I also don't follow idols extremely well (even my favorite group BTS, I don't follow so well) so I tend to write stories based off complete fictional characters. I usually enjoy allowing my readers to be the characters instead. What do you all think about stories like that? Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

I just posted my first story here not too long ago called "The Curse of the Phoenix Beads" if anyone is interested. If you search 'the curse' it'll come up.

Thank you everyone for giving me your input. I would like to share my story here so I will, for the interest of my audience, pick an idol to be my main male lead. I appreciate all the responses. =)

@hopelesswriter @hopelesswriter I didn't say they can't post it here^^ I was saying that since that isn't what most people use this website for, then they'll probably find more success on another website where that is the main goal. They can even put the story on multiple websites if they want to :)

like what others said...if your goal is to get response, and lots of them...writing kpop idols is your best bet(well, not necessarily kpop, since this is asianfanfics, but most treat this as kpop site for whatever reason), if you just want to share your writings n don't mind about how many readers you get, i say just go with what you want n make yourself comfortable. i've seen fics using completely original characters in this site, i even write some...and those fics still manage to get readers, although the number of readers/comments is smaller than fics with popular celebs...but since i usually write unpopular celebs anyway,....it makes no difference...good luck~

@omgith i have to barge in and disagree on this. it's asianfanfics and described as anything Asian or something(i honestly forgot the tagline but sth like that)...so as long as either it has Asian character/setting, i'd say it qualifies...besides...it's not exactly asiancelebritiesfanfics or even kpopidolfanfics...you can be a fan of original character who's an Asian, and it's still valid to be an asian fanfic. even if not, i don't feel the need to restrict. although i'll admit choosing to write oc/unknown characters will result in less/no success here, it's still not wrong to be posted here, methinks.

I think that you should go for it! Write, post and do it for yourself :)) Don't worry about the response (eventhough i low key do ><)
Everyone has to start somewhere. And this would be the first step to that :) If it does fail (I sure hope it won't), at least you could say "Well, at least I tried"
Enjoy yourself in the process, don't lose hope. do it for you :)

hmmm, i think as sunflowerpots mentioned, idol fics gets more views and stuff. I think its really awesome to have the imagination to come up with completely fictional characters :DD

I'd start there, and then I would try to fit the character in my head to an idol's name HAHA>< and like @sunflowerpots mentioned, I'd just describe their features and all, but their personalities are slightly different from what we would always see online and stuff. there's no right or wrong or steps in writing on AFF, just do what you think feels right :D

Well, what you are describing is original fiction. AsianFanFics is for fan fiction. If you have original fiction, you'll find more success posting it on a website for original fiction stories. Try Wattpad, Livejournal, or Fictionpress.

It's cool to have your own characters made up, but here on AFF, popularity wise, if you're aiming for more readers to read your story, I recommend using kpop idols as characters. You don't really have to follow the idols that much, you just have to be able to describe their physical features well and make them into your own characters with the traits you want them to have. Though appearance-wise, their given traits should somehow match their physical appearance in one way or another.
