Hello! I just recently made an account on here, but I feel like there is a lot I'm still missing out on. If anybody is nice enough to help show me around this place and explain things, that would be fantastic!
omgomgomgomg so when i started it was default green theme. I feel like its so much easier to get around and shhhhhh. ok if you wanna try it out, just go to the main screen/page and go to the little thing that says "Blue Theme" and click old theme instead and its beautiful. idk if you'll feel the same but its worth the try! :) make sure you click old and not green!
Hello! Welcome to AFF! I think one of the things I wondered about the most when I first joined was 'what on earth are applyfics' (I'm still a little confused lmao). But adding on to what's already been said about making friends - I think commenting on people's discussions and blogs are good ways to interact with people and get yourself a little more involved in the community. Writing a discussion about wanting friends works too! Is there anything else in particular that you want to know?
One thing that recently has changed around here is the 'stories only' button on the main page. When you have this , only updates for stories will show up, so no roleplays or graphic shops. But if you have your own graphic shop, or if you subscribed to one and you have the button on the main page , those will also disappear from your pages. I've seen a lot of people being confused about it so I thought I'd warn you just in case ;)
@unqua911 Ahh, thank you, thank you. I'm also have a terrible time understanding how to use a layout on a story, no matter how many times I read how to use one! Haha, I feel like I've been hiding under a rock.

It explains karma and several other things in terms of actual site mechanics. As for friends, you sort of build those up as you interact with community members. I made my friends through my stories so commenting on stories you enjoy is a good place to start. There really wasn't anything specific I wanted to know when I first joined, but my best friend is also a member here so I already sort of knew how things worked ^^'' Sorry if I'm not being super helpful, I'm part of a pretty small sub-section of the community so most of my knowledge is limited to that xD
@unqua911 I guess how do you get karma points, and how do some people get friends on here? When you first started out on here, was there anything you wished somebody told you about this site?
