Have you ever.....?

Have you ever had a similar comment like this: "Such a rubbish story....it's better if you don't write it all"

What was your response?

Here's my answer because this happened to me when I first got on here.

Well I am not getting paid to write this, I am sorry for writing this because I want to waste all my waking hours writing something just for the enjoyment of others.

@zan8901 I honestly do not care what people think of me, I have been called other things such as a b*tch. The only person who's opinion matters most to me is myself. People who write hateful comments over the internet are insecure low lives, you wouldn't be saying that if we were face to face. I am the kind of person who doesn't like to waste my time with low lives. Their comment didn't stop me from writing, it is my passion and my escape. If I don't like something I'll try to tell people what I would do instead and I will also compliment what I do like best about the story because it's the polite thing to do and I would accept others to do the same thing for me in return, because it is a thing called "respect". Markiplier said something along the lines of people not having respect for others these days, and I totally agree with that statement. Some people just don't understand what some people are going through and they are just trying to take out their insecurities on others.

@mirrue This is how I would respond. (It made me laugh lol) If people attack me like that, then you best believe I'm not gonna hesitate to be an a*shole back. Those types of comments are really unnecessary, and the people saying them deserve a smack - more like punch - in the face.

I don't understand why people have to talk crap like that. Do they find pleasure in trying to ruin someone's day? Does it make them giggle as they hide behind their screens? They're little a*sholes, hiding behind their anonymity. Your response is gold, and you handled it so much better than I ever would. I would explode if I had received that message. Seriously. I get so worked up when people just attack others without a hint of constructive criticism, just to be haters. We writers write for ourselves, not for lil b*tches who probably can't write for sh*t.

@Darthearts Not being arrogant or anything, but my grammar was way better than theirs.

Wow, kids can be mean sometimes. Some people are just ignorant and spoiled. Because of the high number of authors on this site, fabrics are easily accessible so they think they can demand whatever from an author without considering that the author is actually a human being.

@Oreoyumyum304 thats common here too! my teacher would always complain if we use the wrong tense when writing he even set some ground rules when it comes to writing practices in class and the number rule is to always write in past tense

@Laymontae Teachers where I live will get on you for every little mistake, I had a teacher mark me down because I used the wrong tense when writing.

@Laymontae I have a lot of practice over the years by reading and writing in my native language. I have also had countless lessons on proper grammar till it was engraved into my brain. Learning the different rules took a long time and I still do not do it properly.

@Laymontae In my English 1-2 class we are just reading Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet. The last prompt we had was "What's in a name?" meaning "Do Names really matter?" I had ten minutes to write ten sentences. But before that we had to look at a picture and write from a person's point of view in the painting "Queen Elizabeth Viewing the Performance of 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' at the Globe Theatre" by David Scott

It was really interesting thing, it gave me some ideas to look at classical art work and write from the point of view of someone in the painting.

@Oreoyumyum304 Ahhh I see I see~ My only chance to write is during my English lessons lmaoooo. I'd say that's my only "time to shine" XD

@Laymontae I'm from the United States, so writing is a big deal, no joke. For one of them I originally submitted the story for a grade, and it got submitted for young authors and I ended up winning best of school. I honestly just write because I find it entertaining, even if I am not that good at it.

oh my god i feel like hunting that person down if i were to ever receive such a comment! That's just so rude though :/ i get it you hate the story but then again that doesn't mean you have to tell the writer about it? Does that person not know how hard it is to think of an idea then actually write it out and possibly spend HOURS or even DAYS trying to finish just one chapter?

im sorry that you have to deal with it though :( but tbh i'd probs just ignore it but roast it on social media LMAO

i think it'd be better if we just don't reply, but sometimes replying a savage comment made us feel better after the negativity. so yeah, you did well there hahaha

No, I haven't. But I think my response would've been something like "Okay."
Simply not worth the time defending myself.

It's happened to me once or twice but everytime I always down vote the comment and tell them tha I write for myself and that if they Dont enjoy it, they don't have to read it

It's happened to me once, although it was on an artwork of mine. It was during a period where I was making drastic changes to my art, and my proportions were taking a bit of a kick in the process, so it may have looked odd. Nonetheless, the comment was something along the lines of them very bluntly stating that the guy I drew was 'ugly' and then they stated they'd be unwatching me in the very same comment.
I had responded both politely and directly that I'm glad they decided to unwatch, considering I didn't need such people to view my art. It was later discovered though that the account was hacked. XD Which made a lot of sense because the actual user used to be a nice person, haha.

You did respond appropriately, though. You'll get all kinds of people viewing your work online, but don't let these kinds of things get you down. Rather, let them motivate you to defy their words. To rise above all.

i haven't received such a comment and i hope that i never do.
but that's such a mean thing to say honestly.

if it was me, i honestly would tell them that i don't write for their enjoyment, but for my own and who i write for. i have my own specific audience and if you don't like it, there are many other stories you can go enjoy.

also i would mention why say such mean things in the first place when you don't have nice things to say as you can clearly exit out of my stories and click on another one.

it does irk me when people say such things because writing is for everyone. although some are better at it than others, it doesn't mean no one can write something if they want to.

I ask them what they hate about it. If it's about the plot (a hole or inconsistency or smth), I reconsider and review my story. If it's abt the grammar, I go back and review again. But I defend my story if there's nothing wrong with it. If they just have nothing to do, then I delete their comment all the while killing them inside my mind

oops.

Hahahaha because my page will never be a place for hate ya know. I accept criticism but hate is a different matter. Especially mindless ones.

I'm glad I haven't received such comment. That is such a rude and ignorant comment. The commenter clearly doesn't know the things writers go through to write a story. If someone says that to me, I'd probably reply with something like this:

"Let me check my bag of fck to give to you. Oh wait, it doesn't exist! Get a life."

I won't hesitate to go to a harsher level if one can be that insulting. -_-

@marquis They waste their lives writing pointless hate comments. People need to get off the high horse and realize that no one is perfect.
