According to her, everyone likes 'likes' me

This isn't really a rant, more like an observation and wondering 'How did you come up with that?'

So like my friend Mel.... she's pretty good when it comes to observing people but like.. uh, okay I can't English properly at the moment so I'll just give you some examples.

We're at this Japanese supermarket at Little Tokyo and the cashier is a dude (possibly in his early to mid 20s) and while we're walking out of earshot Mel says, "He likes you."
Me: "What? Who?"
Mel: "The cashier dude."
Me: "Uhhhhhh, okaaaaay?"
Mel: "He kept staring at you."
Uhm, I guess every cashier that keeps staring at me likes me ._.

We're at Santa Monica beach with our other friends and there's this tourist guy who asks me where something is. I tell him the directions but I can see from my peripheral vision Mel giving me the 'look'; the look that a dude is flirting with one of us.
When the tourist leaves, Mel: "He likes you."
Me: "What?"
Mel: "He kept staring at you."
Sooooooo~~~ that means every time I got lost in Thailand and I kept staring at the person I was asking, that meant I liked them? ._.

At the mall while I'm taking selcas (don't judge lol), Mel: "That guy kept staring at you."
Eevee (one of our other friends): "Well no duh dude, she's like taking a selfie while walking."
Mel: "No but like, he was smiling too. Like that smile a boyfriend gives to a girlfriend when she's being cute without knowing it."
Me & Eevee give each other the 'What' look.

LOL idk, it's just something I've picked up. There were times when a guy was being obvious when he was flirting, but other times.... I don't think Mel knows the difference between flirting and being genuinely nice. I admit I used to have that problem, but I learned the really hard (and embarrassing) way that not every guy (or girl, whatever floats chur boat) you talk to will like you in that way. Just stop thinking about it all together.

**You wouldn't like it if you were being nice to a dude and he took it the wrong way (then again, I feel like this happens to a lot of girls)
