2014 Crisis

I didn't speak too much about my opinions on SM's case(s) - or any of the Kpop scandals/ problems - so now I will.

October 11th, 2014

What I think:

It's just a bad year... For everyone okay? There's too much change and doubt all of a sudden and that's getting to us all. Too many accidents. Too many biased debates. And far to many criticisms from society. Can we please just move on though? Let's accept the changes and adapt to them... Support your sides, forgive the rest. These are just opinions.

It started with Overdose leak:

Having something you worked so hard on leaked is annoying, angering even. It feels like sabotage, like someone poured cold water on a painting you've spent days - maybe even weeks - on. It also feels like a spoiled surprise party - to fans that is. But to the idols - to EXO - it might have felt like planning a surprise birthday party, and working so hard to be prepared for the day, but someone spoils it. A birthday party can only be held on that one day... I'd feel frustrated, betrayed, and upset that my wonder plan has been ruined. I'm sure EXO felt like that in a way.

Then EXO Kris's lawsuit:

It feels like 2009 all over again with TVXQ's Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu and Super Junior's Hangeng.

I could only think to say goodbye and good luck to Kris. I support him a lot so when I read anti-Kris comments on social networks and media, I got so annoyed - at SM even. I didn't feel like it was all the company's fault. But more over, I just supported Kris; it was his decision to leave after all.

And to those who calls and called Kris a "traitor", what stopped you when you thought of leaving your parent's home for your dreams, jobs, or goals?

F(x) Sulli's hiatus and F(x)'s Red Light promotions:

First I want to point out that Sulli is on hiatus. Why? Because too many people thinks she's kicked out. If she was, Sulli would've had a case like SNSD's Jessica. Everyone would know. The media would make sure that we'd know.

I think SM's decision about Sulli's hiatus is a very reasonable thing to do at that point. With so much talk about Sulli's health condition - lie (as some anti-fans think) or no lie - the best decision ever made was to let Sulli lay low. But as that decision, in my opinion, was reasonable, I thought the opposite about SM cutting off the rest of F(x)'s Red Light promotions. They were already doing so much without Sulli; let them finish. But because of the promotions being suddenly cut off, more anti-fans blame Sulli. She's a lazy idol, I've heard to often. There I disagree. As an idol, there's no way for you to be lazy.

Amidst fans and anti-fans' complaints, SM decided to bring a distraction into the picture (a sign of them protecting Sulli's and F(x)'s image): Red Velvet. I didn't think this was too good of an idea either... because fans took it as SM tossing F(x) to the side and burying the case at hand.

Ladies Code tragedy:

I cried. I cried a lot. Hearing the news, I immediately hoped for everyone's safety and recovery. Sadly, EunB left us early. Then Rise followed. Some even said it was a good thing that she followed after EunB - Rise wouldn't have to hear the news of losing her close friend. I cannot even imagine how Rise would feel or react if she heard about EunB's death. I still hope the rest recovers from their injuries, but it scares me a lot when I hear and read about Ladies Code never being the same. I know - I think we all know.

Big Bang Seungri's accident:

Another auto accident... The day after I found out about Seungri's accident, my friend told me something that scared me a lot. There's a saying that goes: Good people go in fours. EunB, Rise... Seungri - who else? That was what I had thought. I got chills and goosebumps along with my thoughts. I couldn't imagine Kpop nor Big Bang without Seungri. I hoped for his safety. I hoped to prove that saying wrong. I hoped a lot.

When I watched the clip and pictures of Seungri's accident, YG's assurance about Seungri's state wavered away. I almost cried with relief when I heard Seungri was discharged form the hospital. I hope no more accidents occur this year.

SNSD Jessica's leave:

Maybe SM shouldn't have kicked her out of SNSD. At least not then. I'm not against Jessica and nor am I for SM, I just think that SM shouldn't have done it this year. A lot of fandoms and fans in general were roused by all of the occurances this year. As for Jessica's leave, I think too many people blame SM too. I'm sad about Jessica's leave; honestly, I didn't ever think such thing would happen to SNSD, but I don't think you can put all blame on SM - or even the other 8 members. In life, there's always a cause and effect. SM told Jessica that she had to cancel her fashion label, that she was focusing too much on it - she even talked about leaving SNSD to focus on Blanc & Eclare. I see that as giving Jessica the choice - SNSD or Blanc & Eclare. She didn't - couldn't because of her contract with Blanc & Eclare - choose. Therefore SM moved up her departure date.

As for the rest of SNSD, I can't even understand how anyone can say "they were sisters, some sisters they turned out to be" or anything along those lines. Did the 8 members have a say in this case? Jessica already had plans of leaving SNSD, first off. Second, SM made the decision. I really wish we can all just support Jessica and the rest. The 8 girls cried for her during their stage. Can't you see that both parties had a loss in this? Even SM, their stocks dropped lots. No one logical kicks out a member so popular for no reason. There's a cause and an effect.

Then there's fans who stands on SM and SNSD's side, with thoughts of Jessica as a traitor. Please. You leave your parents when you grow up. They leave you when they go. Do you call that betrayal? She wants to move forward in life; she got her own fashion label now, support her! How would you feel if people called you a traitor for succeeding?

So, please, no more "I hate Jessica"s or "SNSD are bad sisters"s or even " SM"s. Just support them. How'd you feel if someone blames you for letting someone walk out of you life for their own happiness? You have to move on too, don't you?

Departure of Sooman's wife and karma:

Who deserves the karma? Who? Do you actually know? Was it really Sooman's choice about Jessica's leave? Was it Sooman's wife who decided Jessica should leave? I think the answer to all or most of the questions I just asked is "no". So why do people call it "karma" when his wife died? Someone passed away. I'm sure he's already having a tough time. If you call it karma, I think he's already taken more than enough; cursing him would be unnecessary. He doesn't need hatred to top his sadness.

Could you have no conscience? This is a person's life that you are calling karma. Is that even comparable to even an idol's job? As much as I love an idol - as much as I loved Kris when EXO was 12, or when SNSD was 9 - I don't think I can ever call it karma when Sooman lost his wife. Did he deserve a dead wife because our idols lost their job? Did he deserve that because we want our idols happy? Actually, I don't think they'll be happy if they stayed with SM. Because, I think in both - Kris's and Jessica's - cases, they decided to leave. They did. It was in their mind before it actually happened.

It's sad. It's like losing a friend/ family member/ lover/ whatever/ whomever and get dissed by people you've pissed off. In reality, you'd never expect that. You'd expect people to feel sorry and sympathy for you. They might even mourn for you - with you. So why does he deserve any less? Respect him, please. Even Jessica - a few days after she found out through media that she was kicked out of SNSD - paid her respects to Sooman's wife.

EXO Luhan's lawsuit:

My opinions on Luhan's case is the same as I felt about Kris's. There's nothing I, nor you, nor we can do to change it. I think SM has surrendered to the lawsuits too. They didn't even bother to argue about the case anymore.

And again, don't put SM down because of this. If we look at the case about Kris and the cases in 2009, it is indeed the same case. Don't you think it's a bit over used? Maybe, SM is right about someone pulling strings. Our idols are not as innocent as we think. They built an image to hide their past and that image is all we know of them. I'm not saying Luhan's a liar either because in my opinion, he's still young (though he's really older than me by years) and young people makes mistakes; they make their biased choices, myself included. If he choose to leave SM, that might be a mistake or blessing in the future when he thinks back about it.

Hopefully, it'll be a blessing. I'm even hoping the remaining two Chinese members in EXO-M leaves too and form their own group, with Kris as well, in China like a rumor stated. If SM is so bad, I'm glad they left. I think you should too, be happy rather than pissed, angered or defensive. So, what's the point of calling SM names and putting the company down? They lost something big when Luhan stepped foot out of SM. What is a company first of all? What's the purpose of SM? Money and musical entertainment. With Luhan's leave, they lost both - money and musical entertainment. They lost a large part of their purpose. That's enough, isn't it? Purpose is expensive, after all.

Final thoughts:

It has been a bad year. I'm sure many of us can agree; some even more than the rest. Is it too early for me to say I've experienced the worst year? It's October now.. Is it too early for me to say I've seen the worst this year? I hope so... I don't think I can take anymore. Aside from the Kpop world, I have my own world to fight in. I'm sure many of us do.

Tao's scandal:

Let him live his life. He's a grown man, isn't he? And last I've checked, we - as fans - don't own him.

MBLAQ's break-up:

I guess I really did spoke too early huh? I just want to put in, Thunder was my bias and Mir was close behind. This break-up is just as painful as any other break-up listed above and it hurts to see so many idols falling and breaking down.

But as Heechul recently said to Taeyeon: "Don't look at the internet and don't listen to people whose faces you don't know. People whom you can see like this (face to face) put their name on the line when they talk to you. However, other people... (gestures to typing on computer) - Don't be in pain, anymore."

I hope all of our idols stays strong and go after everything and whatever they want. Don't let little things break you.

I agree with you. 2014 has been a terrible year for Kpop.
I hope, though, that the TRUE fans won't leave behind the groups they've supported just because they can't deal with all the bull.
They all need us now... Especially during hard times like this. <3
Kpop helped me so much, I just don't know how to help other than staying by their side.
