Just some of the stuff one may or may not be interested about Bon Voyage. You don't really have to read this. Except for the TaoRis bit.

1 - Bon Voyage is sort of a true story

Sort of! People have been asking me where I got the idea for this. Aside from wanting a very cliched slice of life love story with a Junjou Romantica type of feel, Bon Voyage is what happened to me on my first cruise.

I didn't get to have ALL that good stuff though (and by good stuff, you know what I mean). I was like Sehun during the first few chapters. I won't go into detail what exactly happened but let's just say it involved a lot of motion sickness and then having it cured from being starstrucked by a staff on the cruise because she was so pretty and she looked a lot like Luhan so I was distracted from wanting to throw up. She was Chinese and obviously her Chinese was perfect because she would translate the English instructions but God her Chinese was so beautiful. I kept seeing her everywhere and I had this insane girl crush on her that it took me the last day to approach her and ask if I could take a picture with her. Only it irked me that I couldn't find her the moment I decided to actually do something about this girl crush thing and I really chased after her on our last night just so I can take a picture with her. I remembered when I asked, taking out my celphone camera, she looked taken aback, like 'you want to take a picture with me?' and I remembered nodding dumbly. But she said yes and we took a pic together \O/.

And after that when I left she stopped me and she asked how old I was. I gave her my age and then she kind of invited me to an adult show that's happening up on the theater. Not that she was one of the performers. She was just promoting the adult show around. That's why Luhan in BV is part of an adult show because she gave me the idea for it.

And that is how Bon Voyage started. Because of my girl crush over a Luhan lookalike and I was Sehun chasing after her.

2 - Not everything that happens on Bon Voyage's cruise ship happens in real life.

I needed to get this out. I have no idea if there is a three week cruise. The shortest I've gone on was three days and the longest I've been to was a week. I don't know if there is a three week cruise. I just wanted a three week cruise for first wave.

Also, the way they run things in the kitchens like Kyungsoo ordering supplies in first wave when they do a stop over IS NOT ALLOWED. Food is loaded on to a ship on their original docked place and they do not re-stock during stop overs. If they leave for three days they carry food that's good for three days. So yes, they carry like more than a thousand pounds of chicken in one go.

Some stuff are real, like massive dining halls and extravagant amenities. But some aren't. Why is this important? Because I just wanted to remind people that this is a fic. Some of it may or may not be real.

4 - The TaoRis

Ooookay. The Tao and Kris part of BV (Really long read up ahead).

So this starts as Kris being assigned as the captain of the White Angel. Kris takes the job because he thinks more guests and big ship = more work for him so he doesn't really get to think about being heart broken since he misses Tao a lot and wonders where he is. Although he has actually given up on the idea that he'll see Tao again because let's face it, Kris travels a lot and he doesn't see the same people every time he does so. Except for his staff.

The only thing Kris doesn't like doing is being social. Like meeting guests, attending formal dinners and talking to them. Remember why Chanyeol sent Sehun on this cruise? It was because he had a meeting with the captain and the media and the cruise critics and other big investors willing to know more about SM's cruise line. Kris is in charge of explaining all this since he's the captain and he does the meeting robotically. Like he explains what happens on a cruise both on the business side and the technical side and he tries so hard to put up an act that he likes being social for the sake of being captain.

He doesn't notice that when the meeting ends, someone stays behind and he's just about to leave when someone speaks up, asking if there's really no way for him to look up to the crowd since all he does when he speaks is stare blankly at his notes. And when Kris looks up he sees Tao the only person sitting there in front of him.

He's shocked. Relieved. Glad. Happy. But more shocked because Tao is here and the whole time Kris is panicking because what if someone saw him? Tao is a stowaway. What if someone asks for his identification card? But then he also sees Tao looking... fine. He's actually well dressed and looking very sophisticated unlike the Tao he saw before who was poorly dressed with faint bruises. This Tao looks really good and healthy.

It turns out that Tao is actually one of the cruise critics. He managed to find a job as a journalist. He had to learn Japanese though and although he struggles to speak the language, he actually writes well having learned the whole thing in just two months. He's a critic for a travel magazine and he took this job hoping that someday, he really might get to be in one of Kris' ships and see him again.

They're actually one of the happy couples on the ship aside from SuChen. Kris doesn't have to hide Tao anymore and he's actually very proud of him, introducing him to everyone of his staff, a thing he wasn't able to do the last time because he kept him hidden. And they actually enjoy this cruise more than the others lol. Kris takes Tao around the White Angel for his article. Tao gets him back to being all smiley and working well with others. They're awesome in bed and none of them is afraid of what happens the morning after and they don't need to pretend. They're all good.

Except that Kris notices Tao makes an effort looking good sometimes. Like he puts on a very sophisticated appearance when they're out and it's not actually a bad thing. Because people are allowed to want to feel good and look good. It's not a crime. But Kris likes Tao just the way he is. Like how he knew him back then. Simple. But Kris notices these changes more and more each day when they're out and it's frustrating when Kris knows that Tao isn't like this. Like he always makes an effortto dress up and advertise himself to people. He should just be more like himself instead of putting on an act when Kris introduces him to important guests. Simply put, Kris just wants the old Tao back.

Kris tells him this during the night before their cruise ends, after the Captain's Ball and Tao tells him that Kris shouldn't like the old Tao because the old Tao was embarrassing and ugly. The new Tao is daring and brave and someone he can show around and be proud of. Kris also realizes that maybe the new Tao is his fault because he hid him a lot back then and this is why Tao mistook that as Kris being ashamed of being with him. Kris tells him that he loves the old Tao but Tao thinks he's lying and they fight.

The last day, Kris realizes they're docking in Korea and he's alarmed that Tao is going back here. The reason why Tao left Korea in the first place was because he was running away from someone who hurt him and Kris remembers Tao being scared of coming back. And yet he's about to. He finds Tao and tells him he can hide him again because he can't be here and what if that someone sees him? Tao tells him he's not afraid although Kris can tell he is. Kris tells him he himself is afraid because he doesn't want Tao hurt.

That's when Tao asks, what are they, really? Because they've never put a name to whatever they've been doing that whole week. And now that it's about to end, Kris is suddenly concerned about him so what are they? Kris tells him he doesn't know making Tao feel a little disappointed. But Kris tells him just because he doesn't know what they are doesn't mean he doesn't know what Tao is to him. He tells him Tao is someone he loves and wouldn't want to go away again. He tells him how much he's a better person with him around and if he goes back to Korea and risk himself being seen by that person who hurt him, Kris would have to keep him and protect him. Because Tao is precious to him and he wouldn't want him with bruises anymore.

This has Tao apologize for the facade he's been putting on. He was just ashamed of his old self and how Kris saw him and Kris tells him not to be. His old self is perfect already. Tao admits he loves him too... sort of. Kris is puzzled about this 'sort of' and Tao explains how he's not sure he loves him though. He cares about Kris and loves him too but he's wondering, is this love when he just wants to be with Kris because Kris makes him feel secure? To this Kris tells him that not every person has the same perception of love or that love has rules and standards everyone should follow. But if he thinks he loves Kris because he makes him feel secure, that's okay too. Kris tells him to stop putting on a mask and to stop finding reasons for love because Kris doesn't care about any of it. Just that he's Tao. He tells him to love him back for whatever reason and they both reconcile with Kris making sure Tao is safe when he gets off the ship.

5 - No one in BV is supposed to have a happy ending at the end of 2nd wave.

They were all going to have like a continued ending like the one in first wave but I scrapped it. The only couple who had their endings retained were Hunhan. Their supposed ending is the first chapter in 3rd wave.

BUT obviously I didn't push through with it (except HunHan's) and yes all of them live happy fluffy lives.
