ABOUT #CLIsUsingQuraanInHerSong

so apparently, the verse that was used in MTBD is: "hadaaiqa wa a'naba, wa kawaa i'ba atrabaa" (Surah An-Naba, Verse 32-33). i listened to the song once again and heard it clearly this time (verse 33 was repeated twice). a while ago (n twitter), i said i don't hear any words because i don't know what exact words to catch (and the Quran verse wasn't familiar to me as well because I am not a reader of Qur'an but I can read and understand Arabic) but when i came across the verse that was used in the song, i knew that Teddy really used something that was from the Qur'an. I'm sorry for saying that i don't hear anything wrong with it.

Anyway, Muslims, right now, have the right to complain because it was extracted off the Qur'an, the holy book of the Muslims. but we do not have the right to send death threats (I don't see tweets like that, but i see people talking about how Muslims should stop sending death threats. it's kind of stupid of some Muslims. are you really Muslims?). YG, Teddy, and CL might have had no idea of what that meant or that it was wrong of them to use the verse but this is clearly cultural appropriation (just like the issue when Dara was using a bindi (?) in the Falling In Love MV, that is cultural appropriation as well, guys). they shouldn't have used any Arabic words anyway (just like Taeyang's hat). Adopting other's culture is wrong for some, while others are alright with it. But personally, I don't see the relevance of using other's cultures anyway.

Also, I'm quite sure that we, along with some other Muslims, haven't heard the verse on the song because Teddy did a great job of synthesizing the tune into the verse so it was like blurred out (for lack of proper terms).

read about Cultural Appropriation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_appropriation

listen to the comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqraiF4bd5Y&app=desktop (do not say it's just the same tune, listen to the words behind CL's rapping and music. Listen to the words: "hadaaiqa wa a'naba, wa kawaa i'ba atrabaa" with the "wa kawaa i'ba atrabaa" repeated twice.)

read about the used Surah and the verses here: http://quran411.com/print-078.asp (it's on Verse 32 and 33)

actually someone posted a video on facebook last night and I watched it to clearly understand if they really used the quran in MTBD, unfortunately they really use quran as a backgound music. I am a 2ne1 supporter, a newbie blackjack and it hurts me when I see comments like "she's a b*tch" and some are also threatening her life. Hopefully YG will make a move to stop this issue..

Well, if you put some sentences from someone holly book and dance it with twerking... I totally understanding about that. But death threat is no joke. I mean, you can just end someone life like that. Lol I don't know how to explain it.

What does the muslim verse say?

I'm supposed to just keep quiet about the whole issue since Religion is such a sensitive topic to touch..

@ZeyniiDara could you clear this up for me since I have asked Arab-Muslim friends to listen to the song, and we did this several times to make sure. (I'm based in Qatar for 4 yrs now by the way and I grew up in a province in Mindanao,Philippines, where the majority are Muslims) They told me that at first it does sound "middle-eastern" BUT if you really LISTEN to it the melody or tune is more to Indian/Arabic mashup and there is NO WAY that a Quran verse was mentioned.

I have much respect to ALL religion and Islam. And I'm not generalizing ALL. One/few rants or negative actions of Muslim people (are they really Muslim?) does not equate to the rant of ALL. And how sure are we that these were done by Muslims? Most people who are bashing are ANTIs and are just jumping into the CL/2ne1 HATE bandwagon and are just hiding behind the mask of saying that they're Muslim.

These bashers should LEARN TO LISTEN first and shouldn't be quick to judge it just might smack them right back in their face. Don't use Islam or any other religion for that matter, RELIGION is NOT A JOKE! THREATS are NOT JOKES!

The mind will let you hear what you expected to hear.... (Some phrases mentioned above was posted by me in a forum in AKP)

Also I'll just add, I checked some of the profiles of those who posted and bashed/still bashing CL in twitter and IG and if you browse through their old posts WAAAAAAAYYYYYY before this ISSUE...Surprise! Surprise! They're "supposedly" or should I say "allegedly" SM stans (I'm not sure if they are 100% SM stans/Sones or TROLLS pretending to be SM Stans/Sones and just wanted to hit two birds with one stone, Spread the hate on CL/2ne1 and bring bad rep to SM Stans/Sones)..

I'm not hating...just wanted to clear it up...much respect to you and all the Muslims =)

cliché as it may sound but it is true that "with great power comes great responsibility"... yg entertainment (not only CL) and the whole KPOP industry for that matter, should realize that they have immense power to influence the people that listens to them so they must be very careful and sensitive on what they put on their songs...not because you can do something, you should do it...be respectful...be considerate...peace :)

I understand... I'm a christian but working in an arab country.. I've seem how holy quran is for muslims and I respect tha.. Yet,I just hope yg will do the right thing which is to removed it instead and apologize, I know that they never meant anything to disrespect the muslims.. And I hope those people who threatened them will stop it.

you know what. the meaning from that verse 32-33 surah an naba is warning about the doomsday, and I think that suitable with CL lyrics "karma karma is looking for you. what you gonna when they come for you.."
that's my opinion though.
my heart hurt so much read people cursing and telling death for cl

I'm a Muslim, i love 2ne1, i love YG.
But i'm dissappointed at myself why i could missed that. I hv heared it repeadtly
and yupz there are the part of holy Qur'an in MTBD.
woah im so so so sad.
its clearly wrong n disrespectful. For a Muslim, holy Qur'an is her/his life, soul, everything.
and when i watched the live performance of MTBD, I'm so upset!
i hope YG will fix it or confirm bout it.
bec if they are still not doing something, i cant imagine how it will affect their popularity.
