there was a time when i didn't even know kpop existed - i didn't know you existed and by you, i mean OT15.

because that's exactly what you are and will always be.

i don't really know what i'm meant to say right now, so i'm basically going to tell everyone how i found kpop and subsequently super junior along with it.

super junior was my first ever kpop group - thank you youtube! - and mr simple was the amazing song that made me a hardcore ELF. the amazing vocals, the mesmerising dance and the freaking awesome break down (goddamn you being perfect and ish, lee hyukjae), they all dragged me in and before i knew it, i was looking up this amazing group of perfect boys and was watching their music videos - one after the other.

mr simple - no other - miracle - super girl - a-cha - rokkugo (now that was a song i wasn't going to forget) - don't don - bonamana.

i can still remember to this day (a year and a half later), what mv's i watched and each one made me fall deeper and harder into the world of kpop and of super junior. i'll never forget the moment when i decided to research about this group and the years i'd missed (yeah i know, i was kinda six years late to the fandom, but whatever) and ended up sobbing for an hour after digging deep into the whole han geng lawsuit and then kibum's hiatus.

gosh, just look at their smiles - they're perf. i'm still waiting (and will wait for as long as necessary) for kibum to return to the group, because there are apparently rumours that he will return soon - god i hope so.

i may not have been there for the beginning, but i have been here for quite a lot. the release of y free & single, break down, spy and hero, leeteuk's and yesung's departures for the military, heechul's return, the end of SS4 and SS5 (which still refuses to come to australia!!) and i'm behind the boys ∞%. i've seen how far they've come from their indian hair (don't deny it. like, goddamn lee donghae!) to the y and inspiring men they are today;

though their lineup may have changed and times have been tough, they've managed to pull through and fight on, bringing happiness and love to their fans all across the world. from south korea, to america, to across europe and even down to australia (yes, hello from the little continent down south), super junior has managed to assemble a fanbase worthy of an army ; strong, loyal and that are bound together like family. because that's what super junior really is;

a family.

i have to say this here, because i know a lot of people are "only13"ers. you, my friends, are not real super junior fans. every time you boo henry and zhou mi at a concert, or write a hurtful note to them on any form of social media - you're hurting our family. you're hurting the fans and more importantly super junior themselves. i've never met an "only13"er that has disliked henry and zhou mi for a legitimate reason.

"they kicked han geng out because of them."

no, they didn't. han geng left because he was sick and tired of being treated like he wasn't worth the effort. he got sick - was practically hospitalised - before SM decided he was worth their attention. by then it was too late. han geng had had enough of the treatment he was getting and packed his bags. it was stressful, being an idol and being a foreigner. he wasn't allowed to perform onstage without a mask because of certain laws and pretty much all the money he earnt was sent back to his parents in china - because he didn't come from a wealthy background like siwon or some of the others. he was poor and he took the best job he could get - which also happened to be one of the hardest.

"they don't deserve to be in the group."

excuse you. henry and zhou mi work their asses off to be recognised as entertainers. what they don't deserve, is the trash that is thrown around on the internet and even to their faces about them not being good enough and "not deserving" to be a part of super junior. especially for these two, being idols are hard. henry had to move from his home - halfway across the world - and zhou mi had to leave everything he knew and was comfortable with behind, to move to south korea, learn a language they'd otherwise have never known and deal with other trainees teasing and making fun of them. can you imagine how heart breaking it must have been for them? to go train all day, with people you couldn't fully understand and work yourself to the bone to prove you're good enough, only to come back to the dorms and remember there's no one familiar there to comfort you when things get hard?

"they're not talented enough."

again, excuse you. have you heard zhou mi sing? he may not be as favourited like henry, but he has a solo song - which is beautiful. seriously, he should be allowed to release a ballad mini album or something. i'm not even going to bother linking henry's solo stuff, because i'm pretty sure we've all heard that.

i'm going to stop ranting about stupid, ignorant "only13"ers, because this blog was about super junior's anniversary and i plan to make it so. as i now have nothing to really say, i'm going to insert many, many inspiration quotes from super junior and many many gifs/pictures of them being their perfect, dorky selves.
