Shantelle MinRee Zhou was born into high society on London's exclusive Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, where her father's side of the family, the Zhou's (a pure Chinese-family group born and raised in England) are famous for being well-versed in law and politics as well as in the technology and oil-trade business. Her mother's side of the family, the Moon's were notable fashion designers and fashion icons, making her and her brother's fashion wise.

Aside from that, the Zhou's are family oriented people. Even how busy their parents are in their careers, they are still able to spend time with their children. They always dine together as a family, and spends their weekends in a family outing. Family dinner at their Grandma HyeRi and Grandpa MinGyu's house was probably one of the Zhou siblings favorite events. Of course they got to eat dinner with their aunts, uncles, and cousins, but they also got to spend time with their most favorite and only living grandparents in their mother's birthplace, in Seoul.

It was known that whoever known the Zhou siblings, family always comes first and would drop anything they're doing just to go to any Zhou family occasion, even how spoiled the children can be, that is how much they valued one another as a family and whole. Ree loves Key to bits, but the nagging just has to stop. They usually gets into an arguement most of the time since Key just nags a lot and is just crazy. Key's finishing line to their arguement is usually, "Shantelle MinRee Moon Zhou! (LOL he called her in her complete name, not good) My, daughter can't around the campus! Control your whoremones right this instant!" But aside from their bickering and fighting, they get along quite well. If Key isn't being an over-bearing parent behind Ree's personal affairs, he dotes on her as he usually designs clothes and makes her wear it since anything Ree wears she would look great in it. They had been best friends since primary school (around 3rd grade when Ree's family move in Seoul), and when Key first laid eyes on Ree he knew that he had to protect the girl seeing that she was so small and fragile-looking but he was just surprised when the fragile-looking kid had some spunk in her making him awestruck. Key then grew a certain fondness on Ree, for her harsh bluntness yet adorable charm. He treats her so well and spoils her, and always forces her to call him 'oppa' since Ree refuses to call him that since she couldn't see him as an 'oppa' at all, seeing he was so girly to be seen as a guy.

So she tried confronting Ree about the issue, just to end up to both of them becoming best friends. How it happen, they didn't know. All they did was stare at each other's eyes, as if something just click they grinned at each other.

If they aren't physically poking or slapping or bickering at each other, they goof around like a bunch of idiots as they laugh out loud to their cheesy puns. He isn't particularly comfortable being alone with his Ree-noona, since she gives off way too much pheromones for her own good, and the guys glaring at him wasn't any help as well. And the way she looks at him makes him uncomfortable as if she knew something that he doesn't know. Even though he's awkward towards Ree, they are quite close. Close in a way that they can share personal problems with each other and help the other out in their dilemma. When Ree's having a bad day, she usually wants to it on someone and that someone is unfortunately, Jongin. So buying a whole gallon of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream and bring tons of chick flicks that was stash in his older sister's video room, he was in a long night in listening to Ree with her problems.

He normally won't do anything that doesn't have any benefit for him, in his words, “use whatever is at hand, be it friend or foe.” Almost everything he does is for his own benefit, however Ree has wondered if maybe he wishes to gain something intangible from his relationship with his friends aside from profit. He despises anyone who lives life without putting any effort and gets pissed off with kids from wealthy families seeing that they flaunt their parent's money without any care of the world. He's quite sadistic as well. He finds amusement in seeing people he hates in pain or having problems, it oddly brings a smile on his face. meeting » Not yet. However they would later meet each other inside the school's library where he work's part-time. Ree forgot to return a book and was already due for a week already. She would try to charm her way out of it, so she wouldn't have to pay a fine for returning the book late. She was just taken-aback that the gorgeous nerd wasn't affected by her charm. As he just gave her a princely smile while saying, "That's 5000 won, in case you are wondering how much you owe.".
relationship » Love-Hate. He acts like a complete jerk whenever he's in close distance towards Ree. He likes to play with her emotions, since he decided it was time for Ree to get a taste with her own medicine. At first he was just teaching her a lesson, but the greater he got to know her, he noticed that behind the glamour and boy-changing she was okay.
